The Triffids - Live Stockhom 1989 {Out of Print}

The Triffids - Live Stockhom
Soundboard Recording @ VBR
Out of Print
Available from Amazon for $120

The Triffids were a seminal Australian alternative rock and pop band formed in Perth, Western Australia, in May 1978 with David McComb as singer-songwriter, guitarist, bass guitarist and keyboardist. They achieved negligible success in Australia, but greater success in the U.K. and Scandinavia in the 1980s, disbanding in 1989. Some of their best known songs are "Wide Open Road" (February 1986) and "Bury Me Deep in Love" (October 1987). Their 1986 album, Born Sandy Devotional, was featured by SBS television in 2007 on the Great Australian Albums series and in 2010 it ranked 5th in the book The 100 Best Australian Albums by Toby Creswell, Craig Mathieson and John O'Donnell.

Walter Trout - Blues Came Calling

Walter Trout - Blues Came Calling

"For five years, Walter, Provogue Records, and I have worked towards making Walter’s 25th year as a solo artist a special celebratory event. But The festivities will have to wait! Walter is urgently in need of a liver transplant. It has been heart-breaking for me to watch Walter struggle through these past many months, as we tried various treatment options provided by Walter’s doctors and liver specialists. One by one the treatments failed. Yet through it all, Walter’s courage and determination continually amazed me. Even as he became a shadow of his former self, after losing 100 pounds and much of his strength, he continued touring, writing, playing, singing, and recording. Music and playing for people offered Walter what it always has: It is therapy and a life-line for him when the blues comes callin’. Thus the theme of this album is colored by his confrontation with mortality combined with a deep, all-abiding desire to persevere, and a good dose of typical Walter’esque life-affirming defiance!" Marie Trout - March 2014

Walter's condition has rapidly deteriorated. His surgeon and team of doctors say it is a matter of him getting a liver transplant within the next 90 days or he will die. Let's band together for Trout! - See more at: http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/walter-trout-needs-a-new-liver-you-can-help-/151911#sthash.4BnGJIEP.dpuf

What Happens When You Donate?
Any funds will go straight to helping Walter with his medical expenses offering him and his family some help offsetting the many expenses related to this situation. Walter has been given a great prognosis for a full recovery. He should be able to withstand the massive operation. Walter wants to stay alive and be with his wife and three sons (ages 20,18 and 12). We all want him to also keep playing music for decades to come once his new liver is implanted and settled. Doctors say that Walter's lungs, kidneys and heart are all in great condition, so once a new liver is in there, he is expected to make a full recovery. You will own a little piece of this success every time Walter takes to the stage in years to come when you help support this effort. Walter's wife Marie will be posting updates on his condition. J.B. Lenoir, Sunnyland Slim & Friends - Chicago 1963 {Out of Print}

J.B. Lenoir, Sunnyland Slim & Friends - Nina's Lounge
Chicago 1963
Soundboard Recording @ 256
{Rare and Out of Print}

Chicago, 1963, Nina's Lounge on the West Side. A small club with a little homemade stage in the corner & an old upright piano off to the left of the stage. Not as well known as Pepper's, Sylvio's, or Teresa's, Nina's was the center of Chicago blues on July 9, 1963. Norman Dayron, student at the University of Chicago, armed with an Ampex tape recorder and a pair of Electro Voice mics placed just right, recorded this exceptional night of blues. On piano, Sunnyland Slim,On guitar J. B Lenoir. Eighteen tunes, one hour, and done. Helping on vocals John Lee Granderson, doing three tunes. Sunnyland & JB split the vocals on the rest. Sneakin' in from the alley, on guitar, Mike Bloomfield. You are sittin' first row. You are there. Live Blues gets no better then this. As intimate a CD as I have heard in a long time. Sunnyland & JB playin' & preaching the blues, as uncomplicated as it gets.WARNING, this is an acoustic CD. This is one helluva good live performance.
~Stephen McClaning

Slayer - Live Roskilde Festival 1998

...cleaning up the hard drive

Slayer - Live Roskilde Festival
June 25, 1998
Roskilde, Denmark
Excellent FM or TV Broadcast

As you may have noticed we post a WIDE variety of music and bands. You very rarely see (if any) what is called "thrash metal". Don't get me wrong. I like heavy, I like dark, I like spooky, I like strange. What I DON'T get are bands that play as fast as possible, scream lyrics and sound pretty much the same ALL the time.

