Sundays are for Stampin' - August 30th

Happy Sunday and welcome to another edition of Sundays are for Stampin' - certainly the final edition for August, can you even believe it? Almost September? I haven't been inside the Fort Collins, CO, Hobby Lobby in a couple of months, but I just KNOW that their imitation Christmas trees are going to be up already, oh my.

Well, believe it or not, I honored the Sunday stampin' part of my title by actually stampin' the spaceship on this card in the wee early hours today. It was an exceptionally rough week, so I didn't get this card created until a few minutes ago, and if you check the time on this post, you'll see that it's rounding the corner to 6am on 8/30!! Do I get points for devotion? =)

I truly love how this fun card turned out, with the alien/robot/space background paper and especially the QKD spaceship stamp!! I can't wait to catch my son's expression when he wakes up and sees this card!! I thought it would add some cool visual interest to weave some letter beads into the border punch with some scrappers floss. I also added some Glossy Accents to the ship's porthole to make it look like glass, or at least like acrylic.

And for all of the blending I did with Copics to get the green of the ship looking the way it does - and wow, did I ever blend and blend and blend and blend - not one bit of ink bled through the GinaK cardstock; I can't believe how amazing that stuff is, so very worth the price.

Paper: Space Robots by Stemma; Bazzill Bling; DCWV The Metallic Stack; GinaK Pure Luxury 120lb cardstock
Ink: Stampabilities black dye; VersaMark Dazzle Frost; Cat's Eye
Stamp: QKD Over the Moon stamp set
Accessories: Karen Foster Space metallic sign; Bazzill Chips naked arrow; Adirondack Acrylic Citrus Paint Dabber; Paper studio ribbon; Stickles; Copic Sketch markers; Sakuro white pen; Nestabilities Curved Rectangles

Thanks for reading and have a very blessed Sunday!!

Stampin Saturday!

Make a wish and blow out the candles!!! Don't you love birthdays and birthday cards. The Birthday Candles Stamp Set from QKD is the absolute best! What is so great about this set is that while there are three candles, each one is separate, so whether it is a first birthday or a fiftieth birthday, you can actually put that many candles on the card! Perfect for girls or boys, this set is a definite must have on my list and it should be on yours.

Stampin' Saturday

It is an absolutely gorgeous day here. Ya know, you can stamp anywhere, even outside on your patio table! Looking at my little pond in the backyard, I decided to use the QKD Kiss Me Frog stamp. It's only $2.99 to begin with, but this week it's 35% off! Don't you just love it? Think of all the great projects you could make with it!
Other materials used to make this card: Maya Road flower and ribbon; Nestabilities label diecuts; Fiskars punch and Fiskars Cloud 9 Design Bouncing Baby Boy patterned paper; Hero Arts Gemstones. Hope you have time this Saturday to scrap a lot. Helene

Pieced Piece

Here is a card I came up with after washing a folding a few of the quilts I've made. I punched out coordinating papers and pieced them all in a patchwork pattern then stamped Dotty over top. I added a few Primas to liven it up.

I like this card well enough. It is simple, but I think it needs more. So when I get back from preschool drop off I'm going to rework it and edit this post to add the second version on here. So please come back later today and visit again. And be sure to swing by the store and get some of those things on your wishlist.
Here's the reworked card. I pulled out the sewing machine and stitched along the edges, added more flowers and used Liquid Pearls on Dotty's feathers as well as some of the small flowers. This feels more like me now:-)

We have design team challenges posted on our blog hops every Wednesday. I'd love it if you checked us all out and then felt inspired to create something to play along too. If you do please link to your creation in a comment here or on the blog that inspired you.

Cardstock: Soft Sky, various patterned paper
Stamp: Dotty
Ink: Soft Suede
Extras: Primas, brads

Pink Cupcakes

That cupcake looks so scrumptious, doesn't it?!

The papers remind me of a cute, little confectionary shoppe and the cupcake from Mini Sweets just might be on the menu.

I tried to use colors found in the papers for my image and embellishments. And, I love how the nesties shapes just round the whole thing out. They really help the image pack a punch.
Hope this Thursday finds you well and looking forward to the weekend. Thanks so much for your visit today!
Tina

A little organization

Happy Thursday! I've been on an organizational kick recently and it has extended into my stamp room. (Thank goodness!) I tend to be a bit sketch challenged. I have been printing out ones that I like and placing them in various piles throughout my room, the car and the kitchen. I decided to make myself a Sketch book to contain all of the ones I've accumulated.

I got a composition notebook from Staples for $.50 and covered it with some yummy paper from my stash. I used the Funky Swirls which were stamped with Versamark and embossed with gold powder. Now when I see a sketch I draw it in the book. It takes up a lot less space and saves on paper!
Enjoy!

