Floral Tag

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your week? We finished not one but two jigsaw puzzles. I will have to order some more. Also I  was asked to make a cake topper. This was a first for me. When the card and the cake topper have been given to the recipient I will show you.

Well I really raided the scrap pile for this make absolutely everything was made from scraps. I treated myself to the John Next Door Luggage tags die set. This is what I have used here.

I used a selection of John Next door dies including: the Star Flower leaves, Small Butterflies and Small Flower die sets. The lattice is also one of his dies but I can't remember what that set was called. I used some Cosmic Shimmer Pearl PVA glue in the centre of the flowers.

I am pleased with the Luggage Tag die set. I think I will be using it a lot. It comes with some handy corners that might be good with Parchment Craft.

Christmas card made for the Rudolph Days - January Challenge

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I can't believe how close we are until the end of January. This means it is time for the January Rudolph Days Challenge. It runs from the 25th until the end of the month for your Christmas makes. I do like this challenge it keeps me on track with my Christmas makes.

Here is my contribution for this month.

You know that I like using old cards. This card uses not one but two  cards. The image was taken from one and the background holly paper from another. I added some white foliage with the Holly Spray die from the John Next Door range. I also used one of his small sentiments from the Star Tags die set.

I hope the rest of the week is kind to you.

Floral Birthday Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you had a good weekend. Guess what? We stayed home. All I can say is thank goodness for Zoom. We finished another of the online murder mysteries this weekend. We didn't get the solution right again. They are fun though and they use Zoom for the interrogations.

Thank you for all the kind comments you left on my makes for John Next Door. It is quite fun looking out for your cards on TV. You must never let it go to your head though. I am very pleased to have been given this opportunity.

I have recently treated myself to some new dies. They too are from the John Next Door range. I had some card left over from another card so I gave this design a go.

I used the Stencil Sayings  die set. The sentiments are so pretty. I love that you can see the colour underneath.

I also used the Small flowers die and Star Flower Leaves die set. Some of the small flowers match the shapes cut by the stencil die, I do love how lots of things in the John Next Door range match together nicely.

I want to try this card design in other colours. Also I think I am going to treat myself to some other leaf dies.

I have sent this card to a friend for her birthday. I have no idea if she has got it yet.

John Next Door - Limited Edition Mandala kit - Launch Day

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going?  Hopefully the weather will be a bit nicer today. So we should be able to get out for a walk.

Today is the launch day for the John Next Door Limited Edition Mandala kit. John will be on Hochanda at 3:00pm. I have a feeling this set will be popular. If you visit the Crafting with John Next Door Facebook group , which you can do HERE, there are many examples of how the dies can be used.

Here is my final card to share with you. I used the kit to decorate a pop-up box card. The instructions to make these are HERE

I realised that the stamped mandala could be cut out with the die. Happy Days. I used papers, sentiments and ribbons to finish this card. I have to say that this was Sam's favourite of the samples I sent in.

Here is a bonus card. When I have been working on projects there are usually lots of leftovers. I used strips of paper and ribbons to make the background. I had stamped and cut out too many mandalas as well as a sentiment. They all went together to make this card.

Don't forget to watch John on Hochanda. I am sure to be watching.

Enjoy your day

John Next Door - Limited Edition Mandala Kit - Day 3

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How are we all doing? Not much has happened since yesterday. Though we did get some post and this included  quite a few things we need to sort out for my parents. My dad has got worse and he needs over night care now.  So I need to apply to get his Attendance Allowance increased. The form has taken 19 days to get here. When I send it back it is going to go registered.

Here is another of the cards I made with the Limited Edition Mandala kit that will be released tomorrow on Hochanda. This one has a splash of colour.

I used the outer die from the mandala to cut an aperture in the black card. Then I stamped and heat embossed the black card. I raised this layer up on large foam pads. I choose one of the patterned papers that come in the kit. I used copper card and black card to cut out the mandala and this was stuck to the patterned paper which is below the black heat embossed sheet. I used some ribbon to enhance the design.