As my brother would say sarcastically..."Oh stop...you're scaring me."

One heavy metal fan stated on a metal forum:
"I hate the repetitiveness of the lyrics... we hate god, god sucks, kill god... we get the picture. I don't mind the drunk guitarist from slayer though. He seems
like your average "rock n roll" guitarist, enjoying life in the band...
Unlike the bald one who seems like an angry 15 year old metal fan."

If you like Slayer fine, if not fine. I am deleting this from my drive as I will NEVER listen to this. I may have been really drunk or stoned or BOTH when I obtained this. I do remember a day way back when we had "Heavy Metal Week" at the OLD Floppy Boot Stomp. Maybe I got it then.

If your a fan,  get it now. It will NOT be re-upped...

Set List:
1. Hell Awaits
2. Captor of Sin
3. War Ensemble
4. Dead Skin Mask
5. Dittohead
6. Stain of Mind
7. South of Heaven
8. Raining Blood
9. Altar of Sacrifice
10. Jesus Saves
11. Chemical Warfare
12. Mandatory Suicide
13. Angel of Death

Rick Derringer / Bottom Line, NYC Jan. 03, 1980 (WNEW-FM)

I bought this cassette on Ebay, so I don't know anything about its generation. Whatever it is, it's fairly low, a good copy of the concert. There's an obvious tape flip in the middle of an extended jam at the end of "Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo," but it falls in the middle of the guitar-hero jamming, so it's not too much of a distraction.  The tape was a low bias tape.

They mention that it's being recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour, but it doesn't look like the KBFH ever broadcast anything from this show.  The show was the second show of the evening and Derringer's voice sounds slightly strained in a few places, which might explain why it was left in the can.  Still....it's a fun show.

The concert was two months after the start of the Iran Hostage Crisis.  At one point, Derringer shouts out an uncensored "Fuck Iran." After the show, the WNEW deejays ramble on for a bit.  Normally I would fade that out, but as the commentary veers between apocalyptic commentary about nuclear Armageddon and Bert Parks losing the Miss America gig, I've preserved all of it until the fade out over the Clash's "London Calling."  "Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose."

Updated December 2024. Added runout grooves, cue sheet, affidavit, satellite schedule, six disc labels, newspaper clippings, and print at from Radio & Records magazine.

"Never" and "How Can I Refuse" are listed incorrectly in reversed order on the cue sheet.

The same set list was also on show #87-23 broadcast on Oct. 2-4, 1987, and again as #88-11 on June 17-19, 1988. In an unusual move, Westwood One paid for a print ad for the this broadcast; usually they did ads for the first broadcast but not the later ones.

The Westwood One recording was the source for the bootlegs "Straight From The..." on the Karma label, and "Live In Concert" on the Three Cool Cats label.

Family - Live Thru The Years (1972-73}

Family - Live 1972-1973
Boston & UK
{The Playhouse Theatre, Paris Theatre and Peel Sessions}
Soundboard and FM Source Recordings

A blues-based band with art rock inclinations, Family were one of the more interesting groups of hippie-era Britain. Fronted by the deft and frequently excellent guitar playing of John "Charlie" Whitney and the raspy, whiskey-and-cigarette voice of Roger Chapman, Family were much loved in England and Europe but barely achieved cult status in America. While bands like Jethro Tull, Ten Years After, and the Keith Emerson-led Nice (and later Emerson, Lake & Palmer) sold lots of records, Family, who frequently toured with these bands, were left in the shadows, an odd band loved by a small but rabid group of fans.

After Family's demise, Whitney and Chapman formed the blues-rock Streetwalkers; other Family members (of which there were quite a few in the band's tempestuous eight years) such as John Wetton (King Crimson, Asia) and Jim Cregan (Rod Stewart) went off to find fame and fortune elsewhere.
