Color

Celebration of the birth of the "Stijl" movement 100 years ago.

In Amersfoort where P. Mondriaan (one of the founders of the Stijl) was born they hit it big.

Even the french fries seller with the name of 'n other big painter ( who had nothing to do with the Stijl) participate.

What will we think in about a few years about this style but it is for sure good for the environment if you use your old pants. (Not the new ones made old already of course.)

It has also something to do with the rails. It makes the curves more flowing and guide the eye. Here seemed to be a hack-up.

On this little door at one of amsterdams canals I find at least 20 family names. Must be student housing. 

This graffiti you find really everywhere. Sometimes there are real artists at work. Sometimes not.

In honour of Maarten J. Toonder

In honour of the writer and cartoonist Maarten J. Toonder hundredth birthday the amsterdam transport company let ride this tram covered with all his famous figures.

Was a kind of promotion for a glossy but you don't see this busses oft in Amsterdam.

Still foggy

3 PM sunday. Not really interesting but the fog works really depressing. Hoping for better weather but today its the same here in Almere.

A few weeks ago

 Few weeks ago the shopping centre of Almere was still in sunshine. Here the main shopping street with the green mall roofs. Now it is cold and a little deserted.

Progress

Well the old (or not so old) has to make place for new. This was the post office near the central station Amsterdam opened in 1968 and demolished in 2009. Two weeks ago the last post office in the Netherlands ( Utrecht) was closed. If you need stamps or to post a letter or a parcel now you have to go to a supermarket or a bookshop with a so called post dependance. Fortunately we still have the mail box. On the place of this post office ( 50 metres of one of the busiest railroads in the country) is now the academy of music.

Look like this train bridge in Tourcoing needs major overhaul.
