Basic Banana Muffins

These banana muffins are  buttery, moist

and packed with that

great banana flavor.

The muffins won’t taste banana-y enough if over-ripe bananas aren’t used, the ones with brown spots on the peel.

Broken Spaghetti in Garlic-Butter and Parmesan Sauce

Hankering for a big, full bowl of pasta smothered in a creamy garlic-butter and Parmesan sauce?

If so, I’ve got a great recipe for you!

Chewy Ginger Molasses Cookies, Yum!

Rich sticky molasses helps keep these

incredibly delicious cookies magically

fresh and chewy for days!

I truly love this cookie and so does Bubba ~ it's my favorite ginger cookie.  It’s spicy, loaded with plenty of molasses, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and allspice, but not too spicy or overwhelming.  The spices fuse and trigger your taste buds, popping that unique gingery molasses flavor.

Baked Donut Holes----Two Versions

You might be satisfied with eating just one ~

not me ~

it’s 2 or 3 of these sweet tiny gems for me.

And because they’re baked, not fried,

that’s OK!

I made chocolate donut holes the other day for the chocolate lovers here and then I thought about...

Celebration Time ~ Classic Yellow Cupcakes with Dark Chocolate Frosting

From the rich, creamy, sweet frosting to the delectable moist cake, it’s hard to be in a funk when devouring a cupcake!

The gems first appeared back in 1828 when an ingenious young woman, Eliza Leslie, published her cookbook, Seventy-Five Receipts for Pastry, Cakes and Sweetmeats, which included the recipe for the first cupcake.

Classic Homemade White Bread Recipe

Evidently, the COVID-19 lockdown
 has created the perfect time
for baking bread.

That is,
if you can find yeast and bread flour...

Crispy Stovetop Iron-Skillet Salmon

I was lucky enough to inherit two cast iron skillets ~ a 10-inch skillet from Grandma and a 12-inch skillet from Mom.  They're way up there in years, probably 70 years at the least, and I handle them with TLC!

If you'd tell me that I could only have one cooking utensil in my kitchen,
this is what it would be!

Easy Baked Sugar-free Chocolate Cake Donuts

Mom loved Krispy Kreme donuts,

so did my boss at work.

I didn’t get it ~ seemed to me ~ might as well
eat a cup of sugar.

Even mini chocolate chip calories can add up quickly.  Recently, I was happy to discover Lily’s chocolate chips, a mere 50 calories per tablespoon.

Homemade Baked Cinnamon "Sugar" Donuts

Lately, (like the last 5 years) I’ve seen a plethora of bloggers praising how good their baked donuts ~ I secretly wondered ~ how good are they, really?

The food blogger side of me is just a touch embarrassed to admit I’m more than a little late in hopping on the baked-donut-band-wagon.

RASPBERRY WALNUT LINZER BARS

Classic linzer cookies are a real delight, but this easier rendition has all the basic elements in a pan that you can bake, cut into bars and serve!

A cookie winner for sure, so tasty delicious!

This is an adaptation of Claudia’s Linzer Bars over at What’s Cookin’ Italian Style Cuisine.  She used pistachios, I had a plethora of walnuts on hand and incorporated them.

Buttery Parker House Rolls ~ And Happy Veterans Day!

Mercy!
Bet your taste buds will liven up
when you make these
dinner rolls!

With Thanksgiving nearing, it’s almost time for an entire day of the "three fabulous F’s,” food, family, and football!

Chicken w/Garlic and Mushrooms in White Wine Sauce

Chicken lovers unite, here’s a scrumptious creamy
satisfying dish just for you!

This delicious chicken smothered in a delectable creamy garlic and mushroom sauce with white wine will make you forget it’s a chilly fall day out there, not to mention less daylight. It comes together in no time!

Fresh Peach Cobbler

Ripe juicy peaches with spicy cinnamon and a
buttery cobbler crust,
baked until golden brown and delicious ~
who doesn’t like a sweet treat now and then...

Here, we all like fresh peaches and I was happy to see ripe white peaches at the farmers’ market the other day.

Coconut Cashew Cake

It goes by sanwin makin in Myanmar.  It's a traditional favorite sweet cake there that's full of flavor, and very moist ~ a one-bowl cake; meaning, wet and dry ingredients are mixed together in one bowl.

I’m a fan of the good taste and texture of semolina bread and was intrigued when I saw Thomas Keller on his Milk Street PBS show making this cake.  I just happen to have the The Complete Milk Street TV Show Cookbook but evidently cruised on by this recipe.

Savory Sour Cream Cornbread, it's Divine!

Cornbread is the perfect vehicle
for sopping up the things
that are
on your plate!

Those cracks are a good thing in cornbread!

Everyone has their foibles ~ for me, it’s that corner slab of cornbread ~ the slice with two crispy edges.  Grandma liked it crumbled, submerged in a glass of cold buttermilk, and eaten with a spoon ~ whatever floats your boat...

The Best ~ Classic Chicken and Dumplings

This is an all-time favorite meal here at our house!
And for good reason ~
it’s a delicious comfort dish for chilly snowy weather!

Chicken always gets top billing, but it’s the dumplings that sway people so easily.  There are a plethora of ways to make this dish, and this time I followed Paula Deen’s most of the way...
