Quiet Day

I had a quiet day...I did some laundry and put a roast in the crockpot.  Salad and roast pork was what was for supper.  It was a warm day the high was 86F or 30C eh!   I read, watched/ napped through a couple of movies and played a game with Aubrey and Katie.

Aubrey is here for a few more days with her Mom and Dad last week she had surgery in the Cities, she had two bone grafts in her mouth.  She is a trooper...still looking at 2 or 3 surgeries after the grafts.  Aubrey is our great niece and she was born with a bilateral cleft palate and has endured many surgeries.

Far Guy went to a nearby car show he gathered with his Car Club group.  He said it was a miserable day...no AC in the old gal Tilly.  I comforted myself thinking that at least I had a car with AC should he break down and need a ride.

A Smile

I smiled when I opened this Christmas Card.

I thought it was just perfect. The photo is of my other baby brother's grands.

14 was so happy with his sign that he ran with it!   As you can see it is even 7 boys and 7 girls.   It has been a joy to watch these little ones grow up.

10 1/2 years ago there were only 7 grands  and they were so little!  This was the oldest boys (the twins) 5th birthday party back in June of 2009.

*****

Far Guy reports his arm is a bit stiff after the Moderna Vaccination...other than that he has no symptoms.

Little Smiles

The package arrived in Michigan for the Great Grands.   Maddie put photos on facebook.

So serious...

And they fit!  Success! And a smile!  She is sitting on her brothers blankie that I crocheted for him when he was born.

Since I was sending something for Cee Cee I had to send something for Hey Mikey!

He likes ice cream and his Mom will buy a gallon of ice cream and he can have ice cream many times.

I wish these Great Grands didn't live so far away.

Aubrey Smiles

Last night I called over to Katie’s and asked if Aubrey was awake and If she was and I came over would she talk to me or not? ( Sometimes she will not say a word.) She  will be four later this spring. She is my Great Niece and she lives next door with her older twin brothers.

I was delivering a gift from Jo down the road.  Jo had been making tutus and thought of Aubrey and made her a multi colored one.  Aubrey was thrilled!

The huge smile says it all!   She posed for photos and then asked to see them!  She is a doll:)

May 02 Still Snowing

It is still snowing, it snowed again during the night.  It is very cold, the North wind howls like a banshee.  I have to wear socks with my crocs or my snow boots.  It is May..my daughter called it “the seventh month of winter”..she really knows how to cheer me up.

This is Chance and the snow this morning. Welcome to Minnesota.  I bet the snow birds are just a bitching..most of them are back..I bet they are all half frozen..golfing must really suck in a blizzard.

We went for a ride yesterday..

Two Turkeys were running through Steve and Jo’s pasture.  We saw two turkeys, a deer, a Canada Goose, a Bald Eagle, and a few Robins pecking sand in the road.  We heard that a Mountain Lion has been sighted and that he/she took down and killed one of the neighbors horses..scary..who eats horse meat when venison is available?

All the May Day Baskets were delivered…all the children were smiling.

This is a special smile....from a special girl.  Aubrey has another recheck with the Surgeons this month, to re-evaluate her palate.  Her speech is getting much better, either that or we are getting used to her speech.  She goes to speech help twice a week. We all appreciate her smile..something that we took for granted before her birth.  One out of every 600 children born is born with a cleft lip and or palate. Aubrey is my Great Niece and she lives next door:)

Once in a Blue Moon

We went to a hobby shop yesterday, and Far Guy met a bunch of other "train people" ..it was rather funny.. You see Far Guy has O scale trains..someone was asking a question about them and the store owner said well do you know Far Guy?  Of course they didn't ..but they do now.

It was cold yesterday,  and this morning it was -12 degrees F or-24 degrees C  way to cold to go out.  So we will stay at home today.

Yesterday on our way home, I took a photo at the end of the drive..actually I took several.  There is a sun-dog off to the right under the two small camera flares.

Then I took this photo..honest it is straight out of the camera..I would not pull your leg..I consider it one last gift from 2009.   I will have to consult with one of my camera friends for an explanation..was it too cold..maybe Ed or someone else will know.. maybe it was just equal camera flares.

Around five o'clock I took off with my tripod to see if I could capture the blue moon.. I did.  The moon is not easy to photograph especially once it gets dark.

I walked down to my brothers..eight children under the age of five were there..I got to feed the new baby..a room temperature bottle..she seemed to like it..I would have warmed it up but her Mother ( my niece)  said..that's the way she gets it all the time.   Of course I gave her a load of what for about that..she knows me well so she just ignores me.  This newest baby isn't showing any inclination to scream when I enter the room ..yet...however my niece did a fairly good impression for her.   When I walked back home the moon was obscured by clouds..good thing I had my trusty ugly yellow flashlight.

Far Guy was still laying  down when I got home,  I did rouse him to listen to some music with me.  I let him listen to some Judith Durham ( former Seekers), I picked the Righteous Brothers "Unchained Melody"  for a quick little belly rubbing slow dance around the living room.  Then I progressed through some of my favorites by Roy Orbison "Pretty Woman",  Abba "Dancing Queen"  and one of Bob Dylan's old songs sung by Adele " Make you feel my love" , and "Smile" by Uncle Kracker  ..oh yeah and Meatloaf.."Two out of Three Ain't Bad".  I am pretty fussy with my music..if I like it I listen to it forever..rarely adding new songs.. this years big add was "Smile".  Here's to more smiles in twenty ten:)
