• The Tourism Industry is a composite of


industries and entities both public and
private involve on the planning,
development, marketing, sales operation
and evaluation of destinations
Philippine Tourism Industry

• The Tourism also caters to the needs of both


foreign and domestic travelers.
• The term “Tourist” is however too limiting and
denotes primarily leisure. The tourism
industry caters the need of the travelers i.e.
pilgrims, delegates, businessmen and women.

●The government sector of the tourism
industry is responsible for the formulation of
tour policies, plans and programs. It provides
guidelines for the selection and
development of destinations, promotes
travel and investment in the Philippines.

Organizational Set-up: DOT – Tourism Development
The Philippine Tourism Promotion Board
▪ Presidential Decree No. 867, promulgated in 1976,
created the Philippine Convention Bureau (PCB), a
government agency. This virtue was transformed into a
non-profit corporation of Presidential Decree No. 1448
in June 1978.
▪ Due to the order of the Department of Tourism
in 1987, the PCB was renamed as the Philippine
Convention and visitors Corporation.
The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone
Authority
The Philippine Tourism (PTA) created on May
11, 1973 pursuant to Presidential Decree No.
189 as amended by Presidential Decree No.
564 is reorganized as the TIEZA attached to
the Department for purposed of policy and
program coordination by virtue of the
Implementing Rules and Regulations of R.A
9593.
Tourism Enterprise Zone

term dwelling. People who travel and stay away
