What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday #591

WOYWW

Wednesday does comes around quickly!!

Once again I am showing you my desk,
linking this post to the Stamping Ground.

Here's my desk picture for WOYWW 591!

So what can you see?
A journal page in progress and a bunch of paints in Halloween colours...
A couple of Metcalf kits that my brother sent me - they arrived yesterday having taken a month to get here! Hopefully post between the UK and Australia will get back to the 3 - 5 days eventually...
You might be able to see a set of Crackerbox and Suzy Stamps just visible on the left hand side. They are mainly 'coffee' ones which reminds me - yesterday was the
2020 National Coffee Day.

Thanks for your visits and comments last week.  I was interested to read that Shoshi's Dad also liked the pelican poem and that her sister read out a couple of Hilaire Belloc's poems at his funeral. I made a recording of me reading a couple of poems, to be played at my Dad's funeral, but I chose  A Farewell by Alfred, Lord Tennyson and I’d Like To Be A Teabag by Peter Dixon - This was another of my Dad's favourites!

You all seemed to like my Speckled Egg background... I followed that up with this card:

Apart from that I had a little play with some Mini Gel plates that just arrived in my letter box and I have been doing rather a lot of journal pages. This was after a Tracy Scott workshop

I have done several more pages in a similar vein since...

And then this was after watching a Niamh Baly video:

All the above are documented in my previous posts if you would like to scroll down...

I was hoping to show you a couple more things but they are still in progress!

Oh, I know what I was going to add - on Facebook memories this morning this picture popped up:

This is from two years ago and despite, at that time, having a large table on which to work, I was cramped into one tiny corner! And bottom left there are my Pride and Prejudice stamps...

And finally... this is our current veggie patch - about a twelfth of the size we had in England. however it looks as though we should get peas, beans and potatoes...

And the postie had just called - I know there are some craft goodies there...

Anyway, that's all for today - Happy WOYWW!

At the same time as I made the journal page that I blogged yesterday, I made this card using similar techniques. This was my take on a card made by Sharon Everett in a live for

Recipe:
  1. White rectangular card blank.
  2. Layer of white card with added paint - grey, speckled egg distress paint and white -applied with baby wipes in that order.
  3. White embossed stars on this layer - using Versafine, white embossing powder and Stampin Up stamps.
  4. This layer was then added to the card base.
  5. Trees ( Stampin Up Lovely as a Tree) embossed using Speckled Egg Distress and Weathered Wood Embossing Glaze on a piece of card.
  6. Ovals die cut from the trees and edges distressed with Speckled Egg.
  7. Sentiment printed on the computer, trimmed, distressed and ribbon attached.
  8. Sentiment and ovals added as shown.

I hope you will join the

When I made this card I was following a sketch on
and I will link this card there.

I was 'off the edge' with my white embossing, tree embossing and ovals.

By the way I made top three in Double Trouble Paper Challenge #65! Woohoo!

I will also share with Try Stampin' on Tuesday #476

Because of this hop and the severe restrictions of lockdown in Melbourne, I have been trying to find myself different projects every day just to keep me going!

I am writing this on September 26th  but it is still  Day 50 of Leigh's hop - so I have, yes, one more post...

This is me really playing...

I have just been playing with a couple of new things and one of my journals...

This was a 'use up my paint' page - I added some torn up bits of Dina Wakley collage paper to it with matte gel medium.

I then started printing with my new mini gel plates directly on to the pages making rectangles and ovals. I then overprinted these through Tim Holtz stencils with a different colour.
 What fun!

And look at my 'stamping off paper' - lovely - this is some greaseproof paper which I will be able to cut out and add to my journal as collage pieces!

Thank you Mel for these tips at the September Virtual Retreat with Hillbilly Scrappin!

Next I stamped with black Versafine and foam stamps.

Then I added some Bee Arty sentiments and person.

Finally I added a bit of pen work and some white splatters using Dina Wakley white gloss spray.

I  will add this to Leigh's Linky

Wow... 15 minutes to go!!

Happy Crafting!

A friend on Facebook alerted me to Water Color Splotch birds Amber K Creative so I had to have a go..

I wanted to try out my new shimmery water colours anyway... I combined them with the little colour swatch set.

Anyway here were my little birdies:

I hope you can see the shimmer on the yellow at least...

I then made one of these into a simple card inspired by the sketch at
Thank you Debbie for picking my Pride and Prejudice card as your favourite last week!

Just a couple of layers and a Tim Holtz chipboard quote. Quite appropriate I think as I keep seeing possibilities everywhere!

I am writing this on September 25th - Day 50 of Leigh's hop - but as I am in Australia I may be a little ahead... but here are today's makes:-
I have been doing lots of mixed media so I have three journal pages to share today... you can choose which one you like best!

Firstly, inspired by Tracy Scott

The second two are inspired by Niamh Baly

The next one was courtesy of a workshop Niamh did for the September Virtual Retreat organised by Hillbilly Scrappin' and my second attempt...

Niamh was inspired by Megan Whisner-Quinlan and was given permission by her to share this design.

I  will add one of these to Leigh's Linky

This week I decided to make a journal page

Step One

Apply acrylic paint to my journal double spread (grey, Speckled Egg Distress paint, white).
I added the dark colour first and moved through to lighter then lightest, using baby wipes to add the colour.

Step Two

I embossed some shapes using Versafine and white embossing powder. These were Stampin Up snowflake stamps.

Step Three

I added the trees embossing them with Speckled Egg Distress Ink and Weathered Wood embossing glaze.

Step Four.

I printed the images, coloured them with Copics and black pen and cut them out.
I then arranged them on the background.

Step Five.

Add some black pen doodling around the edges.

Happy Crafting!!

Stay Inspired & Stay Safe!

Because of this hop and the severe restrictions of lockdown in Melbourne, I have been trying to find myself different projects every day just to keep me going!

I am writing this on September 24th - Day 49 of Leigh's hop - but as I am in Australia I may be a little ahead... but here are today's makes:

I have been doing lots of mixed media today - almost completed two journal pages and done these ATCs.

Remember the ATCs I made the other day (about a week ago)?

I explained the background then - by the way Angela, I used quarter inch wide washi as my masking tape.

Any way I still had half a dozen backgrounds left, attached to silver card.

This time I printed some images on greaseproof paper - I attached an A4 piece to a piece of card with washi so it would run through the printer. This greaseproof is like heavy tissue on one side, shiny on the other. I printed on the tissue side and glued the shiny side down with gel medium when I had cut them out. The images I used are from Oddball Art Co
(CCC November Exclusive Set and CCC78 - Unicorn Spider)

Next I sprayed all 6 ATCs with Dylusions Lemon Zest Ink Spray, following this up with green Neon Paint.

When these layers had dried I added paint pen, ink and glossy accents.

By the way all these ATCs are now under my heavy squashing book in the hopes that they will flatten out.

I  will add these to Leigh's Linky

Happy Crafting!
