Here we go Loopylou ...

Sorry, that just came into my mind when i was waiting for the pic of my latest finish to upload, i'm sure you all remember the song LOL the reason being this is Silent Flutter by Loopylou Designs It so nice to stitch a hardanger SAL and get help from experienced stitchers/designers. If you've not tried hardanger think about giving it a go in 2008, it's not as difficult as it looks ... honestly

and this is the small Just Nan design i started for my friends birthday, it's called Beehive Violets and was lovely to stitch, such pretty colours. The chart asks for a brass bee but i hadn't got one so substituted the pottery one. Just need to have a think how to finish it off ... any suggestions would be very welcome LOL

Hope you all have a good week, and thanks for stopping by to read my ramblings and see what i've been up to, i hope i don't bore you LOL

Quaker Heart

Friday night Karen and I were chatting and looking at Quaker Designs, we came across this freebie at The Workbasket .... you all know Karens love of hearts so it was decided (she challenged me really lol) we would see if we could stitch it up on Saturday and see just what colours each of us would choose and how different the same design would be. I finished the stitching on mine Saturday and made it up today. I used 28ct jobelan nordic blue using DMC 107, a subtle variegated darker pink. To see Karens you can click the link in her name above.

One SAL or two !

Out came the Ladybugs SAL that i'm doing with Karen last night for the stitchy club and i did make good progress on it even though we were looking at the menu and deciding what to pre-order for our Christmas meal, of course i did the usual and plumped for the obvious .. turkey and all the trimmings LOL

There are a few new LHN and CCN charts out again, have you seen the Gingerbread House one ?? Karen i think we will be continuing our SAL Wednesdays well into 2008!!!!

I was 2 weeks behind with the Silent Flutter SAL from the forum at Jayne's Attic but my yoga class was cancelled this week due to the school half term holidays so i decided to still have the 'me time' and catch up with it. This time was the cutting and the chart asked for wrapped bars but i prefer woven bars so opted to do that instead

I also started another Just Nan little one earlier in the week for a friends birthday next month, forgot all about that so need to get a wriggle on and get it stitched and made up so thats stalled the Christmas stitching again for a couple more nights, oh well ....

Look what i got ....

No stitchy pics to share with you, so i thought i'd show you the surprise i received yesterday. These were from DD's BF, what a nice young man he is, they smell heavenly and really made my day especially as i had set fire to our kitchen the night before and i was feeling a bit stupid !!!! We are all Ok and no lasting damage thankfully, just a lot of mess to clear up afterwards

I have been stitching a little this week, but i really must get organised as i have signed up for a few exchanges that need to be posted at the beginning of December and i have some pressies that i want to stitch as well. Why do we stitchers always leave it till the last couple of months before we start Christmas stitching?? every year i say i will start early but never do LOL

Hope you've all had a good weekend

SAL update ...

Managed to add 2 more flowers and a little bee to the 'Ladybugs' SAL with Karen whilst i was at the stitching club last night. Not a lot of progress i know, but we were making plans and discussing our Christmas meal LOL. We've been stitching this for 6 weeks now. It's strange but when i started this blog i wanted a way of keeping track of my stitching and to be able to look back and see what i had accomplished, but when i read how long i have been doing something it makes me realise just how fast this year is whizzing by .....

Thank you Sally for giving me a 'You make me smile award' on your blog. I am supposed to pass this onto 10 others, but i cannot choose only 10, so i'll award it to all who read my blog because all your comments make me smile

Thanks for stopping by, i do appreciate your visits

Christmas pressie

Hooray!!!! 1 pressie finished, this is Just Nan 'Special Delivery'. It's supposed to have an envelope charm in the middle, but i decided to make in into a biscornu. Stitched on 28ct jobelan barely blue with DMC, Gutterman sparkly gold (instead of kreinik #4 braid) Perle 8 white satin stitch border, perle 12 backstitch border and to sew it together. I decided it needed a little something extra so added the oat beads to the corners. Does it pass the stitchers test??? Will it do LOL

Hope you all had a good weekend, shame it's nose to the grindstone as we're back to Monday, i wanted and extra day this weekend ...

Silent Flutter

Week 3 completed of the Loopylou SAL, this week we added the flowers in the corners, the joy of working with kreinik !!!! This is stitched on 27ct white linda (same as hollyberry), i like this fabric, it seems much better when you come to cutting the hardanger bits, it's quite a bit stiffer than others and you can see the holes much better so a good fabric if you are new to hardanger

Guess what weather we are having today??? and why is it that a certain Mr Moe always wants a big cuddle when he is sopping wet - no chance matey unless you let me catch you with the towel and dry you off a bit. He's decided to sneak off and go and catch a few ZZZZ's on the chair in the office now, that sounds like a good idea, maybe i could have a nap myself this afternoon LOL

Hollyberry Finished

HUGE thanks go to Jayne at Jayne's Attic and Lynda Bodkin of Loopylou Designs for organising this SAL, this was my first big hardanger project and without their help and encouragement i know i would never have tackled it. It seems like forever since we started it back in February but now it's finished i'm going to miss it. It's stitched on 27ct linda using DMC (2 different reds and the green) Kreinik #4 braid and Kreinik #8 gold ribbon and a lot of gold beads (which don't show on the pic very well). I've learnt so many new things doing this one.

Just for you Karen, here's my westie kennel club, at least these ones don't have to be fed and walked every day !!!!!

So what has everyone been up to over the weekend then?? the weatherman got it all wrong again didn't he, we were supposed to have a nice sunny weekend .... all i got here was dull and dreary, ideal weather for DH and i going off shopping, we picked up a new vacuum cleaner (what joy!!) guess what i'll be doing tomorrow LOL

Happy Stitching and blogging

Ladybugs SAL

Week 4 and I chose to stitch a few more words, they always seem to stitch up quickly. Rachael asked last week what fabric i was using for this one, it's a 32ct lugana from silkweaver called 'Sand', if you click the link and scroll down it's on the left hand side and you'll see the colour of it better than it shows on my picture

I've also started a Christmas gift, it's a Just Nan design, and the title totally escapes me now i've come to tell you about it, so that'll have to wait till i show you a pic ..... having a senior moment here !!!! (no offence intended)

I'd like to say a big 'well done' to all the ladies who join us at UFO stitch night at Jayne's Attic, you've all made such great progress on your 'got left behind' stitching this year and we've had a lot of designs that have actually been finished and most of all, a lot of fun along the way with Mr Stick LOL

Hope you've all had a good week so far, Mr Sunshine poked his head out for a while today and that always make me feel brighter ....
