Glastonbury balloon flight

After 18 months we finally went on our balloon ride and it was fantastic. It far exceeded my expectations! There was something wonderful about just hanging in the sky and letting the wind gentle push you along. We flew for about 2 hours and celebrated with champaign at 2,000 feet!!

Sunday, 3 May 2009

Spent last weekend at Donnington Valley a Health Spa near Reading with some of the girls from work. It was great fun and I loved the treatments. I could get used to this life.

Today we walked about 4 miles along the cliff top and then it was into my work room to start my next Artsnthemail cards - Months of the Year - MAY.

Artsnthemail

Here are some Artsnthe- mail postcards Ive received over the last two weeks. The ones on the left are from the swap Folded Wonders and were made by Toni and Sue and the ones below are from the Recyle swap by Kate and Katherine and include all sorts of odds and ends from a bit of old bra and a coke can to burlap rice sack! Clever arn't they! You can see my attemps further down the page.

Ive spent the weekend in the garden helping DH to refine the pond that he and the eldest ankle snapper dug over the Easter weekend. It's now going to have a water fall running over pebbles and rocks! - Well lets wait and see!

Egyptian Fresco

I had great fun at a textile class yesterday. It gave me a chance to experiment with different media. The fresco is traced onto tissue paper on upholstery fabric, coloured with pastels and embellished using xpandaprint and beading - among other things! Great Day!

Mothers Day

We were due to take our balloon flight today, but unfortunately despite it being a beautiful day the flight was cancelled - too windy apparently - disappointing!

Wool tops

How gorgeous are these wool tops! Now Ive got a book on felt making, I want to make loads and I couldn't resist these. All I need now is time enough to make some!

IPODs and making felt

It was my birthday last week and I received this gorgeous IPOD. My DH hunted high and low to find a green one for me - and I absolutely love it! Also got a book on making felt. Here is my first attempt. I think I might get hooked!

Triptych - artsnthemail

Ive been working on this for an Artsnthemail swap - Triptych. As its not a straight forward post card swap I only have to make one, but I will have to do one for myself - I love the colours!
Also visited Faye - fed her and topped up her fridge - what else are parents for!!

On the beach

Sundays are generally spent in my sewing room. This weekend however has been spent with the DHs grandchildren. We have had two days on the beach building sandcastles and eating cream cheese sandwiches! Its been great fun. I'll just have to catch up on sewing tomorrow.

Silk Cockerel

I made this little silk cockerel picture for Faye when she returned to University in January. I love working with silk there is something luxurious about it!

Cliff top walk

I took this photograph this morning while walking the dog along the cliff top. You can just about see the Isle of Wight in the background. I really like the photo in black and white, it makes the cloud formation look really good.
My dog hates it when the paragliders go overhead!

Country Angels

Having only lived in this house for 3 months, and now having a downstairs loo with a low ceiling, I felt this area was calling out for bunting! In January I went to the Maltings fabric sale in Farnham and bought this lovely little angle pattern (along with the odd piece of fabric!).

Country House Quilt

Here's one I finished the binding on last weekend. Ive never used checks before or so much black, but I loved every minute of it. Its very simple quilting but felt it didn't need alot. The pin wheels around the edge would look good in a small cot sized quilt - but thats for another day!

Snow!

Those who live in the UK will know we've had a huge amount of snow over the last 36 hours. I should be in London today but it's like an ice rink on the roads so we turned round and headed home. Which means we have an enforced holiday in the warmth of home, watching the snow fall and hopefully doing some quilting - sounds ok to me! What better time to start a blog, so here goes.