Have a good day. I think it is going to be a stay home and craft kind of a day.

John Next Door - Mandala Special Edition Kit - Day 2

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

I hope you had a good day yesterday. We had a walk and we did our shopping after. I did spend the rest of the afternoon making cards.

Here is another of the cards that I made with the John Next Door Limited Edition Mandala kit. The kit has dies, stamps, ribbons and papers.

For this card I used all of the dies. Did you spot the corner dies? Some of the paper and one of the stamps. I used the mandala stamp to make a background. This is a larger card it is 7" x 7". For the stamping I use Izink white ink and a transparent Izink embossing powder. I also used some of the ribbon.

I will be back tomorrow with another card. I enjoyed using this kit. It is available on Thursday from Hochanda.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

John Next Door Limited Edition Mandala Kit

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? On Saturday I had a really bad headache which really stopped me doing much at all. Though when it stopped raining we did get out for a walk this seemed to ease my head a lot. On Sunday we went to one of our local Country Parks this one runs along by the Solent. There is also a war graves cemetery there.

Back in November I was asked to be a Guest Designer for the John Next Door brand. I was sent the shutter card die set to use for that. The post is HERE Just before Christmas I was asked if I would like to be a full time Angel (that's what the Design Team get called). Of course I said yes.

This is my second outing with the Mandala Limited Edition Kit. The kit includes dies, stamps, papers and ribbons. I had lots of fun making cards with the kit. Here is the first one I made.

I only took one picture of this card. I used two of the stamps and a few of the dies to make this card. The white mandalas are stamped and the black ones die cut. In the background is some of the paper. The pad I was sent had white paper in it too. The sentiment was stamped in white and embossed with a white powder.

I think this makes are rather stylish birthday card.

John's shows are on Hochanda on Thursday 21st at 3.00pm and 7.00pm. If you like the kit as much as me there might not be a second show.

Have a good week.

Valentine's Pop-Up Box Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How are you doing? I have been doing online shopping. It is so nice when things arrive at the house. I will try not to get carried away.

I didn't realise quite how hard it would be to make cards for my hubby now he is retired. I have a crafty friend who has had this problem for a while. Now I sympathise hugely. We are meeting for a socially distanced walk later this morning, I can have a chat with her about this and hopefully get some tips.

Anyway this is the Valentine's Day card I made for my hubby. I kept having to hide it when he came downstairs.

I made a pop-up card for a Design Team project and I thought it would be nice to make my hubby one.  I do have instructions on my blog showing how to make these. This one is make from an A4 sheet of paper. You can reach my page HERE.

After that it is just a case of decorating the panels how you feel. I found the heart paper in my stash. I used dies from Tattered Lace. Crafter's Companion and Creative Expressions.

This is how the card folds up to put in an envelope.

Not too long and I will be able to give my hubby this card.

Have a good weekend. I hope the weather will be good for walking.

Deer Family Christmas card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? Probably much the same as ours. We do go out for walks and we are still doing our shopping. Other than that it is just staying home and staying safe.

I have found crafting a bit difficult. Last week I had a focus and a deadline to meet and I managed it. This week it is hard to know quite what to do.  I always start Christmas cards straight away. I have been given lots of lovely old cards and they make gorgeous Christmas cards. So when I can't think what else to do I start making Christmas cards.

The background is an old card. When I saw it I thought that needs some deer on it.

This is the Deer Family die set from Creative Expressions. I had the male deer already cut and laying on my desk. I like the pale colour against the background. I had a snippet of the same colour card and I cut the mum and baby to match.

The sentiment was on the card so I didn't have to add one or cover one up. The snowflakes I added were cut with the snowflake dies that come with the Jane's Trees die set from the John Next Door range.

I am pleased I have made a start on the Christmas cards. There are always so many to make.

I would like to enter the following challenges:

I hope the rest of the week is kind to you.

Stay safe and take care.

