Deck the Halls with Annie's Paper Boutique!

Hello Trendy Twine fans!  Today on the Trendy Twine blog we are super excited to jump start the Christmas season with a group post featuring Christmas ornaments.  Now is the time to get working on those fun seasonal projects that you may not have time to complete later on in the season.  Not only would these ornaments be beautiful gracing your own home, they would make fantastic handmade gifts!  Without further ado, here is the project I made to share with you today:

I started with a 2.64" clear acrylic Christmas ornament.  The insert was cut from acetate.  To make the stable design, I stamped the image from the APB Merry Christmas stamps onto white paper, scanned it into my computer, and traced the image in my SCAL4 software to cut out of permanent black vinyl with my Silhouette Cameo.  I did enlarge the image by about 1/2" from what the original stamp was.  Once I rolled the acetate and got it inside the ornament, I added fake snow and lots of Delightful sequins.

For the top of the ornament, I knotted red chevron ribbon from the Chevron Ribbon Sampler first, then made a double bow using Holly Trendy Twine and Totally Kraft Trendy Twine and glued it to the front of the ribbon.  The hanger for the ornament was simply Holly Trendy Twine and I added a small tag to it with a sentiment from the APB Merry Christmas stamp set that was stamped with VersaMark and embossed with Gold powder.

Here's what I used from Annie's Paper Boutique:

DCWV Stackaholic Challenge for December

Hello all! It is that time of the month again...time for the DCWV Stackaholic Challenge! You know you want to join in, right? This month is extra special because it isn't strictly a card or layout sketch...you'll see what I mean at the end of this post ;)
I created a tag shaped ornament.  Some of my favorite childhood memories of Christmas are putting ornaments on our tree that were homemade and personalized, or even boughten ones that family members had given to each of us individually.  It made decorating the Christmas tree so special and personal, so that is why I decided to make an ornament!
The papers I used are DCWV's Cranberry Christmas, Christmas Plaid (available in Jo-Ann Fabrics stores) and the 6x6 Burlap stack.  The poinsettia and square doily files are from SVG Attic's JGW Poinsettia Passion set.  The twines at the top are Candy Cane and Holly Berry Trendy Twines, and the bling is from Oriental Trading.
Now, on to the best part...this month we have a mood board to create from!  It is so wonderful to be able to create with the feeling that one gets from inspirational pictures, colors, and patterns, isn't it?
So get those DCWV papers out and get creating!  Let your imagination run wild.  I can't wait to see what you all create!  You have until the end of the month to participate!  Stop by the DCWV blog for more details.

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Christmas Ornament Tutorials at Joann.com

Hello all!  I was so excited when I saw Christmas projects that I had created on the Joann.com website!  (Thanks for the heads up, Sukie!)  They are created with products from DCWV and Blue Moon Beads.

I wanted to share them with you, because they include tutorials and I thought they might inspire you in some small way.  The pictures in this post are not mine, they are from the Joann Fabrics website and were taken at DCWV.

I didn't find the heart ornament tutorial on their website as seen in the photo above, but here are the instructions:

Woven Heart Ornament:
Supplies: DCWV's 12" x 12" All About Christmas Stack, twine, Blue Moon Beads Christmas charm, buttons, adhesives.
1.      Trace and cut out template on two coordinating papers.

2.      Fold each piece in half, bringing one curved end to the other curved end.  Re-open and apply adhesive to the inside, then re-fold.
3.      Mesh the two coordinating papers together, weaving the paper strips as you go.
4.      Glue the loose ends of the weave down.
5.      Attach twine or thread loop at top and embellish as desired.

If you create any of these ornaments, I would love to see them!
I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

12 Days of Christmas Ornaments

Good morning!  Do you remember the 12 days of Christmas treats that I posted about during The Magic of Christmas blog hop?  Well today I am here to show you part 2 of that display.
For all of the tags on my treat boxes, I used files from SDS 12 Days of Christmas Charms. I added the numbers for the days that were part of the Hand-Painted Christmas paper stack by DCWV.  The decorative tag can be hung on a tree after the treat box is opened!

