For a very special old mummy

In about 2 hours it's my boyfriend's birthday. A very special one as well, as he'll turn 30 this year (me as well, but I'll always be the younger and more beautiful one, even if it's just by 6 months *evil grin*). This occasion screams for a especially gentle and loving card. Some of you might already know it's a hard transition from being a twen to becoming 30... all grown up, all mature and responsible and damn, why don't I feel like any of this! ROFL

You might think this card looks familiar. That is probably due to Mummy Edwin. I think he is THE perfect stamp for any man turning 30, 40, 50, you name it and I already used him once last September, when my best friend went through the same transition.

A couple more pictures, this time with the present he'll get. I stamped Mummy Edwin on the brown packing paper using Memento Rich Cocoa and used real bandages as a ribbon.

Closed it looks ordinary and harmless enough, doesn't it?

Of course I am going to submit this card to several challenges. The main one is Simon Says, because I chose the colour theme according to the challenge and I am trying again to become part of this fab DT. Perhaps I'll luck out this time ^__^

Okay, here we go:

Simon Says Stamp - Coffee & Cream

Stampin for the Weekend - Monochrome (I hope this counts as monochrome as I went from cream to dark brown, but it's still all brown, so...)

Stempeleinmaleins - The Sketch (Sorry, I don't own any Penny Black stamsp anymore, so I couldn't go for the extra challenge this time)

Stamptacular Sunday - S.O.S SomeOne Special (for the man who's shared my life for the last 10+ years)

Stamp With Fun - Recipe (3 papers, 3 flowers, 1 ribbon)

All That Scraps Monthly Magnolia Challenge
- Let's Celebrate Birthdays (because 2 entries are allowed ^___^ and her tutorial actually reminded me that I wanted to do a twised easel card for some time and never did)

Magnolia Down Under - Flower Power (this was total coincidence though and not a planned entry)

Recipe:

Stamp: Magnolia
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Distress Ink Frayed Burlap, Brushed Cuduroy and Walnut Stain
Cardstock: Bazzil and white noname
Design Paper: Magnolia and Stampin' Up
Colouring: Copics & Spica Glitter Pens

Dies & Punches: Marianne Design, Magnolia & Provocraft
Embellishments: Brown flatback pearls, buttons, seam binding ribbon
Other: Glossy Accents

A very purple birthday

Good morning everyone! I finished a card tonight (finally, I already thought my muse had packed up and left after my "easter monster project) and lucked out on the light today. Morning sunshine, how unbelievable is that?

As some of you might know, purple is one of my absolute favourite colours and when I saw the current challenge at "Hanna & Friends" I knew I had to make a card for it, no matter how bitchy my muse was LOL. I got carried away as usual, because it turned out VERY purple, indeed, my other colour is hardly noticable at all *blush*, but it's purple, I love it.

I followed several challenge again on this one:

Hanna & Friends
- Purple & one other colour (grey in my case)

Everybody Art Challenge - The sketch I used.

A Spoon Full of Sugar
- Birthday Wishes

Kreative Stempelfreunde
- Kariert

Stamp Something - Something with Flowers

PaperPlay - Let's Get Sentimental

Truly Scrumptious - Swirls & Pearls

All That Scraps Monthly Magnolia Challenge
- Let's Celebrate Birthdays

Allsorts - Make Your Own Flowers

Quite a few ^____^

And here comes the recipe for this card:

Stamps: Magnolia & Whimsy Stamps
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, London Fog & Lulu Lavender, Briliance Platinum Planet, Distress Ink Dusty Concord
Carstock: Grey Rayher cardstock, white noname and a pearlescent basic card
Design Paper: Magnolia Bon Voyage Collection
Colouring: Copics

Dies & Punches: Spellbinders Nestabilities, butterfly from MS, Manolia Swirl and Flowers
Embellishments: Paper doily dyed with London Fog and Platinum Plant, Stickles in "Lavender" and light grey flatback pearls.

I proudly present: The Mysterious Easter Decoration Project

I spend the last 3 hours trying to take decent pictures and it's more or less a total loss, but I can't help it now anyway. I had to take the pictures today and those are what I've got.

