Being a single woman having to do this…

Being a single woman having to do this process alone, I was nervous about being around men by myself. The movers were kind, professional, respectful, and were clearly seasoned at their job. I felt safe and confident that my belongings would be taken care of. I was amazed at how thoughtful they were with my furniture and the physical endurance they had to get it all done. Another thoughtful extra mile they did without prompting was to fix anything they could that was broken or about to break. For example, my bed was not put together very well by the original person and parts were broken. When they put it back together they made the bed stronger and whole. I recommend Black Tie for their experience, going above and beyond, and personable demeanor. Thank you, Black Tie!

Great Experience

I transferred to the gulf coast and needed assistance in moving. Black Tie provided me with a reasonable quote and were efficient throughout the two day service.

The men were professional, had patience, quick and provided exceptional service. I can not remember the guys name but he wore flip flops- he’s a great worker.

No Complaints

I haven't made a long distance move in many years. The Black Tie (Huntsville) crew made it practically painless. Absolutely no complaints. I would give them an extra star if I could.

The guys did a great job however there…

The guys did a great job however there were a lot of items left behind that my husband and I had to go back and get including our lawn mower; which was very difficult to load. It was two car loads full!! I didn’t think that was acceptable. Also our bed remote for our adjustable bed got lost in the move somehow and there is a gash in our new home door that wasn’t there before. I have called 3 times and sent an email to talk to a manager about all of these things and it is the 5th day since the move today and no one has called me back yet. This is why I am giving 3 stars. Mainly for the poor customer service on the back end

Our move wasn't very far but the guys…

Our move wasn't very far but the guys did a fantastic job. We have some heirloom furniture that is over 100 years old that make the move work no issues. They were also mot bothered when I asked to move some small items after they put them in the room. We would use them again but hopefully won't be moving.

Great service, start to finish.

Great service from initial call to the end of moving day. We had to change our moving day a number if times and they were flexible and accommodating. The team on moving day was efficient, careful, and easy to work with. I would highly reccomend.

My verdict is pending...

I had a good experience with the early part of the process. The communication was straightforward, scheduling was quick, the moving team was good.

However, trying to get a response on damage claims has been frustrating. There were multiple damages to the furniture, including a shuttered glass bench top that was custom made. When the move was done, I got a phone call going over the the move, including damages, and making a payment. I was told that someone would follow up with me on the damages in about 10 min. Seven days passed and I received no contact. I assumed that it was because of the Thanksgiving holiday (the move was on Nov. 25). I patiently waited till Dec. 3 before I called. This time I was told that I could only send email to their claim department and no one was going to call me and there is no phone number that I could call. I asked to talk with the operation manager and was promised that he would give me a call back. I followed up with an email sending pictures of all the damages. Almost three days has passed, no phone call, no email response.

I hope my impression (so far) that they treat you well before they get your business and your payment but then they drag on taking care of the issues with the move (although they promised to) will be proved wrong. Communication seems to be "night and day" comparing "after and before" they get your business. There were check-ins and very prompt responses before the move and then no responses afterwards. I hope I am wrong but I am still waiting to hear ANYTHING back about the damages 10 days after the move.

Move from Columbus to Cleveland

The crew from Black Tie did a great job moving me over the weekend. We went from Columbus to almost Cleveland, no hiccups what so ever. Hard working crew!

5 Star experience with Black Tie Moving

The experience with Black Tie Moving was great. Every part of the experience went well from scheduling the move to checking in a few days before to see if we were going to be ready or needed to hire extra hands for packing. The actual move day went very well. The elevator in our new building was not working right but that didn’t stop the team of three guys who began climbing 4 flights of stairs to do our move. Thankfully the elevator began working so they didn’t have to use the stairs the whole time. They did an excellent job and after a week of unboxing our belongings I’m happy to say that there was no breakage or damage to anything. Great Job Black Tie Moving!

Hiring Black Tie movers made my move back into my house a breeze.

Hiring Black Tie Movers was the best decision I could have made. We weren't moving but we had all of our possessions in pods while we renovated our house. A super professional group showed up and worked so fast - they unloaded the entire 4 pods in 2 hours so all that I had to do was unpack boxes. They kept asking if there was anything else they could do, even when they were done. None of the furniture was damaged and they were careful about not knocking walls, etc. I would 100% use them again. And one additional benefit - they were far more reasonable than most of the companies I talked to.

Movers, moved slowly to take their time, so that they could charge more per hour

Movers were moving slowly so that they could charge me more money per hour. They also didn’t put my computer desk in a right position. I will never recommend them for your move. Sales people lied to me about the price at $750 with 10% discount and ended up being $1935. Manager hanging up the phone and saying they didn’t have time to listen to my complaints. Good bless them for ripping me off.

Scheduling was great. Crew was great.

Scheduling was great seeing that I waited until the last minute. The crew was very polite and respectful. On time for pickup at old home and very fast unloading at new home. Took time to be very careful with everything. I would definitely use them again and refer them to everyone.

The guys were all hard working

The guys were all hard working, courteous, and friendly. They had a long day- 11 hours! We have a lot of stairs so that was super hard work for them!!
Could maybe have been more organized and communicated better with each other.
There were quite a few things that the team was supposed to pack and move but that didn’t happen. Overall it went well!

Do Not Use Black Tie Moving

I’m not one of leave a bad review, but my experience was extremely poor and I don’t want anyone else to go through the same thing.

I selected this company based on reviews and booked my service for 11/27. The communication leading up to the move was great and the quote I received was fair. I felt really good about selecting them.

Unfortunately, being the day before Thanksgiving, there were accidents and traffic, so the crew arrived hours late. That wasn’t a problem on my end, but I believe it contributed to the poor service once we got to the location where I was moving.

The crew did a good job getting me out of my house, but the problems began when I got to the new place.

They initially pulled up in the alley behind my house and for some reason decided to drive right through newly placed and watered sod, destroying it with ruts and tire tracks not only behind my house, but my neighbors as well. They told me I might see some tire tracks because they almost got the truck stuck. This is an alley that’s at least 1.5 cars wide and a straight line, there was no reason to have had to veer off the road like they did. Trash and utility trucks routinely move through easily.

When they got out of the van, at least one of the members strongly smelled like marijuana (after they left, I actually had to open a window in the bedroom it was so strong). They then a began to move items in so carelessly they broke furniture, dented and scraped walls and stairs, and broke items in boxes and bins.

I was moving to a 3-story townhome and the crew seemed extremely irritated by this fact and were just sliding, dropping, and casually tossing things around to get done. At one point, my friend and I stepped in to take some items to stop further damage from happening.

At the end of the job, I was told the stairs were unexpected and caused the delays in completely the job. If it was just a time issue, I would have understood, but it felt like the crew was pissed at how long they were on the job and took it out on my items and the house where I moved. Since this is a rental, I have to get the damage repaired or I will lose money from my security deposit.

When I was called to process the final payment, the first person didn’t seem to care at all and just told me file claims for any damage. I appreciate this may have been a call center operator who is not employed by them, so I texted the manager for the location to let them know about my experience and share photos of the damage. I’ve yet to receive a response at all.

Overall, this was an upsetting and awful experience. We all have bad days at work, but the level of unprofessional behavior was really beyond what I’ve ever seen or experienced.

Ambiguous

There were a "few" items broken, nothing expensive but sentimental. However one missing item, the crew members said he had it that he put it in a safe place but didn't give it to us, got side tracked. Icalled spoke to Ben who said he would have the owner give me a call about the missing item, that was a week ago, no response thus far.
