Parashah 31 Emor
Parashah 31 Emor
Parashah 31 Emor
This weeks Torah Portion is a flow on and continues of what we as the Bride
will do in the House of YHVH. We have covered the Marriage and the Threshold
Covenant that allows Her to come into the House. Last week we looked at
Holiness, what She needs to do inside the House and this week we look at the
transformation of the Bride into the Priesthood, where She will be equipped to
serve people outside of the House, leading them in.
The name of this Torah Portion is Emor that means to speak. Emor rma is
spelled aleph-mem-resh where Aleph = Strength, Mem = Water and Resh =
Head. This gives the meaning of strong-water-head. Any strong river will start
with strong-head-waters that cause it to flow form a high place down into the
ocean. This is the picture of what Faith is according to Psalm 1.
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the Torah of YHVH, And in His Torah, he meditates
day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not
wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
1
Standards for the High Priest
This Torah Portion starts off with YHVH telling Moses to speak (emor) to the
Priests, giving them the Standards for the Priests and then he gave the
Standards for a High Priest. To speak, as we have seen, has to do with YHVHs
water flowing like water and causing them to bear fruit and shine light amongst
YHVHs people, laying the foundation of Faith (amunah). The Standards for the
Cohan Gadol or High Priest is higher than that of a Priest and are the following:
He is not to defile himself with a dead person, could only mourn the
death of a loved one.
Not get in contact with a dead corpse.
He is not allowed to go out of the Sanctuary while in service or profane
the Sanctuary.
He is not to marry a non-virgin or divorced woman.
He could not have any blemish.
Q Why does the High Priest have to comply with these five things?
Prophetic Application: These five things relates to Yshua being our High
Priest and the world to come.
There will be no mourning, and there will be
no death in the world to come.
No one will be contaminated with dead
bodies and sickness; everybody will have
newly renewed bodies and not be subject to
the fallen leprous state man was used to be
born into.
Sanctuary comes from the word to
sanctify, and YHVH will sanctify His
Creation, restoring it back to the initial
sinless state. In the world to come, no one will leave the Sanctuary or
restored the world. Everything will be perfect, just like it was in the
Garden of Eden and we will dwell with YHVH.
Yshua will only marry a virgin, the Bride, who sanctified Herself with the
water of the Word and who kept Herself set apart and Holy unto Him.
In the world to come, everybody will be made new and not have any spot
or blemish, with a restored new nature without any craving to sin.
All of the standards for a High Priest is what He will create for us as His Bride in
the world to come and gives us a picture of what the new heaven and new earth
will be like.
2
Last week we looked at what is to happen
inside the House; where the Bride is set apart
and prepared for the second part of the
Marriage Covenant that will take place at
Yshuas Second Coming. All of this is depicted
in the symbolism of the Festivals. This
Preparation Process is called Holiness, where
YHVH made us set-apart from His point of
view. This Holy State allows us to be included
in His Restoration Plan under the leadership of
our High Priest (Yshua). On the other side of Holiness, from our point of view,
we as the Bride need to stay set apart and Holy to be used by Him as His
Priesthood. That is why YHVH gave the Standards for the Priesthood so that
they will protect and guard our Holiness and keep us from being defiled and
become useless. This transforms the Bride into the Priesthood where She will
work with Yshua to bring new Believers into Covenant with Him, helping them
to enter into a Marriage Covenant into the House of the Father.
The function of the Priesthood is to serve the people and to facilitate YHVHs
Temple service as well as to teach new people the Ways of YHVH. There were
many Priests, and not all served in the Temple all the time. They were on a roster
and might have served only two weeks in a year.
Q What did they do for the rest of the year?
We find the responsibilities for the Priesthood in the Book of Malakai where
YHVH reprimanded His Priesthood and reminded them of their duties:
Mal 2:1, 6-7 And now, O Priests, this Commandment is for you. 6 The
Torah of Truth was in his mouth, And injustice was not found on his lips.
He walked with Me in peace and equity and turned many away from
iniquity. 7 For the lips of a priest should keep knowledge,
and people should seek the Torah from his mouth; For he is the
messenger of YHVH of hosts.
These are the duties of the Priesthood as Commanded by YHVH:
o Torah of truth in our mouths Know the Torah and align your words
with the Truths found in the wisdom of the Torah so that injustice would
not be found on your lips. The Priests had no land of their own and lived
among the people. They had the duty of governing the people and
make sure justice is found within any situation or dispute that occurred
amongst the people. They had the duty of judging a situation and speak
a judgement over the guilty party according to the guidelines and wisdom
within in the Torah.
o Walked in peace and equality, turning people away from iniquity
The Priests represented YHVH to the people, having the authority of
YHVH where they had to keep people from living in iniquity. They had the
authority and responsibility to lead the people, representing YHVH
through their own conduct, leading by example, so that the people will
follow and not cause themselves to perform acts of iniquity.
o His Lips to keep knowledge The Priests had the responsibility to
teach the people the knowledge of the Torah. They were all teachers
and had to know the Torah to teach it to others.

The Kingdom, the House & the Priesthood
We are now going to look at things regarding the
Priesthood and how we can apply these spiritual
principles in our lives so that we can guard and
protect our Holiness so that we can be effective and
be used by YHVH for the benefit of His Kingdom.
Rev 1:6 and has made us kings (a Kingdom),
Priests unto His God and Father, to Him be glory
and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
This verse is normally translated as kings and
priests, but the Greek word basileus means leader within the context of a
kingdom gives is the more accurate translation of Kingdom of Priests or
Priests within the Kingdom of YHVH. Yshua is the King of His Kingdom, and we
are the leaders (Priests) that rule with Him, under His authority as High Priest.
This verse is sometimes used out of context as part of the Prosperity
teaching where the people of God consists of two groups; on the one side
are the majority of the people who are kings, making money in the world.
They bring the money to the Priests, the other part of the group. They are
the Pasters who are running their Ministries expanding their kingdoms (or
Kingdom of God depending on the motive). This message has nothing to
do with the Passover Lamb Who redeemed His people and is a false
doctrine that uses the Word out of context to fit a false prosperity doctrine.
Rev 6:1 is in the context of us being washed and redeemed by the Blood of
Messiah that made us a Kingdom of Priests. The same concept is found in Rev
5:10 where the Lamb took the Scroll, the Lamb Who is worthy of opening it
because He redeemed mankind and made them a Kingdom of Priests.
Both these passages are in the context of Yshua being the Passover Lamb, the
Marriage or Threshold Covenant that redeemed and allow us to become His
Priesthood. We also find this terminology in Rev 20:6 where it talks about the
Priesthood of Yshua that will reign with Him for 1000 years before the
establishment of the New Jerusalem.
All three these passages in Revelation reveals us as leaders in YHVHs
Kingdom in the form of Priests serving under the High Priest. We find another
passage in the Apostolic Writings (NT) that reveal us as His Priesthood.
1 Pet 2:4-9 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men,
but chosen by YHVH and precious, 5 you also, as living stones, are being
built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual
sacrifices acceptable to YHVH through Yshua the Messiah. 6 Therefore it
is also contained in the Scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion A chief
cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him will by no
means be put to shame. 7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious;
but to those who are disobedient, The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone, 8 and A stone of stumbling
And a rock of offence. They stumble, being disobedient to the Word, to
which they also were appointed. 9 But you are a chosen Generation, a
Royal Priesthood, a Holy nation, His own special people, that you may
proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His
4
marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of
YHVH, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
Here we are referred to as Living Stones that make up
the House of YHVH. The House of YHVH is not a
Building but rather a functional Priesthood that serves
the purpose of leading people into the Kingdom of
YHVH. They perform spiritual sacrifices, and we had
looked at some of these when we looked at the duties
of the Priesthood in the Book of Malachi. This spiritual
sacrifice is where you become the Sacrifice, just like
Yshua did, offering your life in service of YHVH.
