Teachers now integrate smartphone apps, digital tools, and educational technology to engage students and enhance teaching effectiveness. Recognizing the digital preferences of language learners is essential. Feedback from students is a valuable educational resource that offers insights into methods, approaches, and curricula. Such insights guide educators and curriculum designers, shaping the future of language education. Given the advancements of this era and evolving learner needs, language teaching approaches must adapt, incorporating technological shifts into syllabuses, schedules, and curriculums. However, determining the most effective digital tools from the learners' perspective and understanding why remains a question. This research delves into the perspectives and trends of international students learning Turkish in a university in Türkiye, aiming to uncover their inclinations towards technology-based resources and digital tools. The study's research questions explore the extent of digital tool usage among foreign language learners, the specific digital tools they utilize, the reasons behind their choices, and the skills they apply through these tools. Furthermore, this article addresses the importance of digital literacy for both students and educators.

The history of teaching Turkish as a foreign language dates back hundreds of years. Individual st... more The history of teaching Turkish as a foreign language dates back hundreds of years. Individual studies and formal projects in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language have gradually increased worldwide and in Turkey especially in recent years. When it is compared to the studies on the other languages widely spoken all over the world and considering the popularity of learning Turkish as a foreign language, it is estimated that the works must be replaced on a professional level. In the process of teaching Turkish as a foreign language, there are not only the cooperation problems in institutionalization but also the problems about the lack of academicians and professionals and especially the capacities of the programs organized to compansate this deficiency of academicians and professionals on the field. In the study, the evaluations on the efforts made over the recent years in the process of teaching Turkish as a foreign language and the obtained results are presented. The experiences of the academicians who were employed in the process of teaching Turkish as a foreign language abroad and their contributions to the field were analyzed and 'narrative research' which is one of the qualitative research methods were used to obtain the data.

In the study, language transfers of Belarusian university students who speak Belarusian and Russian as the two official languages while they were studying Turkish as a primary foreign language, were studied throughout analyzing the texts systematically written by the students during the learning process. The main focus of the research is mother tongue interference and language transfer. As it is known, the mother tonque interference can occur positively or negatively in language learning process based on the similarities and differences between the target and native languages. Learners native language comes into power and influences the production in the target language when the learners language skills are not developed yet enough. This is the reason why the negative transfer or mother tongue interference occurs in learners target language learning process. This study as an example of comperative linguistic studies involves language interference analysis between the Turkish that resembles the agglutinating languages and supposed to be a member of Altai group and Russian that resembles the fusional languages which supposed to be a member of Eastern-Slavic group.

İletişimseldir, sosyal, doğal, değişken, kurallarla çalışan, yaratıcı, keyfi ve seslidir. Konuşma dilin özellikle sesli kısmında ortaya çıkan bir davranış, bir dil kabiliyetidir. Bir iletişim ve aktarım yöntemidir konuşma. Konuşma sürecinde kişiler sahip oldukları bir takım kabiliyetleri bilinçli ya da biliçsiz olarak sergilerler. Genel kabul gören dil kabiliyetleri Michael Canale ve Merrill Swain tarafından 1980'lerde ortaya konmuştur. Buna göre dil kabiliyetleri; dilbilgisi, söylem, sosyo linguistik ve stratejik olacak şekilde sıralanmıştır. Harris (1977) konuşma davranışının doğal akış içerisinde kullanılması gereken telaffuz, dilbilgisi, akıcılık, kelime ve algılama gibi farklı becerilerin farklı aşamalarda gelişimiyle sıkça alakalı olan karmaşık yapılı bir beceri olduğunu söyler. Dolayısıyla kişilerin dil becerileri test edilirken bu karmaşık yapının doğru ve dikkatlice test ve analiz sürecinden geçmesi oldukça önemlidir. Bu çalışmada Türkiye'nin farklı bölgelerinden gelip üniversitenin farklı fakülte bölümlerinde öğrenim gören 100 öğrenciye ana dilde konuşma becerisi değerlendirme testi birkaç boyutu ile ele alınıp uygulanmış, sonuçlar sosyal bilimlerde istatistiksel analiz aracıyla analiz edilip çalışmada sunulmuştur.

In its absence, Humans suffer from a lack of trust in each other since they cannot speak in the same language. If they fail to communicate, this incapability leads to problems. Additionally, individual and common social communication can beperformed by language education, as well and language education is directly associated with the cultural transmission. Kyrgyzstan Turkey Manas University functions as an educational bridge between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan and offers education in Turkish (Turkey Turkish). Moreover, there are Turkey Turkish departments at Humanitarian Social Sciences University and Yusuf Balasagun Kyrgyz National University in Kyrgyzstan. The ongoing Language Reinforcement Project annually offers training to the students of these departments of the contracted organizations for six months. According to the scholars’ views how the Kyrgyz students who had the chance to come to Turkey via the Language Reinforcement Projectwere affected by the internship in general and how the components of this project will contribute to Turkish and Kyrgyz peopleare the research questions of the study.The sample of the research consists of ten volunteer scholars working at Yusuf Balasagun Kyrgyz National University in Kyrgyzstan in the Fall Term of the 2018-2019 Academic Year. Six female and four male scholars participated in the research. This study is a qualitative research study and the data collection tool of the study is the interview. According to the results of the study, the scholars expressed their satisfaction with the students’ internship or training in Turkey as well as the other advantages.

