    Air pollution due to vehicles
     The total number of registered vehicles in India is approx. 21
    millions and around the world the count goes up to 1.2 billion.
     More than a half carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides and
    almost a quarter of hydrocarbons are emitted by vehicles .
     In urban areas , 50-90% air pollution due to automobiles.
     Adverse effects on humans as well as environment.
     Causes ozone depletion, gobal climate change , crop and forest
    damage , acid rains ,etc.
     Effects on humans include asthama, bronchitis as well as life
    threatening conditions like cancer.
    Ways of reducing air pollution due to
    vehicles
     Use of hybrid and electric vehicles
    Drawback:
     Expensive and requires development
     complete conversion from C.V to E.V will require time.
     Use of cleaner fuels
    Drawback: Higher prices, not easily available, not enough in quantity
     Improvement in vehicles exhaust system
    Will be our topic of discussion

     Exhaust manifold

     Catalytic convertor

     Resonator

     Muffler
    Catalytic convertor
     Working:
     Hot gases (CO, Oxides of nitrogen etc.)
    along with sound waves are generated
    in engine which enters the Catalytic
    converter through exhaust manifold.

     Drawbacks :
     Emission of CO2
     Carbon Dioxide being a Greenhouse
    gas contribute to greenhouse effect.

     In other to bring the level of pollutants from


    vehicles to minimum possible value

    converting it into useful grapheme.
