Number One Son's Quilt

Had a really busy week at work, so not much happening in the work room. Ive only got energy to watch West Wing (I'm totally obsessed since receiving the box set for my birthday from Number One Son) So thought I would post a photo of the quilt I made him for Christmas!

Fabric from Asia

Number one daughter returned this morning from 8 weeks of travelling around Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia and she came home bearing gifts!!

The fabric is absolutely beautiful. The batiks came from Bangkok, the silk scarves from Vietnam and the velvet piece on the right was made by a women in a village where she stayed! I will have fun planning something to commemorate her trip - possible with elephants on.

Textile Class

Last Saturday I took a textile art class with 'Take Two' and this is my work in progress! After sewing a grid on to a piece of acrylic felt, I stencilled the pattern using gesso and painted with acrylic paint. This is where it started to go wrong!! Acrylic felt when heated should start to disintegrate - unless of course its been treated!!!! Plan B - cut out the shapes and rearrange! The last photo is building up the picture using felt tops, wool and embroidery floss. Lots more to do but its coming together nicely.

Cushions

Its been absolutely wonderful having a week at home. The weather has been amazing (but very cold yesterday on the cliff top) with beautiful sunny days. I was however determined to get some of my unfinished projects done! I saw these in Februarys Workbox magazine and knew I had just the right fabric for them. Yesterday I managed to complete two of them. I have one more to go - a lighthouse - which should be finished later today. And will post a photo when done.

SNOW

January and February has seen lots of snow. Here is number one daughter playing with the dog in the snow and some trees outside the house.

Cyprus - Nov 2009

Lots of catching up to do!
We had a great holiday in Cyprus in November, visiting number one daughter on her archaeological dig. She was excavating 2-5th century mosaic floors for the Department of Antiquities and a group of English post graduate students, but didn't bargain finding a tomb (complete with bits of body)!
