dry, damaged skin. It also provides dry skin relief and protects minor cuts. PETROLEUM JELLY Petroleum jelly (also called petrolatum) its a mixture of mineral oils and waxes, which form a semisolid jelly-like substance. Petroleum jelly is basically made up of a mixture of mineral oils and waxes. The primary hydrocarbon used in making the jelly, chemical formula – (C15H15N). Petroleum jelly’s benefits come from its main ingredient petroleum, which helps seal your skin with a water-protective barrier. This helps your skin heal and retain moisture. While petroleum jelly has many benefits, it should be for external use only. Do not eat or insert petroleum jelly. Avoid using petroleum jelly for masturbation or as a vaginal lubricant. According to Reuters, a study of 141 women found that 17 percent used petroleum jelly internally and 40 percent of them tested positive for bacterial vaginosis. ALTERNATIVES There are many alternative to Pertoleum Jelly, they are as follows :- 1. Lanolin : Extracted from sheep's wool. Does not block pores.
2. Cocoa butter : Extracted from the roasted seeds of The
obroma cacao, a tree native to the Americas. 3. Shea butter : Vegetable fat obtained from tree native to Africa. Contains acids such as stearic and oleic.
4. Unrefined coconut oil : Extracted from the kernels
of the seeds of the coconut palm. Provides moisture and absorbs into the skin. Also removes dead cells on the skin surface.
5. Waxelene : Hypoallergenic and USDA certified
organic multipurpose ointment that moisturizes skin. CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS THE ENVIRONMENT 1. We can recycle used Vaseline petroleum jelly tubes and containers into useful items such as in storing some small material in it, or use it in art and craft or we can use it in making something waste out off best. 2. We can give those Vaseline tubes or containers to an recycle agency, who can recycle this containers properly. 3. We can switch up to some alternative which is natural like Coconut oil, Cocoa Butter, etc.