This post is going to be a huge pic spam, I apologize for that *gg*

I finished the letters on Thursday and thought I'd be done with it the next day, the only thing remaining to do was taking pictures.
In the middle of the night I woke up with a realization and an idea (yes, I am borderline crazy LOL). With my cats I can't have any floor decoration and I don't have enough space on any kind of board or sideboard to row the letters up on.

So I went and bought this backboard, it's a lightweight wood and painted it green. I am anything but a talented painter, but I hope I achieved a modicum of a grass look *g*.

Yesterday morning I started punching and assemblinig the flowers, fireflies and butterflies, but since I had planned an all day shopping trip with my parents, I lost most of the day, so I finished the punching and assembling this morning, finally.

Pictures, like I already said, were as always a huge pain in the ass. The only consolation is that I wouldn't have been able to take better ones on Friday or yesterday as well.

I need to get this additional flashlight for my camera, which can be angled so the light of the flash is indirect. But it costs a small fortune, so this has to wait until my birthday in 6 months.

I'll post the recipe for this monster later, I haven't had the time yet and I have a lot of pictures for that post as well of all the colors used.

I made the Top 1 ...

... at Hanna and Friends!

With the heart shaped box I showed yesterday, actually ^____^.

As of yet I have still nothing new to show you, but I am nearly finished with my big Magnolia easter project and I expect I'll have pictures up soon. At the weekend the latest. I am currently putting the finishing touches to it and then there is just the task of taking pictures. I hope the Gods of good natural light will be smiling down on me *gg*

Heart Box - There is a first time for everything

EDIT: Taaadaaa, here it is, the promised sunshine picture. We were lucky though, yesterday it was dark and gloomy all day and I had to keep the lights on the whole day long.

Sorry for this horrible pictures, but it's so gloomy here. I'll edit a better non-flash one as soon as I am able to take one.

The Hanna & Friends Challenge for this week gave me the idea for this heart box. And it nearly did take me all week to make it. Today is the last day to submit it actually.
I didn't like the original heart template going with the challenge, so I chose my own. Originally I just wanted a softer, more rounded heart, nothing too fancy, mind you. But then I came across this shape and I just HAD to try it. I am such an overachiever sometimes.

This is not only my first heart shaped box ever, no more like my first box ever in general. I have loads of things I want to do an my to do list and boxes are on there more than you can count, but I never actually made one.
So, yes, of course it would make sense to chose such a template for a first try *snort*

But it came out okay. It even didn't give me too much pain on the way there. I just should have glued the ribbon and lace more thoroughly an right half of the heart, since it is gaping now, but especially with the lace it just wasn't possible without the glue showing.

Another first time for me: I am way ahead of time. While making this box I decided it would be the perfect gift for mother's day. (For anyone non German, that is what the sentiment in the upper right corner says ;o) )
Now I just have to think of something to put in there and I am all settled.

Once again there are several challenges I want to submit this little box to:

Hanna and Friends
- Heartbox

The Crafty Pad - Hearts

Cupcake Craft Challenge - I ♥ You

Papertake Weekly - Put On The Glitz

Steckenpferdchen Challenge
- Liebe

A Spoon Full of Sugar
- Anything but a card

That's it.

Recipe:

Stamp: Magnolia
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black & Cottage Ivy, Distress Ink Victorian Velvet

Designpaper: Magnolia
Coloring: Copics

Flower: Wild Orchid Craft
Ribbon/Lace: Crafty Ribbon Seam Binding Ribbon, lace from Wild Orchid Craft
Dies/Punches: Nellie Snellen and Magnolia
Other: Paper Doily from Little Yellow Bicycle, sentiment from Kanban, flatback pearls and rhinestones and Stickles in "pink"

New hÄnglar girl

EDIT: Sunlight, second time in a row. Can you believe it? LOL Spring is getting here, slowly but surely. The rhinestone shows its true color better on the flash picture though... strange little bugger.

I received my hÄnglar kit 26 yesterday around noon and something happened that very rarely does happen with me. I had to ink this little cutie up right away and make a card LOL.
I couldn't take any pictures of it anymore when I was finished and for today I am still not able to take a non flash daylight picture, but perhaps later. It looks like we'll have a clear and bright afternoon.