Language is one of the primary cultural values of a nation and therefore the developed countries ... more Language is one of the primary cultural values of a nation and therefore the developed countries cannot leave the teaching of their state language to chance. The studies about teaching Turkish and researching the Turkish language as a science have been made by the domestic and national Turkologists recently, and by the foreign Turkologists for the period of 100 and 150 years previously. This study focuses on the research on teaching Turkish as a foreign language textbooks written by the Russian writers. In the study, some of the materials written by the Russian in teaching Turkish as a foreign language context, will be analyzed. This study adresses the texbooks on teaching Turkey Turkish written by the Russians for the Russian speakers in their territory, examining the topics in, investigating how they dealt with the methods and approaches, and in which language and culture policy influences these materials. The general information about the writer and the material, topics, includings, introduction, preface, data on grammer in the textbooks analyzed by the content analysis method. The textbooks analyzed in the study are grammer textbooks rather than the coursebooks. Therefore grammer translation method is a general systematic grammer teaching methodology in the books. The fonology, morfology and syntax of Turkish is presented by different writers in a different approach. Some of the textbooks includings the sections about the writers own teories and discoveries about Turkish grammer and some sections on language exercises. The texbooks have been prepared within the period of Turkish Republic SSSR and Russian Federation. The studies in Russian Federation on teaching Turkish as a foreign language need to be analyzed within the bi-lateral relations between Turkey and Russia. On the other hand, the studies in the field of Turkology must consider the Russian-Turkish and Turkish-Russian political relations. The political relations between the two nations appeared historicaly as Ottoman Empire - Russian Tsarism in the beginning of XX century, Turkish Republic - USSR after the 1920s, and the Turkish Republic and Russian Fedaration after the year 1991. In the study, the effects of these political relations in terms of changing states policies, national and international policies, political events, economic and socio-cultural interaction between the two nations, in teaching Turkish as a foreign language coursebooks are analyzed.

Dil bir milletin kültürel değerlerinin başında gelir ve bundan dolayıdır ki gelişmiş devletler dillerinin öğretilmesini rastlantılara bırakamaz. Türkçenin bir bilim dalı olarak incelenmesi ve öğretilmesi ile ilgili çalışmaların, son dönemlerde yerli Türkologlar tarafından, yüz, yüz elli yıllık dönemde ise yabancı Türkologlar tarafından yürütüldüğü görülmektedir. Çalışmamızda Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretilmesi sürecinde Ruslar tarafından kaleme alınmış eserlerden bir kaçı incelenecektir. Rusların Türkiye Türkçesini öğretmek için yazdıkları materyallerin incelenmesi, bu materyallerin Türkçe öğretimi açısından değerlendirilmesi çalışmanın odaklandığı konu olacaktır. Rus coğrafyasında Türkçe öğrenmek isteyenler için hazırlanmış eserlerde görülen yöntem ve yaklaşım özellikleri, dil ve kültür politikalarının etkisi, yazar ve eserle ilgili genel, yine eserle ilgili konu, içerik, önsöz, dil bilgisi doküman incelemesi yapılmış, veriler içerik analizi yöntemiyle çözümlenmiştir. Çalışmada incelenen eserler bir ders kitabı olma özelliğinden çok bir gramer kitabı özelliği taşımaktadırlar. Dolayısıyla büyük oranda dilbilgisi çeviri yönteminin kullanıldığı sistematik bir gramer öğretimi yöntemi uygulaması izlenmiştir. Türkçenin fonetik, morfolojik ve sentaktik özellikleri yazarlara göre farklı yaklaşımların sergilendiği özellikleri içermektedir. Bazı eserlerde, gramer konuları ile ilgili çeşitli alıştırma çalışmaları ile yazarın Türkçe grameri üzerine kendi özel keşif ve teorilerinin olduğu bölümlere de yer verilmiştir. Eserler, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti-SSCB ve Rusya Federasyonu döneminde hazırlanmıştır. Türkçe öğretimi açısından, Rusya coğrafyasında Türkoloji alanında yapılan çalışmaların Rus-Türk ve Türk-Rus ilişkileri çerçevesinde ki incelemeleri de önem arz etmektedir. Bu ilişkiler tarihi süreçte XX. yüzyıl başlarında Osmanlı Devleti-Rus Çarlığı, 1920’lerden sonra Türkiye Cumhuriyeti-Sovyetler Birliği ve 1991 yılından sonra ise Türkiye Cumhuriyeti-Rusya Federasyonu şeklinde görülür. Çalışmada, XX. yüzyıl başlarında Osmanlı Devleti-Rus Çarlığı, 1920’lerden sonra Türkiye Cumhuriyeti-Sovyetler Birliği ve 1991 yılından sonra ise Türkiye Cumhuriyeti-Rusya Federasyonu şeklinde görülen ilişkilerin, değişen devlet politikalarının, uluslararası ilişkilerdeki seyri, siyasi olayların etkisi, ekonomik ve sosyo-kültürel temasların Çarlık, Sovyet ve Rus Türkolojisi’ nin kaynaklık ettiği Türkçe öğretimi alanında yazılmış eserlere yansımalarına da değinilecektir.