Easy ATCs

These ATCs were just so fun and easy to make:

1. Swipe different colors of ink as your background.
2. Stamp Queen Kat Designs Vintage Time Background Stamp and overstamp Random Text Background Stamp for backgrounds.
3. Attach vintage images.
4. Use Dymo tape for sentiments and adhere. Sometimes, the ink will be too wet for the Dymo tape to adhere properly. Stick Dymo tape to white cardstock and then adhere to collages.
5. Edge all sides with black ink.

Have a great ink-filled day!

*hugs*
Nina

Celebrate Tuesday!

How cute is this little guy!? Or girl? The pink colors can girl it up a bit! Along with some rhinestones, pink & some great flower paper it makes a great little girl birthday card! I used a cute two candle diecut from Quickutz to personalize the birthday card for a little girl turning 2.

This is the Kiss Me Frog Stamp and Celebrate is from the Congratulations Stamp Set.
Hugs- Kelly

And why not keep the fun going
by having them open their lovingly handmade card
and continue to feel the love?!

Sundays are for Stampin' - August 23rd

Happy Sunday to ya and welcome to another edition of Sundays are for Stampin'!! I somehow caught a stomach bug this past Thursday, so today I will be dividing my time between the couch, my scrap room, and the loo...interacting with understanding family members in between =)

Today I'd like to share one of my favorites of all time, using the Hip Aliens stamp set. Hubby and I are very much into aliens, as are the kids, and we are very much into each other, so this stamp set just frosts my cake!! This card is based on a color challenge, and I decided to turn to some of the hundreds of paint chips I’ve picked up over the years, in order to account for most, if not all, of the colors in the inspiration picture.

Paper: DCWV Summer Glitter Stack; Bazzill Bling; GinaK 120lb Pure Luxury cardstock
Inks: Cat’s Eye; Brilliance Graphite Black
Accessories: Copic Sketch markers; white Sakura GellyRoll pen; Nestabilities Labels Two; Love, Elsie ribbon; All My Memories ribbon slide; dew drops colored with Tim Holtz inks; Gutermann thread; Singer sewing machine; K&Company bling; clear and bridal embossing powders; palm tree and heart brads from an eBay seller

Thanks for reading and have a very blessed Sunday!!

Let's Go Shopping!!!

Okay, school is seriously killing me, so to recoup from all of that stress, what should I do! SHOP, of course, and what better place to shop than at Queen Kat Designs!

Don't have time to run to the store, then come to our store. Don't have time to pick papers, embellishments, etc. then get a kit!

QKD offers various kits: The Findings Kit, the Royal Kit, and the Get Inked Kit.

The Findings Kit is new to QKD; it is not "new." It is vintage! It is a bi-monthly vintage kit that we have come up with. Everything in this kit is found! We've hit the road all over the USA to bring you the items in this kit. The Royal Court has come up with a fantastic way to bring the vintage out in you!

Every other month we will have a new Findings kit for you to dig into. It's only $19.50 per kit (if you choose to subscribe for 6 kits) and that includes shipping! That's right, I said, FREE SHIPPING!!

Don't forget about the fabulous stamps and now PRINTS by Maigan Lynn!!! That is right, you can buy 4x6 Art Prints of some of those fabulous mermaids.

Stampin' Saturday for My Hero

I made this card for my dh who's been a hero to so many this summer. He's done everything from remove a four foot snake from a pontoon boat to helping our ds when his car broke down to building furniture for my craft room to removing fallen tree limbs from our last wind storm for our neighbor to just being a good listener during stressful times at work. The QKD My Hero stamp was perfect for this card (I have it hanging from gathered black ribbon, to make it look like a medal). I paired it with a beautiful digital sentiment I downloaded from © Susan McMahon and printed on My Mind's Eye patterned paper. Then I added a lot of Tim Holtz products: Ranger Distress Inks in black soot and spiced marmalade; Idea-ology harlequin elements grungeboard stars and Findings: sprocket gears and game spinners (had to point out what a hero he is); as well as copper Perfect Pearls and What's New Club patterned paper from A2Z Essentials. We have a lot of military history in our family so I think I'll be using the QKD My Hero stamp often in my scrapbooking. I can also see this stamp being used to make cards for troops. I hope this Saturday you have time to scrap a lot. Helene aka 2amscrapper

Golden Dotty

Sometimes the image you are using is striking enough that you don't need any additional layering, coloring, or do-dads. Dotty The Bird is like that. Here I simple worked with some rich colors and silky ribbon to emphasize the image embossed in gold. I love it. A very simple yet striking card that can work for a lot of different occasions.

