Another Take on Maigan Lynn's Mermaid Braids Image

Today I made a card using a QKD digi image called Mermaid Braids by the lovely Maigan Lynn.
I decided to use an embossed card front that I "tweaked" by coloring the unraised parts and Stickling the raised parts (I thought these looked like waves).

I colored Maigan's mermaid with Copics, then fussy-cut her off of the rest of the image.  I adhered her to my card with dimensional tape.

To embellish, I lined up some like-colored ribbons and covered the staples I had used to fold them with a spray of flowers.  A few clear skittles add to the underwater look of my card and it's finished.

Oh, and I added a tiny starfish charm to her wrist.  Uh oh, looks like she lost an eyelash!!  Better do an emergency make-up recovery job on her before she gets mailed out!

Like what you see?  Go on over to the ALL NEW Queen Kat Designs Shop to choose your favorites!!  Tell them Pat sent you!

Mr. Snowman

Here's one more adorable Christmas theme stamp for this summer celebration of Christmas stamps from Queen Kat.  This adorable image comes from artist Sandra Caldwell.  I am showing this image in two different ways, one in a large format on it's own card.  He's so cute in his Santa hat and scarf.

Here, I made the image a little smaller, this is a feature that I appreciate about digital stamps, so I could use the snowman ornament to decorate my own little Christmas tree on this card below.  Isn't it adorable?

I hope this gives you some great ideas for some quick and adorable Christmas theme cards using these cute and adorable stamps from Sandra Caldwell.  Be sure and check out all her great images at Queen Kat.

Cheers, Holley

Wish Upon a Cupcake

Hi again, everyone!  I cannot believe that this is the last post for July, and that August is just around the corner.  This summer is flying by!  I hope it's treating you all very well.

Today I've got another card to share that features the Star Sweet Cupcake stamp.  This time, it's a bright and happy birthday card.

This card was made with lots of sunny yellow papers layered up and topped off with this adorable stamped image, which I colored with Prismacolor pencils and Stickles.

I added some clear Punchinella and some ribbon and gems for embellishments.  But not too many, since this cupcake is clearly the star.  Get it?  Star...cupcake...ahem.  Moving on...

I finished it off with some chipboard letters at the bottom.

That's all, y'all!  I appreciate you stopping by, and I hope you'll go on over to the Queen Kat Designs Store and grab up some of these adorable cupcakes!

See you next week!

Maigan Lynn's Ocean Friends Art Journal Page

As promised last week, here is a bold example using Maigan Lynn's Ocean Friends digital stamp.  This is a page, ready to use, for my art journal.  For this page I used very similar supplies to the cards I made last week!

Supplies:
1.  Art Journal with gesso on page
2.  K & Company travel paper (torn for seaweed), and acetate jelly fish
3.  Glitter glue:  blueberry ice, waterfall, and grape
4.  Sakura gel pens and Crayola colored pencils

Have fun and get messy!  I love the mermaid with a streak of teal hair and the bright colors for her friends and the fauna.

Looking forward to seeing you in August!

Finally Friday with Kathy Cyr

Howdy folks. Emily here with another Finally Friday card.   Sorry for being a tad late posting this. It's been a hectic week in here in NE PA.  Today I have another card for you using a Kathy Cyr image.  I love this cute Christmas Morning image.

Her and her feline companion look like they are ready to dig into those presents.  She is such a fun image to work with.  You can find her in the QKD Store.

I printed off the image on Neenah White card stock and colored the image with colored pencils and OMS.  I used some Sakura Glitter Gel Pens for the presents and the decorations on the tree.  I picked some DPs from my stash from a couple Christmases ago.  The sentiment is one I have had in my stash since I first started making cards.  The image, DP, and sentiment are matted onto a nice Christmas Green and the whole thing is on an Old Olive card base.

Thanks for stopping in today to see what we have created using the wonderful images from QKD.  Have a wonderful day.

Merry Xmas

Can you believe it's nearly the end of July already? This year is flying past!
Today I have 2 cards to share made with the 2 new images I have been showcasing this month: Sandra Caldwell's Penguin Ornament & QKD Peppermint Cupcake both available at the store!

This Kraft & Black colour combo is one of my most favourite to create with and are perfect colours for "non-traditional" xmas cards - I like anything different!!!