Here is a look at the small tree that fits all of the ornaments perfectly.  I used Holly Berry and Candy Cane Trendy Twines for the ornament hangers.

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

Christmas Projects for Oriental Trading

Good Friday morning!  I super excited to share some fun Christmas/Winter projects that I created using Oriental Trading's fun scrapbooking supplies.  Here is a look at the whole group that I will be sharing with you in this post.

First up, I created this snowman card.  It was quick to create with the patterned papers in the Winter Wonderland paper pack.  I also used a scalloped border from Winter Wonderland Die Cuts as well as brads from the Christmas embellishment kit.  The sentiment is from the "Happy Holidays" stamp set.
For card #2, I wanted to try a technique that is popular in the crafting world, but I had never used it yet!  It is called triple time stamping.  You keep the layers of white paper stacked on top of each other while stamping so the images all line up.  For this card I used cardstock from Super 150 Paper Sheets pack.  The silver snowflakes are from the Christmas embellishment kit.  I used two stamp sets called Snowflake Scrapbook Stamps and "Happy Holidays" stamps.
This card is a fun teepee style card.  It can be folded flat and the recipient will tie the bow on the side, creating the triangular shape.  The SVG file that I used for this is from SVG Attic's JGW Vintage Valentine set.  I used white cardstock from Super 150 Paper Sheets pack and snowflake die cuts from Winter Wonderland Die Cuts.  To finish it off, I added sequins and a bow of Grey-Gray crinkle ribbon from 3 Girl JAM.
This card is one of my favorites of this set.  Why?  Because the origami tree is actually an ornament!  It is simply held in place on the front of the card by the silver frame anchors, which can be rotated and the ornament is ready to hang on the Christmas tree.  The patterned papers are all from the Christmas/Winter Mat Pack.  The sentiment is a stamp from "Happy Holidays" stamp set.
Next up is a darling gift box snow globe.  I had a lot of fun choosing what Winter Wonderland Die Cuts to use to create the winter scene inside the globe.  I used patterned paper from Winter Wonderland Paper Pack and cardstock from Super 150 Paper Sheets pack.  The SVG files I used for this are from SVG Attic's Snow Flurries set.
This card is another unique one!  It is a tri-fold card that is double sided.  It can create a beautiful display or you can loosen the brads and the snowflakes can be used as ornaments.  I used patterned paper from Winter Wonderland Paper Pack and cardstock from Super 150 Paper Sheets pack.  The snowflakes are cut from DCWV's Glitzy Glitter stack and the sentiment is from the "Happy Holidays" stamp set.  The file I used to create this card is from SVG Attic's Ornament Kit.
The patterned papers on my final card are all from the Christmas/Winter Mat Pack and cardstock is from Super 150 Paper Sheets pack.  I used washi tape from the Red Washi Tape set as well as the Christmas Washi Tape set. The sentiment is from the "Happy Holidays" stamp set and the cute brads are from the Christmas embellishment kit.
Whew!  That was a long post!  I hope you enjoyed seeing all of these creations as much as I did making them.  It is always fun to use scrapbooking products from Oriental Trading.  I definitely recommend you checking out all that they have to offer in that department.

I hope you have a wonderfully crafty day!

The review of these products is based strictly on my opinion. Others may have a different opinion or experience with the products listed above. I was provided the samples free of charge by Oriental Trading Co. and I provided my honest opinion. No other type of compensation was received for this review.

Trendy Twine~Christmas Shaker Medley Ornament

Hello crafty friends!  Today is my day to post on the Trendy Twine blog.  I am featuring one of our brand new Christmas sequin mixes called Christmas Shaker Medley.  It is such a pretty collection of sequins and seed beads!
I created a double sided ornament that is in the shape of a gift.  I wrapped Candy Cane Trendy Twine around the center of the ornament and also for the hanger.  The bow is made out of Holly Berry Trendy Twine.  I placed a Christmas tree sequin from the Christmas Shaker Medley in the middle of the bow.
Here is a closeup of the Christmas Shaker Medley.  Isn't it so pretty?!  So many fun sequins and seed beads in it.
The patterned paper I used for this ornament is from DCWV's Merry Memories stack.

Here is what I used from Annie's Paper Boutique:
