Silica
Coco-caprylate/caprate is used as an emollient in cosmetics which softens the skin and leaves it
dry. It acts as a lightweight emollient. It has excellent spreadability and is a substitute for silicone
oil.
Skin care: It is highly biocompatible with the skin. Thus it penetrates deep into the skin and
helps it repair itself. It has a low greasiness. It is used in foundation, sunscreens, facial
moisturizers, serums, etc.
Hair care: It provides excellent moisturization and shine to hair and provides a soft and silky
after feel. It is used in hair colors, bleaches, detanglers, etc.
Origin
It is obtained by mixing the esters from coconut-derived fatty alcohols with caprylic and capric
acids, also derived from coconut.
POLYGLYCERYL-4 CAPRATE-
olyglyceryl-4 Caprate benefits the skin and hair immensely. It is also an emulsifying agent that
prevents the oil based and water-based ingredients from separating in a formulation. This
enables a better texture of the cosmetic products and promotes even spreadability. It can be
found in a variety of products like lotions, toners, shampoos and BB creams.
Skin care: In skin care products, Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate acts like a conditioning and hydrating
agent. It locks moisture on the skin and prevents it from drying or cracking. Further, it helps the
other ingredients to penetrate deeper into the skin and work their magic from within.
Hair care: Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate is added to hair care products because it is great at controlling
frizz and treating dull and damaged hair. This ingredient makes the hair extremely soft and is
specifically good for curly shafts.
HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE,-
Hydroxyethyl cellulose is a gelling and thickening agent derived from cellulose. It is widely used
in cosmetics, cleaning solutions, and other household products.
CAPRYLYL GLYCOL-
Caprylyl glycol is a liquid additive that is often used in cosmetics, personal care products, and
some pharmaceuticals. It is a type of alcohol that is derived from caprylic acid, a fatty acid found
in coconut oil, palm oil, and some animal fats.
In addition to its preservative and emollient properties, caprylyl glycol also has antimicrobial
properties that can help to prevent the growth of bacteria, yeast, and fungi in cosmetic and
personal care products. As a result, it is often used as an alternative to other antimicrobial agents,
such as parabens, which have been associated with potential health concerns.
Caprylyl glycol is generally considered safe for use in cosmetics and personal care products when
used as directed. It has been assessed by regulatory bodies such as the US Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) and the European Union (EU) and is approved for use in these regions.
