Question 1
My poster used the conventions of a real media product. This was because it was in the genre of UK Hip-Hop/Rnb and in order for it to be marketable it needed to follow the conventions of UK Hip-Hop/Rnb posters as they appeal to a large target audience both in the UK and other countries.
I used the convention of not looking directly into the camera because through research, it showed that this created a mystery about the artist which challenge and used the conventions of both Uk And American Posters
AMERICAN POSTER
Through research, it shows that UK artist normally look directly into the camera to help establish a relationship between the artist and target audience, which helps market the artist as the target audience feel that they can relate to the artist. I challenged the conventions on my poster by using an American style but with UK twist to it which was not looking directly into the camera.

My digipak used and develop the conventions of real media products as it helped me think about how to market it well as it followed conventions and didnt do some things that people were not familiar with. After analysing other digipaks this helped me come to the conclusion that I should use and develop the conventions of normal Hip-Hop/Rnb digipaks as what they done allowed them to be marketable which is a big part of promoting the artist. I used a 6 square template for my digipak which enabled me to advertise the artist more throughout the product which developed the conventions of normal HipHop/Rnb digipaks as most of them are 4 square digipaks that normally only have 2 main images of the artist on them, where as mine developed this idea and used 4 main images of the artist. Conventions Of Digipaks

My digipak used most of the conventions of a hip-hop/rnb but challenge certain aspects of the genre such as costume, to make my artist seem more normal as it was the beginning of his career. The use of 3 photos looking directly at camera creates a relationship with the audience, whilst the other 3 photos create a mystery about the artist and make him more intriguing and make audience want to understand him more.
My video challenge the concept of hip-hop/rnb videos. Most of them that I research had the artist with chains and cars and girls whereas my video was based solely on promoting the artist and not his assets. When looking at hip-hop videos such as Drake - The Motto and Tyga - Rack City and Big Sean - Dance they all had the same relationship, they all had something in common which was either wearing expensive jewellery (Gold), driving expensive cars or have some sort voyeuristic element. My video didnt have any of these and this is because Jo.EY is a new artist with no budget, which means that he isn't living the flashy lifestyle big artist are. My video was mainly about the artist so that I could create a relationship with the artist and the target audience. By him being dressed in a plain style it makes him easier to relate to which again makes him marketable.