As you can see images are printed onto Kraft card and fussy cut. I "decorated" the kraft backing with black paint and a credit card and the black card with white paint and sequin mesh. My die cut flower/leaves are Dienamics Brand and always look great & the Merry Xmas wording is EZ Cut. A funny story about the sticky mesh - I found it at my house after we had some renovation work done - some "tradie" is missing his Gyprock tape - I think it is the most wonderful stuff for adding texture and I use it all the time - amazing what you can create with!

See you next month!

Twas The Night Before Christmas

Twas the Night before Christmas Poem
Make it Snow !
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all

Happy Wednesday everyone Janie Here to share a very sweet Christmas card with you. I was fortunate enough to work with Frances Mary II by Kathy Cyr. I love this image, her and her kitty are just to cute.

Do forgive me for putting up the poem but it ties in with my card. I used  Echo Park's A Very Merry Christmas with this piece I  created a fan fold on the card in two different places to give the card so more texture.

Isn't she darling. I thank you for stopping by today and allowing me to share my creation with you. Have a great week

Hugs

It's Never Too Early to Start Making Christmas Cards

...especially when QKD releases some amazing Christmas images in July!!  Check out my card today using "Swirl Deer."

I decided to try a gate-fold card--amazing that I'd never made one before, but true!!  Once I picked out the patterned papers from my Christmas stash, I printed my image on white cardstock and inked the background with Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Worn Lipstick, Bundled Sage and Gathered Twigs).

I found the sentiment in my Christmas box and inked it to coordinate with my image, then attached them to opposing sides of my card.  The star is from my button collection.

I put a little shimmer on my deer's antlers with black Stickles, but otherwise left my card Clean And Simple.

Ready to tackle Christmas cards yet?  The QKD Shop is your go-to place!!  Not ready yet?  There are plenty of stamps and digi images just released--go check them out!!

Meow-y Christmas

Hello everyone!  here's another adorable Christmas theme card from Queen Kat stamps for July!  We are having our Summer Holiday special this year.  This is a cute image from artist Sandra Caldwell, he's an adorable Kitty Kat Ornament.  I made this cute card and added a fun Meow-y Christmas sentiment with him.  She's created several wonderful Christmas stamps that are available now at the Queen Kat store.

Drop by and check out all of Sandra's great digital images as well as her wonderful rubber stamps.  I know many of you start your Christmas cards this time of year.  Like you I know if I do just a handful of them every week, by the time December rolls around, I will already have a wonderful stash of beautiful handmade cards to give away!

Hello, Fishies!

Hi, guys!  I'm back again with another card that I made with the new Under the Sea stamps by Vikki Douglas.  I wanted the card to look like an aquarium, so I used plain backgrounds rather than patterns this time.

I colored and Stickle'd the images and cut them out with just a little extra white space around them.  All of the plants and the jellyfish (aka Squishy, Squishy Jr., and Squishy III) are adhered flat onto the card, while the fish are adhered with pop dots so that they are floating above the card's surface.

I added a little flag for the sentiment, and lots of gems and pearls for bubbles.

The sandy bottom of the tank was made with canvas ribbon.  I cut the solid part of the ribbon and layered a piece that was mostly un-frayed on top of the one that was really frayed to create some layers.

I just love these little fishies, and I can't wait to see what you QKD fans do with them!  So get on over to the Queen Kat Designs store and check them out!

See you next Sunday!

Finally Friday with Emily

Hi stampers.  I hope y'all are enjoying your Friday.  Emily here with a card I made using the Teddy Ornament from Sandra Caldwell.   Did you know that there are only  159 days til Christmas.  Yep, the countdown is on.  I hope to be done with my shopping by Thanksgiving at the latest.  No more Christmas Eve shopping for this girl.

I wish I could find an actual ornament like this one.  It would so be right on the front of my tree.

I printed out this little guy on Neenah card stock and colored him with colored pencils and OMS.  I used my Cutterbee scissors to fussy cut him.  After putting together the front of the card with DPs from Recollections and DCWV, I punch a hole to make it look like he was hanging from the card.  I didn't want a lot of embellishments on this card because I wanted that cute little bear to shine.  I added a bit of ribbon from my stash and some gems from Mary Englebright?  I think that's how you spell her last name.  The entire card is on a SU Old Olive card base.

I hope you enjoyed your Friday stop here at Queen Kat Designs.  Have a wonderful weekend.

It's Winter Down Under

I know the majority of you are lapping up the sunshine but here in Australia it's Winter and cold - I would much rather be where the sun is but I will have to be patient LOL!