The historical background of the Turkish studies in Russia displays different stages according to... more The historical background of the Turkish studies in Russia displays different stages according to the political changes in the region. The first studies began in 1700s with the Peter I, within the framework of Russian-Ottoman relations. By the time the centers, scholars and the works of Soviet Turkology became multiplied. Depending on the nation of autonomous and independent Turkic Republics in the region, the studies and researches focused on not only about the culture of the Turkic world but also on Turkic languages. Teaching learning process of the Turkish language was strongly supported by the many specific publications on the topic especially in the term of USSR and after the collapse of it. The publications especially the recent ones about teaching Turkish as a foreign language to the speakers of Russian explored and enclosed in this study.

Çalışmada, XX. yüzyıl başlarında Osmanlı Devleti-Rus Çarlığı, 1920’lerden sonra Türkiye Cumhuriyeti-Sovyetler Birliği ve 1991 yılından sonra ise Türkiye Cumhuriyeti-Rusya Federasyonu şeklinde görülen ilişkilerin, değişen devlet politikalarının, uluslararası ilişkilerdeki seyri, siyasi olayların etkisi, ekonomik ve sosyo-kültürel temasların Çarlık, Sovyet ve Rus Türkolojisi’ nin kaynaklık ettiği Türkçe öğretimi alanında yazılmış eserlere yansımalarına da değinilecektir.

friendship and belonging. In its absence, Humans suffer from a lack of trust in each other since they
cannot speak in the same language. If they fail to communicate, this incapability leads to problems.
Additionally, individual and common social communication can beperformed by language education,
as well and language education is directly associated with the cultural transmission. Kyrgyzstan
Turkey Manas University functions as an educational bridge between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan and
offers education in Turkish (Turkey Turkish). Moreover, there are Turkey Turkish departments at
Humanitarian Social Sciences University and Yusuf Balasagun Kyrgyz National University in
Kyrgyzstan. The ongoing Language Reinforcement Project annually offers training to the students of
these departments of the contracted organizations for six months. According to the scholars’ views
how the Kyrgyz students who had the chance to come to Turkey via the Language Reinforcement
Projectwere affected by the internship in general and how the components of this project will
contribute to Turkish and Kyrgyz peopleare the research questions of the study.The sample of the
research consists of ten volunteer scholars working at Yusuf Balasagun Kyrgyz National University in
Kyrgyzstan in the Fall Term of the 2018-2019 Academic Year. Six female and four male scholars
participated in the research. This study is a qualitative research study and the data collection tool of
the study is the interview. According to the results of the study, the scholars expressed their
satisfaction with the students’ internship or training in Turkey as well as the other advantages.

Öz
Dil bir milletin kültürel değerlerinin başında gelir ve bundan dolayıdır ki gelişmiş devletler dillerinin öğretilmesini rastlantılara bırakamaz. Türkçenin bir bilim dalı olarak incelenmesi ve öğretilmesi ile ilgili çalışmaların, son dönemlerde yerli Türkologlar tarafından, yüz, yüz elli yıllık dönemde ise yabancı Türkologlar tarafından yürütüldüğü görülmektedir. Çalışmamızda Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretilmesi sürecinde Ruslar tarafından kaleme alınmış eserlerden bir kaçı incelenecektir. Rusların Türkiye Türkçesini öğretmek için yazdıkları materyallerin incelenmesi, bu materyallerin Türkçe öğretimi açısından değerlendirilmesi çalışmanın odaklandığı konu olacaktır. Rus coğrafyasında Türkçe öğrenmek isteyenler için hazırlanmış eserlerde görülen yöntem ve yaklaşım özellikleri, dil ve kültür politikalarının etkisi, yazar ve eserle ilgili genel, yine eserle ilgili konu, içerik, önsöz, dil bilgisi doküman incelemesi yapılmış, veriler içerik analizi yöntemiyle çözümlenmiştir. Çalışmada incelenen eserler bir ders kitabı olma özelliğinden çok bir gramer kitabı özelliği taşımaktadırlar. Dolayısıyla büyük oranda dilbilgisi çeviri yönteminin kullanıldığı sistematik bir gramer öğretimi yöntemi uygulaması izlenmiştir. Türkçenin fonetik, morfolojik ve sentaktik özellikleri yazarlara göre farklı yaklaşımların sergilendiği özellikleri içermektedir. Bazı eserlerde, gramer konuları ile ilgili çeşitli alıştırma çalışmaları ile yazarın Türkçe grameri üzerine kendi özel keşif ve teorilerinin olduğu bölümlere de yer verilmiştir. Eserler, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti-SSCB ve Rusya Federasyonu döneminde hazırlanmıştır. Türkçe öğretimi açısından, Rusya coğrafyasında Türkoloji alanında yapılan çalışmaların Rus-Türk ve Türk-Rus ilişkileri çerçevesinde ki incelemeleri de önem arz etmektedir.
