ABSTRACT
• This is the project to analyze and design of equipment
supporting structures and piperack as a steel structure. It
is used in oil and gas industries, chemical industries and
powerplant and etc. This equipment supporting structures
which supports equipments like boilers, pumps,
containers and etc. piperacks which supports cables,
pipes, trays and etc. In this structures it supports boilers,
pumps and pipes. This project is design as per Indian and
American provisions, we prefer American provisions to
other codal provisions because all over the world about
70% of structures designed as per American provisions.
INTRODUCTION
• A pipe rack is the main artery of a process unit.
It connects all equipment with lines that cannot
run through adjacent areas.
• Pipe racks carry process, utility piping and also
include instrument and electrical cable trays as
well as equipment mounted over all of these.
• Structural steel pipe racks typically supports
pipes, power cables and instrument cable trays in
petrochemical, chemical and power plants.
• Pipe racks consists of a series of transverse
bents that run along the length of pipe system,
spaced at uniform intervals typical around 20
ft. To allow the maintenance access under the
pipe rack, the transverse bents are typically
moment frames.
• These transverse bents are connected with
longitudinal struts.
OBJECTIVE
• This steel structures Analyze and designing
using STAAD Pro.
• To gain us real-time experience and familier
with American and Indian codal provisions.
LITERATURE REVIEW
• J.G TENG,etal [2012]“STRENTHENING OF STEEL STRUCTURES”
Over the part two decades Fibre Reinforced Polymer(FRP) composites have
gradually gained wide acceptance in civil engineering applications due to their
advantages including their high strength-to-weight ratio and excellent corrosion
resistance. In particular many possibilities of using FRP in strengthening and
construction of concrete structures have been explored more recently use of
FRP to strengthen existing structures has received much attention.
• P.POHJANNE,etal “A METHOD TO PREDICT PITTING CORROSION
OF STAINLESS STEELS IN EVAPORATE” Stainless steel are used in
architecture and building because of their good corrosion resistance and visual
appearance. Despite all precautions localized corrosion has caused unexpected
material failures in environments which should be harmless. These failures are
associated to surface contamination with corrosive salt solutions that are formed
when splash water concentrates due to evaporation. This paper reports on
studies carried out to investigate the localized corrosion risk of stainless steel in
concentrated salt solutions.
• E.S.HWANG, etal “INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF STEEL
STRUCTURES” The International Journal of steel structures provides
an international forum for a board classification of technical papers in
steel structural research and its application the journal aims to reach
not only researchers , but also for practicing beginers. Coverage
encompasses such topics as stability, fatique, non linear behavior,
dynamic and more
• GRAHAN GUDGE, “STRUCTURAL USES OF STAINLESS
STEEL BUILDINGS AND CIVIL ENGINEERING” Stainless steel
have not traditionally been widely used as structural metal in building
and civil engineering where the steels have been used for this purpose
there has been some other imperative driving the design, usually
corrosion resistance for architectural Requirements rather than the
inherent structural properties of steel. The primary reason for this low
use in structural application is usually the precevied.
SUMMARY OF LITERATURE