Today's creation is a mini journal page with Sandra Caldwell's Penguin Ornie image available at the QKD Store. My mini journal pages are approx 2 1/2 x 4 inches so are just little pieces of paper to work on but I can have some fun with painted backgrounds which is what I have done here. I used my fingers to apply several colours to the background, I used a credit card on the side to make the black lines and a bottle lid to make the black circles and used some of the sequin mesh stuff to sponge the dots on to try and look like snow?? The penguin image was printed on tissue paper and adhered to the page with Modge Podge and to finish off I added letters to spell "Winter".

Hope you like my little piece of art today!
Back same time next week!

Ocean Friends

Happy Wednesday everyone... Janie here to show you my latest creation. I was given the privilege this month to work with Maigan Lynn's Ocean Friends, and let me tell you this is one sweet image. I loved everything about it. It was a great pleasure coloring this image and I hope I did it justice.

I used my copics on this image . I also used Basic Grey's Lucille collection on this card I think it really brings out the image more. I added a little hanger to the card because I did not know what kind of card she would be so it leaves it's interpretation wide open.

As you can see I made her a red head I do love making red heads. Thanks
for stopping by today and allowing me to show you what I have created.
Make sure you stick around all week to see what the other ladies
have created and are going to show you

Hugs

Beach Birthday Party

Some people think that when you live in Chicago, a beach party is impossible.  But Chicago lies on one of the Great Lakes, Lake Michigan, and our beaches are elbow-to-elbow packed with families, jocks and swim bunnies.  So I had to come up with an appropriate package for my birthday present for an upcoming party at the beach.

For this project I used a Maigan Lynn digi image called Mermaid Braids.  I colored her with Copics and framed her with coordinating cardstock.  I have had a couple wooden boxes/containers in my craft room forever, so I grabbed one and Mod Podged some hound's tooth-patterned tissue paper to cover it.

After adhering Maigan's image onto the front, I had my way with the embellishments!  I'll be dropping a gift card to Bubba Gump's Restaurant into this handmade box.  I know she'll like it!

Check out all of the July releases from the Queen over at the Shop today!!  For more inspiration, check out our Facebook Fan Page.

And as always, keep crafting!!

Bundled Up

Here's a wonderful image from Queen Kat artist Kathy Cyr.  This cute image is called Bundled Up.  Queen Kat is having this Christmastime in Summer fun this month, showing many brand new Christmas theme stamps so that crafters who love to make their Christmas cards can get a jump on their holiday creations.  Isn't that clever?  This artist makes the most adorable images of this cute girl and her cat, called Francis Mary and Cornelius

Be sure and check out Kathy Cyr's other stamps in both rubber stamp and digi-stamp format at the Queen Kat store.  She has a bunch of adorable Francis Mary and Cornelius stamps that are too adorable, I own several of them, my fav is called "Hello" probably closely followed by the one where they are both dressed as Ballerinas!

A Sweet Cupcake

Hello again, stampers!  I have a card to share today that features the new Star Sweet Cupcake stamp.  It's such an adorable and versatile little image!

Since I used the digital stamp, I was able to size it up so that it was a bit bigger than the original.  I colored the stamp with Prismacolor pencils, and then added a fair amount of Stickles to make it shimmer.

I layered it up on some pretty pink papers and added some simple embellies for the sentiment(s).

I love images like this one, since a simple change in color will let it fit just about any occasion.  I'll be back with another card using this stamp later on this month, so I hope you'll come check it out.

That's all for me today.  Please be sure to get on over to the Queen Kat Designs store and check out all the great new stamps!

See you next week!

Bundled Up Two Ways!

It's time to think about planning ahead for Christmas and those winter birthdays!  What odd advice for July!  I want to show you two cards that I made in two very different styles using the super cute bundled up girl and her cat digital stamp by Kathy Cyr.

The first card is a bundled up birthday card, perfect for those colder weather winter birthdays.  This card features a white card with embossed happy birthday folder on shimmery white paper.  I used water color pencils (General Brand - Kimberly)  to "color" the stamp, then I made the painted look using a very fine tip brush.  With just a little patience and time you can have the look of a water color painting.  I think she has a really sweet soft look.  Rather than leaving her on the card stock she was printed on, I fussy cut around her and mounted the cut out stamp with dimensional tape.  I also used a make a wish rub on on white card stock and some pink twirly twine.

This second card looks very different!  It is Christmas in July!

