The First Council of Nicaea, held in Nicaea in Bithynia (in

 THE FOUR CUPS OF
PASSOVER
Spiritually, the four cups of Passover teach us
about our personal salvation in Messiah. The
four cups represent the following:

• The cup of sanctification

•

• The cup of afflication and deliverance

•

• The cup of redemption

•

• The cup of His coming kingdom

 THE CUP OF
ELIJAH
The cup of Elijah is not drunk but it is poured out.
The cup of Elijah reminds us that before Messiah
will return that Elijah will precede His coming.
Step #14: Hallel and the 4th Cup
During Hallel, a cup is poured for Elijah.
Traditionally, the children go to the
door to look for the coming of Elijah.
Psalm 115-118 are recited. Then, the
great Hallel (Psalm 136) is recited.
Next, we drink the fourth cup. The fourth
cup is known as the ‘cup of His coming
or the cup of the kingdom’.
Finally, a song is sung known as ‘Ha
Gadya”.

Allowing for the laws of separation (Leviticus 15:19,

24-25) after going back to the house (Luke 1:23)
then going forward 9 months (Sivan [10th week] + 2
weeks + 9 months) puts the birth of Yochanan the
Immerser around Passover (Aviv 14).