A Daffodil filled Spring Birthday Card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? Much the same as ours probably. Staying home, keeping safe. We finished a puzzle, had a couple of nice meals, watched some films and had a family Zoom meeting. We did go out for some walks to. On Sunday we made it down to the River Hamble it makes a lovely walk from our house.  One piece of good news is that my parents-in-law, who are both in their 90s, had their first vaccination on Friday. Just one step closer to being a bit safer.

I have been looking through my files and I found I birthday card that I have never shared before.

I love daffodils and they are starting to appear in the shops. I will hold off for a while before I will be buying any though I might give in to some in pots for the kitchen windowsill. This card was made with a Hunkydory kit that came free from a magazine sometime ago. I haven't really been buying magazines lately.

Aren't those daffodils so pretty.

This card is still in my stash. I think this will be the year it will be sent to someone.

Stay safe and take care.

Have a good week.

New Baby card in Blue

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? Not much going on here but that is too be expected. Zoom is working overtime in our house.

Just before Christmas the best friends of our daughter and son-in-law had a much longed for baby boy. This is the card that I made for them.

This is a tri-shutter card. I have made them for babies before. It is a good way of showcasing a lot of smaller dies. The backing paper is an older Tattered Lace paper. I used dies from Tattered Lace, Creative Expressions and Crafter's Companion. There is lots of scoring and cutting to make this design.

This card folds up as small as this. It is still a bit thick for posting. This one went in a parcel.

This was posted before Christmas but I have no idea if it arrived or not. I hope it did enjoy making this one.

Stay safe and take care.

A Kaleidoscope of Butterflies for a 70th Birthday

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How are things going for you with the new lockdown? We are hearing of more and more people who are testing positive. We really do need to take care. I hope we all come through this on the other side. Meanwhile I will be drawing and crafting.

Here is another 70th birthday card I made. This one was for a good friend. Her birthday is between Christmas and New Year.

This started life as a  rather pretty old card. I loved the colours and the butterflies. I am tending to make smaller cards because of the postage. I trimmed the card down and I matted and layered it onto a blue card. blank.

For the strip across the middle I use some of the John Next Door stencils dies for the sentiment and some of the Small Butterflies. The 70 was cut with his Advent Number dies.

I am not actually sure if this card arrived. I have a feeling that a few things I posted haven't arrived.
Oh well they might turn up one day.

Stay safe and take care.

Happy 70th Birthday

 Hello  My Crafty Blog Friends

How was the weekend? Guess what we stayed home. On Saturday we did pop to the local garden centre to get some bird feed. On Sunday we delivered a few thank you cards on our exercise walk. Now we are passed Christmas and New Year me and my hubby are going to have to work out a routine. This isn't going to be easy.

Here is a card I made for a 70th Birthday.

Well what do you put on a 70th Birthday card. I do know that I like having afternoon tea. The doily's in the background were is my stash.

This is a die from Creative Expressions.

During the first lockdown I was gifted some craft supplies. These stickers were included and I thought they would be ideal for this card. The birthday was between Christmas and New Year so I didn't want it to have a Christmas theme.

I hope the recipient liked this card. It is always a bit tricky making cards for someone you don't know.

Have a good week. Who know what we have ahead of us.

Challenge #83 at the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge blog - Anything Goes - Sponsor SheepSki Designs

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

🥂 Happy New Year 2021 🍾

Let's Hope it is a good one.

Being the first of the month the new challenge has started at the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge blog. The theme is Anything Goes and the sponsor is Sheepski Designs.

I used lots of John Next Door dies to make this card. I used the Foston die set to make the background., Over the top I put some Leafty Flourishes and some tiny butterflies.

There are many wonderful images is the store. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

This image is called Giant Daises and it is available HERE. I made a background on the computer and I layered the PNG image over the top. The image was coloured with my Faber Castell Polychromo colouring pencils. Aren't these gnomes just so cute?

This is a cute little card to start the year. I have cut back on my Design Team work. So I am not sure how often I will be posting. I do have another opportunity that has presented itself. If you look at my review of last year the news is buried in there.

Happy New Year!