Making this card I followed a sketch, a color combination and a theme and I therefore will submit to the following challenges:

Just Magnolia and hÄngalr & stÄnglar - Mina's Sketch

Colour Create Challenge - Chocolate, Strawberry and Cream

Stamp Something - Something for your Valentine

As I don't send out cards for Valentine I chose a sentiment that would go with a birthday as well, but I think it would still also qualify as a valentine card ;o)

Recipe:

Stamps: hÄnglar & stÄnglar, LotV
Inks: Tuxedo Memento Black, Distress Ink Walnut Stain & Brushed Cuduroy
Cardstock: Bazzil, pearlescent card and white no-name
Design Paper: Nitwit, the lighter one is from the Affection Too kit, the darker one I just don't remember right now.
Coloring: Copics and Spica Glitter Pens

Flowers: Wild Orchid Craft
Ribbon: The red one is from Crafty Ribbon, the brown one from a local drugstore.
Dies & Punches: Spellbinders and SU Word Label Punch
Other: Cream flatback pearls and a red flatback rhinestone.

A little hÄnglar love

EDIT Feb 9th: Small miracles do actually happen! The sun is shining like mad today and I managed to take this picture about 3 minutes ago. Yay! Look how my card suddenly doesn't look all dull and cold anymore. I wish that would happen more often, sigh.

A card, as promised. Bad pictures als always LOL.

I got my new Magnolia Dies yesterday and was finally able to add the finishing touches to this card. It's the first one for a really long time without any flower whatsoever, but all the ore hearts to compansate *gg*

I'll enter the following challanges with this card:

A Spoon Full of Sugar
- Let's see some love

Stamp with fun
- Liebe/Love

Stamptacular Sunday - Hearts Gone Wild

Allsorts Challenge
- It must be love, love, love

Stampin' for the Weekend
- Valentines Day

Just Magnolia & hÄnglar Challenge
- Anything goes, but add some ribbon

Simon Says Challenge
- Love is in the air

The Crafty Pad
- Love is in the air

Die kreativen Stempelfreunde
- Valentine

Double Dutch
- Love is in the air

Papertake Weekly - Have a Heart

Creative Card Crew
- For a Loved One

Everybody Art Challenge
- Valentine

Cards and More
- Herzen

Wow, I think I've never entered even half so many challenges with just one card. I mean, not that it's really my accomplishment, more dumb luck that so many fab challenge blogs chose the theme of love instead of sketches or recipes, but I love it anyway. I wish I would manage more challenges per week, I'm just too slow, so I'll savor this one ;o)

Recipe:

Stamps: hÄnglar & stÄnglar, Whimsy Stamps
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Distress Ink Walnut Stain, Victorian Velvet & Brushed Cuduroy, Brilliance Platinum Planet
Cardstock: Bazzill Bark, white cardstock
Design Paper: Nitwit Cottage Charm Too
Coloring: Copics
For the girl.

For the boy.

Dies/punches: Magnolia, Spellbinders
Other: heart shaped flatback pearls, heart shaped doily, seam binding ribbon, 3mm satin ribbon, Glossy Accents

Still alive, still working on my easter project

I thought I'd show my face again and the rest of my colored images for my easter project. I don't know if they are enough, especially the accessories might be too few, but I'll have to check that in hopefully a few days when I can add these cuties into the project.
I finished coloring yesterday, finally. I had few bad days, feeling under the weather and all that fun, so coloring took me about 4 days longer than I intended to *sigh*.
But the cutting went much faster. I expected to at least spend several more days at it. I started yesterday night in front of the TV and finished early this afternoon. I even managed not to rub my fingers raw. Yay, big accomplishment.
Scissors always hurt me :o(

This one is being stubborn, but blogger won't let it rotate me correctly.

Some of the colors look really dull in the pictures like the blue butterflies, which are actually a very vibrant mix of blue, green and yellow. I hope I'll manage much better pictures, once the whole thing is finished.

I'll also have a card ready sometime this week to show you, but until then only more sneaks, I'm afraid. Sorry. I hope it'll be at least worth it. I'm still afraid I'll fail in the end.
