    Amines are organic compounds derived from ammonia where one or more hydrogen atoms are replaced by alkyl or aryl groups. They are classified as primary, secondary, or tertiary depending on how many hydrogen atoms are replaced. Primary amines have one alkyl/aryl group, secondary have two, and tertiary have three. Amines can also be aliphatic, aromatic, or heterocyclic depending on whether the nitrogen is bonded to alkyl groups, part of a benzene ring, or a heterocyclic ring respectively. They are named systematically by replacing the -ane ending of the parent alkane with -amine or commonly as one-word alkylamines in alphabetical order.

    Amines are organic derivatives of ammnonia
    (NH3).

    It is composed of one or more alkyl or aryl


    groups which replaced the hydrogen atoms in
    WHAT ARE ammonia (NH3) molecule.

    (2) and tertiary (3). Depending on the number
    of hydrogen atoms of ammonia that are

    AMINES AND Like aliphatic amines, aromatic amines are also classified into three
    classes i.e. Primary amines (ArNH2), Secondary amines (ArNHR),
    ALIPHATIC and Tertiary amines (ArNR2)

    An amine in which the nitrogen atom is part of a
    ring is classified as a heterocyclic amine. When
    the nitrogen is part of an aromatic ring (Section
    9.2), the amine is classified as a heterocyclic
    aromatic amine.
