Funny contrast
If you walk out of the church in Gouda on Sunday, in the alley "achter de kerk" (behind the church) you will find right across from the exit
this cheerful display of beautiful ladies in expensive lingerie. as a counterpoint to the sermon that was heard in church.

A sign in the sky.
After years of restoration at last the scaffolding around the tower of the southern church will be removed. Even the bells in the carillon were removed and when necessary replaced. Hope it is now okay for the next 400 years. One for Skywatch Friday here.

Our Village
Sitting behind the computer again (yes bills have to be paid) then also using the fun of such an apparatus. I made this one just before I became ill from the church canal here in Almere-Haven. A fine one for Weekend Reflections here.

Architecture trip to Copenhagen(8)
Grundtvig's Church made by Peder Vilhelm Jensen-Klint after he won a competition in 1913. In 1921 started the build and in 1926 the tower section was completed.
Further work on the interior and on adjacent buildings continued until 1940 and was completed by Klint's son Kaare Klint after his father's death in 1930.
The triple-aisled hall church is 76m (259 ft) long in total and 35m (115 ft) wide; the nave has a height of 22 m(72 ft).
The church contains lot of daring brick details and the style is called expressionist church architecture. ( All details from wikipedia here.)
Of course there is a Votive ship and it is nearly the only kind of sober decoration that I could find in this Lutheran church.

The church of the cloister of Glendalough established in the sixth century by St. Kevin.

Oops, polished again.
Due to some recent festivities of our royals in the new church in amsterdam the candelabras are polished to a blinding new look.
We went there for the world press photo exhibition but it is difficult to resist such splendor. The above one is of course a crop from this one.
