First Stitchery & New Bag

When I was a little girl my parents owned a cabin in Central, Utah. For me, it was a magical place!! My mom would have our bags packed the last day of school and we would head to the cabin for the entire summer! I remember swimming at the Veyo pool, paper-dolls and learning how to do various craft projects.

During the summer when I was seven, mom thought it was time for me to learn how to embroider. (Now we call it stitchery.) We would go to "town" (St. George) and purchase whatever items we needed....and a few we didn't!!

Here is my very first embroidered project! I vividly remember my mom pencil drawing this flower on the bib she bought in town. Not bad for my first attempt! I saved it for my daughter to use and that dream came true. In fact, Dancer asked me when I pulled it out of my cedar chest why it was stained and yellowed? I replied, "Because you spit-up... a lot"!!

Here is what I worked on this week!! I wanted a new (Nanette) bag because I was wearing out the one I made from the kit I purchased from her. I love the style and size of this bag. Don't you love the fabric? I'm loving orange lately!! And I do have another bag in the making...a girl can't have too many bags ya know!!

An Afternoon with Friends & Family

What a fun day!! Saturday afternoon I the opportunity to meet with a few blogging friends in St.George, Utah. Nedra of Cactus Needle Quilts hosted a luncheon for Nanette of Freda's Hive, Sherri of A Quilting Life and me!!

Take a look at this spread!! Nedra made the most delicious meal! Her home-made salsa.....scrumptious! Oh, and her chocolate dessert...yummo!!

Nedra made each of us the cutest potholder! Her stitches are perfect!! I won't be using this as a potholder...it's going on my wall in my quilting room. Thanks Nedra!!

Nanette loves this Caldrea Countertop Cleaner and gave each of us a bottle. It smells wonderful!! She also made each of us a dish cloth to go with it. It's too cute to use!! Thanks Nanette!!

Nedra has a beautiful home and she gave us a tour!! And her sewing room...a dream!! She has her gorgeous quilts displayed throughout her home...and she has a wonderful pincushion collection!

After lunch we visited and looked through some Japanese books Nanette brought down with her. There is such inspiration flowing from the books!! Then we were off to visit a few quilt shops before Nanette had to leave. How fun to watch and learn what each quilter used for their inspired activity!

Here we are: Nanette, me, Sherri and Nedra! Thanks girls!! I had a wonderful and memorable visit!!

On my way home I stopped to visit my cousin who just had her baby!! I had the privilage to see the baby and she is adorable!!

Does she look tiny? That's because she is...she weighed 1 lb. 14 oz.!! And she is 13 inches long!! Mom and baby are doing well!

Spring Break

Happy Easter!! I sincerely hope everyone had a moment to ponder about the Savior.

Eileen and Nanette had the fun idea to share Easter pictures from our days gone by.

So I thought I would share mine!!

Here I am in my Easter bonnet!! I am holding an egg. Can you see my Easter basket just behind me? I still have my white gloves (not shown in this picture) along with one of my Easter bonnets! I am 2 years old in this picture.

Now I want to show you my latest finished project!!...

I won Rosalie Quinlan's Jelly Roll Project Bag pattern from her giveaway!! I made mine from Moda's Recess. I love how it turned out! Even my daughter had positive comments to say about it!! I made it for....

"Please remain seated with your seatbelts fasten until the ride comes to a complete stop."

We just got back Saturday from "The Happiest Place On Earth"!! Dancer took her BFF-M! We all had such a good time! These girls were so fun! The girls ventured off on their own and we would play 'Marco'-'Polo' with cell phones. Aren't they the cutest!?!

We ate too much....

and played really hard!! The park was open till midnight every night and we were there till midnight every night! My feet are still recuperating!!

Saturday we went to Huntington Beach. Here are the girls jumping waves and playing on the beach. Where was I you ask?...sitting on a blanket with my coat on!!

Spring Has Sprung

Although fall is my favorite time of year, I also relish spring. Spring for me is a renewal of my life and spirit. Spring is a season of growth. In spring I have bursts of energy to reorganize, clean out and toss out! Spring is a new beginning...

My irises have started to bloom. I love this rich purple showy flower. We had terrible winds yesterday. Therefore, my irises look a little beat up! But aren't they gorgeous? Another benefit of spring!!

Here was my sneak peek of my spring project! Swanky by Moda has spring written all over it!!

Here is my completed project!! Back to Charmed and Dangerous by Heather Mulder Peterson. I heart this book!!

Thank you Dancer for being my quilt hanger!!