Cardstock: Dusty Durango, BB, Groovy Guava
Stamp: Dotty the Bird
Ink: Versamark
Extras: Brads, ribbon, Gold EP, ticket corner punch

Sweet Treats

You can see how much I am loving this set, right?!

So full of possibilities and a definite pick me up to whomever receives it. I chose to have my colors match the fun papers I used here. So summery, reminiscent of sherbet. How good does that look?

Hope you have a wonderful Thursday.

Collage Fun

When I first saw the Queen Kat Designs' Random Text Background Stamp and Vintage Time Background Stamp, I just could have died of happiness.
You know when you see the most gorgeous stamp you've ever seen and your mind races to think about projects that you can use it with? Well, in this case, Queen Kat Designs created two of them.
Here are some simple 2 x 2 collages I made and instructions on how I made them:
1. Randomly smear different colors of ink as a background. Edge with black ink.
2. Stamp QKD Random Text Background Stamp and Vintage Time Background Stamp with red ink.
3. Adhere vintage images. Alter them with colored pencils and pens.
4. Attach Dymo tape for thoughts or quotes.
Thanks so much for looking and hope that you have an ink-filled day.

End of Spring Love!

Ok, so technically I suppose it's the end of summer! But, I just had to use this Spring Love set one more time before Fall starts rolling in & school's back in for the year. I just love those little love-birds! Of course, I had to use some very springy colors to go along with the "Spring Love" theme. The cute multi-colored polka dots paper is from Doodlebug.

Hope the spring/summer's been great for everyone!

Hugs- Kelly

Sundays are for Stampin' - August 16th

Happy Sunday to you! Welcome to another edition of Sundays are for Stampin'! The family and I were blessed with a really nice day at a company picnic yesterday, held at Boondocks in Northglenn, Colorado. Needless to say, I am sore and tired and looking forward to stamping all day while the kids finish an art project we began a while back.

Here is a card I made using the Cats with Style stamp set that QK released this month.

I took a bit of a different approach with the cat silhouette look I was trying to achieve: I colored in the cat with both Coffee and Pixie Dust Shimmerz to give it depth; I have to apologize for this being one card that looks so much different IRL, yet I wasn't able to capture that in the photo. I also, for the first time, used the blanket stitch on my sewing machine, and amusingly I've had the machine for nearly 5 years now!! Can't believe I haven't used that interesting stitch before! The sentiment is also in the stamp set, and I do think I like it cut apart and popped individually.

Paper: DCWV Scrapbook Kit in a Stack Cat; Bazzill textured cardstock
Ink: Cat's Eye; StazOn Timber Brown
Accessories: Primas; ribbon; Dress It Up paw brad; Eyelet Outlet cat mix brads

Thanks for reading and have a very blessed Sunday!!

Stampin' Saturday Part 2

Penny and I are in sync this Saturday. I also am showing you how to use the QKD stamps on a layout. Since she posted first, she is below, so be sure to scroll down to take another look. Don't you just love Penny's layout? What a great idea to stamp repeatedly to create your own patterned paper. On my layout, I'm using a QKD sentiment stamp as part of my title. You Brighten My Day is from the Brighten My Day stamp set (click on the words for a direct link into the QKD store to see the entire stamp set and cards created with it ). My particular page has morphed over the past two weeks. (I'm one of those artists who's never done with a project--I have to keep adding to it until I'm happy with it.) So here's the final look, complete with titles, flowers, and some bling. Hope you have some stampin' time this Saturday. Helene

Stampin' Saturday

Oh, how I wish I was stamping today because my new stamps are calling my name and I am so excited about the new stamps that I am working with this month!!! But instead, I am off to a retreat. So, here is a project that I made with one of the background stamps that was released this month -- Random Text Background Stamp

I stamped the image repeatedly on some kraft cardstock and then cut a strip the size I needed and used it as patterned paper on my layout! Remember stamps are not just for cards! Use them for layouts and altered projects!

Scream For Ice Cream

I am a sweets lover, to the core and to a fault. My favorite is ice cream, hands down.

I love this new set, We Scream For Ice Cream. Here I colored it, then added stickles for the whipped cream and punched a circle for the cherry. You can also see the Crystal Effects on the glass.

The fun papers are from October Afternoon and I must say that I adore their papers. I think they work just wonderfully with this whimsical set.

Hope you are having a fabulous Thursday.

Tina

Take me to Funky Town

Funky Swirl town that is.. I am SOOOO in love with this stamp and I was thrilled to be able to work with it this month.

For this one I stamped the swirls with Versamark on the Chocolate Chip paper. I also used a sentiment from the Take a Journey set. I love the way it coordinated together.

Don't forget that there is a huge sale going on in the shop right now! Scoot on over and grab up some sales!
Enjoy!
Lara
