Inchies with the Sea Turtles from Memory Box

Hello My friends:

I made this card featuring the NEW dies from The spring release 2106 from Memory Box.
For the focal point I used the sea turtles...

After die cutting the turtles I decided to emboss with a dot embossing folder the kaki turtles to give them more realism... and I cut the legs

For the layout I choose this time to use the turtles on top of "inchies", which are 1" x 1" square pieces of paper that contain an image/ a stamp/ a small piece of art...

I used also for the background the "Bokeh Technique", which consists in sponging and overlapping a shape, in general a circle, to mimic the soft blur / out of focus, circles captured in the background of a photography...
and some burlap to remind me of summer and the beach...

How to Easel Cards and A Halloween Twisted Easel Card with Petaloo

Hello My dear friends:

**First the project...**

A Halloween Twisted Easel card...
fun shape to display the gorgeous "Petaloo" Flowers paired with some die cuts....

I die cut the "midnight witches brew" frame into a patterned paper, secure it to the rectangular front panel and embellished with black cotton paper flowers and "Kraft" burlap flowers and butterflies  from "Petaloo"

NOTE:
On the folded card, the front panel was cut into a square shape from where the front rectangular panel will be adhered.
I made some loops with the burlap cord/trim...and overlap the flowers...

**Now onto the tutorial...**
_____________ o _____________
101 on how to make ANY EASEL CARD

Easel card cards are very easy to make...once you master the main folds....
General rule:
1- from a  folded card, (any shape: rectangular, square, circle, octagon etc...)
2- Fold in half the front panel of the card (to make a support: the easel)
3- into which a separate front panel (of the same shaped used for the base) will be affix...

To make ANY "shaped" folded card ...
Fold you paper and place underneath a "desired shaped " die onto the cutting machine.
Cut below the top of the die to make hinge...see photo

The folded card is cut....

Below  are some samples of a heart, a pinking edge circle, an octagon shaped folded cards, cut following the same process as above...

Fold in half the font panel
Note: if you desired a "twisted" easel, make that fold in a diagonal direction

affix a separate single shape to this "easel"...of the same shape as you main card....

In today's case, I wanted a "rectangular" front and base card...
(usually these type of cards are square)....

For this,  The base/front panel NEEDS to be cut in a "square"
then folded diagonally to place the rectangular front panel in a diagonal way and make a rectangular "Twisted Easel Card"....

Note: You can make a "square" folded base and attach the rectangular panel to this square...
you will have then a 'square' base with a rectangular front panel...
in my case I wanted BOTH base and front panels to be "rectangular"

folded to send flat

Shaker Coffee Card

Colombian coffee anyone? :)

Hello Dear Stamper Friends:
Here I am with this shaker coffee card, made with Memory Box dies and featuring one of the most popular produces from Colombia around the world...Coffee!!!

Card featured at the Spanish blog for Memory Box: "A crear se dijo!"

I used some dies from the "open studio" collection from Memory Box to make the shaker box...
where I placed some small coffee beans!!! and I used the rectangle stitches die (dot cream paper)

The line of dies "Open Studio" from MB have the characteristic to come in bright matching package to differentiated from the main collection, there are several dies in one package and all the dies from that color family are to mix and match for "suggested" theme card creations...

The lid of the mug is removable, and the coffee bean has glossy accents (you can not see it on the photo). The "Kraft" section was scored and the accent over the letter "e" is the left over from the center of the "E" itself!

I added a small note on the inside of the cup...is that for me or the coffee? :)

This card has a special meaning to me... it represents not only my native country, my heritage but as well part of the history of my family...
with the passing of my grandfather, I guess I am more nostalgic ... it brings back so many memories from my childhood!!!

Colombia exports its coffee on these jute/burlap bags with the Colombian flag on the front
and the coffee cups are not exactly as the "mug" on the cad, but it is a mix between American and Colombian cultures, right?

The common coffee cups in Colombia are in white porcelain and they are very small.

The very traditional ones come with the Colombian flag
We, Colombians, drink per day at least 8 cups a day...because the coffee is very mild and it is in the DNA of people to be drinking this much...
Over there you never hear the words "caffeine" addiction,  "withdrawal",  "anxiety"  or "insomnia" problems...???
Go figure out!!!

The plant of coffee has these cute and small white flowers.
The coffee beans are first green, then red when ready to be pick up from the plant...and then dried with the sun, hence the color light brown of the beans...and later roasted for the darker colors..

Facts:
Colombia is well know for its coffee ...but do you know ...
that almost ALL the flowers sold on Valentines' Day here in the USA come from Colombia?
(Colombia is the 2nd largest fresh cut flower exporter in the world)
that it is the #1 producer of emeralds?
that it has an ENTIRE museum displaying ONLY Gold artifacts from the pre-hispanic era? "Museo del Oro"
that it has an underground Cathedral made ONLY in Salt (It is inside the mine and the whole cathedral is carved from the salt)
that its name comes from Christopher Columbus?
that it is consider the most Bio diverse country in the world? etc etc....

that Colombians drink coffee at least 8 cups of coffee per day!!!! oh yes I already said that :)...

Hope you like this post
and next time that you will be sampling some coffees
 remember that Colombian coffee
is known mostly
for its "aroma","balance" and"delicate" taste!
 Never strong or bitter!

Thanks for the visit!
have a great week-end!