The card features background patterned papers from Jillibean Soup mounted on a white card.  For the coloring on this digital stamp I used Sakura Gel pens and my Crayola colored pencils.  The sentiment was printed on white card stock and the edges inked.  I'm proud to say that I have one Christmas Card created!

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas in July

Happy Friday everyone.  Emily here to showcase a really cute stamp by Kathy Cyr.  I love this image.  It's so sweet.

I used a new medium this time..Soft Pastels.  They worked really well for blending and shading, but just not so well on an intriquite image like this.  I used my Sakura Glitter pens to add some sparkle and shine to the card.  The CS is Colorbok and the DP is The Paper Studio.  The sentiment and little holly stickers were from my stash.   I hope that you guys enjoyed your eye candy for today.  Take a look in the store and see what new and beautiful images we have there.  Have a great weekend!

Yum - A Peppermint Cupcake!

Today's creation will make your mouth water - well it does mine - I love all things sweet!!

This new digi is available at the Queen Kat Designs Store and is perfect for any occasion - I've coloured the image in reds & added a red bow to make it a more xmas themed card but it would make a great birthday image too! I haven't added a sentiment yet but will do that when I decide if it will be for xmas or another occasion!!

The technique I have used here is the "Triple Stamping Technique" - you can find instructions at Splitcoast Stampers - actually designed for rubber stamps but if you are patient and fiddle around you can put your layers through the printer and use digi images too.

This is really a great technique - adds layers & dimension and looks effective!

I'll "see" you again next week!

Maigan Lynn Offers a New Mermaid this Month

I am just loving the new July releases from Queen Kat Designs.  Here's another one I got to play with and want to show off.  It is called Mermaid Braids by the very talented Maigan Lynn.

I made a mixed media card using patterned papers, lace, ribbon, wired jewels and Stickles.  I colored my mermaid with Copics and placed her in a tropical setting using those patterned papers.  I adhered her with dimensional tape.

The wired jewels came off a frame or basket (that was butt ugly).  Its only saving grace was the wired jewels, which I of course threw into my crafting stash, throwing away the basket (frame?).

Maigan is one of the many artists at QKD whose images I love to play with.  And this one is a new DIGI!!  Digi's are very versatile, because you can print oin any type of paper, resize the image and even flip it to face the other way.

Go check out the Facebook page for loads of inspiration this month using the new releases!! Our design team, which we refer to as the Royal Stamping Maidens, has been super busy showing off their creativity.

Where's Santa Claws?

Queen Kat is having her Summer Time Christmas Celebration and here's an adorable Christmas ornament image from one of my favorite artists, Sandra Caldwell. Don't you love this adorable Kitty Kat ornament?  It's a brand new image that will be released this month at Queen Kat. Too Cute.  She's going to have a couple of other adorable Christmas themed images come out.

Be sure and check out all the new Christmas images from Sandra at the Queen Kat store this month.  Now is a good time for those of you who love to make your own Christmas cards, you can just do a handful of them per week, and by the time November is here...you're already done!

Make Bubbles With Me

Hi, everyone!  I've been away for a month, and it feels like it's been forever!  So I'm happy to be here with a card to share that I made using the Under the Sea set by Vikki Douglas.  Let's get right to it!

The set includes some cute fish and aquatic plants as well as some related sentiments.  I've decided that all of the jellyfish are named Squishy, obviously.

I colored the stamps with Prismacolor pencils (and added some Stickles here and there to make them sparkle a bit), cut them out, and adhered them to the front of the card.

Along the bottom or the card, I used some ribbon from May Arts that has a texture similar to a natural sponge (or at least it does to me).  Once everything was glued down, I took a 12-inch border strip of adhesive pearls and snipped it into several smaller pieces of varying length.  I did a little bit of bending of each of the (originally) straight strips of pearls while I stuck them down so that they would "wave" here and there to make my bubbles.

That's it for me for today.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Be sure to go check out the new stamps over at the QKD Store!

I'll see you next Sunday!

Ocean Friends Tag and Sneak Peek!

Here is a sneak peek at the Ocean Friends digital stamp by Maigan Lynn.  This month, I will have three separate projects to show you using this fun fresh, summertime stamp!

I loved making this cute tag.  The supplies I used included; a black heavy card tag, double sided tape, green tinsel glitter, Sakura Gel Pens, skeleton leaves in ivory and Mudd Puddles in Cabana Beach.  There are so many ways to color this stamp.  For this image, I used gel pens.  I accented the tiny bubbles with waterfall glitter glue.  As you will see from my samples later in the month, I had a hard time figuring out exactly what the best look was for this lovely lady.  I trimmed the colored stamp and mounted it on the tag.  The glitter was added by using a 1//2 inch width double sided tape and applying the green tinsel glitter.  I added the leaves using a liquid adhesive and then frosted a thin line of Cabana Beach Mudd Puddles.  I love all of the texture here.

Hope you enjoy the quick peek at this lovely lady and her friends.  Check back later this month on Saturdays for more examples using this great digital stamp.

Finally Friday with Sandra Caldwell

Hi there.  Emily here with a card to showcase a new digi image by Sandra Caldwell.  It's been quite a while since I have posted.  I am so glad to be back in the groove.  For my card, I used Sandra's new image, Bear Ornie.

When you purchase this image, you will get one bear.  I sized the image and then copied it to make the "swag".  The image is colored with colored pencils and OMS.  I inked all the edges of the image and sentiment.  Using Recollections Bright and Jolly collection, I trimmed and matted the background.  The sentiment is an oldie from my stash.  I think this little Christmas card turned out rather well and my cousin in VA is just going to love this off the wall card.

I hope you enjoyed my card and please take the time to stop in the store and see what fabulous new images our Queen has for y'all.  Enjoy your day!

A Wintery Penguin Gift Bag

Happy 4th of July to those of you who celebrate - of course being "Down Under" here in Australia we don't celebrate the day but we certainly know what it is & we wish you all a great celebratory day!

My creation today has blue & white - I'm just missing the red!

I am sharing a brand new image from Sandra Caldwell - "Penguin Ornie" - so cute & ready for Xmas!
I've decorated a plain white gift bag with some wintery coloured and patterned papers from Gecko Galz which are just perfect for the way I coloured the Penguin in soft greys, blues & yellow. I added a ribbon and matching tag to the handle and some glittery snowflakes to finish it off.

These bags are so easy to create & make your gift giving that bit more special - I hunt around in the cheap shops for bags and printing your own patterned paper from digital files keeps the cost down too!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week & I will have another Xmas in July creation for you next week!

Happy Birthday.......

Happy Wednesday everyone Janie here today to share with you my version of a birthday card. I made this card for one of the residents at the facility I am doing my school placement at and she loved it.

Today I am showing you Ocean Friends by the beautiful multi talented Maigan Lynn. I heart Maigan's style and images so much she is such an awesome artist. She puts so much love in all her paintings. I should know I own one.. :)

I used Echo Park's For The Record 2 line on this project and I also used Prima roses and some twine to really make the card pop.

I also used copics and pencil crayons on the image I think it came out fairly well what do you all think?

I hope you enjoy my card today and don't forget to stop by everyday and see what the other members of our design team have to show you. Until next Wednesday have a great week

Hugs

Make a Wish with a Sneak Peek at July Releases

Tomorrow the Queen releases new images, but I wanted to give you a sneak peek of one of them.
The digi image is called "Swirl Deer" and due to its fabulous antlers, I decided to use it for a birthday card.

My card showcases the image with patterned paper, fiber, a ribbon bow, inked edges and an embellishment I found on clearance in the wedding aisle of Hobby Lobby.

I like to cruise through Hobby Lobby without a specific item in mind, so that I am open to discovery.  Most times when I have an objective in mind, like replacing my adhesive, or a certain color of card stock, I miss out on little surprises.

That's why I also like to cruise through the rubber stamps and digi images at the QKD store.  If I keep myself open to surprises I find an image that I might have missed previously, and fall in love with it!

Whatever your "plan of attack" is when it comes to craft shopping, I hope you find something that inspires you.  Speaking of inspiration, check out the QKD Facebook page!!

It's time for Christmas!

Well, perhaps we are not really having any Christmas time weather here in summer, but we can be making our Christmas theme cards now.  Queen Kat is releasing a bunch of new Christmas theme stamps this month including this adorable image from artist Kathy Cyr.  It's part of the Francis and Mary collection and is called Bundled up.  It will be released in early July.

I know lots of stampers who make it their goal to create a handful of Christmas cards every month so that when the holidays get here and they are so busy, they already have a wonderful selection of cards to give out.  What a nice idea.  Drop by the Queen Kat store and check out this month's release of brand new Christmas theme stamps.  I have a bunch of new cards to share too.