We had looked at the stones of the House when we studied Leprosy in the
House where there are blessings hidden behind every leprous stone if the
leprosy is dealt with. When you make yourself available to YHVH and allow
yourself to be Holy and useful, you become a blessing to the House of which
you are a building block or stone. This means that you can be a useful part of
His House, becoming His Bride, becoming set-apart and preserving your
Holiness so that you can become part of His Priesthood, a living sacrifice in
service of your High Priest for the benefit of His Kingdom (not yours).
5
Lame is the word picceach and is found in
Scripture in 2 Sam 5:6-8 where David slew all the
Jebusites, the blind and the lame within Jerusalem.
Then used again in 2 Sam 9:13 where King David
showed kindness to Jonathans son Mephibosheth,
who was lame. Because of the covenant between
David and Jonathan, Mephibosheth was treated as
a son and allowed to eat at the table of King David.
The word lame comes from the root word
pasach that means pass over, to limp, to skip
over. It is first used in Exo 12:13 in the Exodus
where YHVH passed over because of the blood Covenant.
Spiritual Application: Connecting these thoughts gives us insight that
the blind lame deserved to die, but Jonathans lame son was spared
because of the Blood Covenant. Those who are in Covenant with YHVH
can sit at His Table but are not allowed to serve as one of His Priests in
the House. To be lame means not to be able to walk and like we saw last
week, to walk means your halacha that needs to change to become
Holy unto YHVH as part of His Bride or Priesthood. This means that
there are people in the Assembly that are not set-apart, but are saved
because of the Blood Covenant and their faith in Messiah. They will be
Guests at the final Marriage Feast but not be part of the Bride of the
Priesthood because of their lack of holiness or lack of preparation as
the Bride of Messiah.
Marred face or flat nose This is the word charam that means to
ban, devote, destroy utterly, dedicate for destruction and exterminate. It
is first used in Scripture in Exo 22:20 where YHVH Commanded not to
sacrifice to any other god and those who does, will be destroyed.
Spiritual Application: Face in Hebrew means the
presence of YHVH and nose means anger. If you
say, you serve YHVH but come in the presence or
face of another god or idol you provoke YHVH to
anger. It is as if you come before YHVH with a
perverted face or mocking face as children do to
provoke each other. This is related to things we as
Believers do, mixing our traditions and culture in with
worshipping YHVH. Examples of this are Christmas
father and Easter bunnies and eggs, misrepresenting what the Word says.
If you do this, it is as if you come into His presence with a twisted face,
mocking Him and provoking Him to anger. You cannot serve as a Priest in
the Kingdom is you have not ridden yourself from previous traditions that
are contrary to YHVHs Word.
6
Limb too long This is the word sara that means to extend out, stretch
out or be deformed by an excess of members This word
is found in Isa 28:20 where YHVH spoke judgement over
Ephraim who engaged in drunkenness and spoke lies
(Read whole chapters context).
Spiritual Application: In relation with serving as Priests
in the House of YHVH, being drunk and spreading lies or
false teachings, shows us something that is happening in
the Body of Messiah today that is not permitted. This is
where Ephraim (Christianity), being Leaders (Priesthood)
in the House, allows and engage in drunkenness or
being drunk in the Spirit within the Body of Messiah. They teach that
YHVHs Spirit is the bartender and bring in the ways of the world
(drunkenness) into YHVHs House, making it profane. This is a false
teaching and is like someone with a long limb whos walk is crooked,
stumbling from side to side like a drunk. YHVH said He would sweep away
these lies with hail and water. Water is the Word of Truth and hail
represents the opposite of peace, allowing confusion. This means that
YHVH will destroy these false teachings with confusion so that He can
establish His Truth.
Broken foot or hand Broken comes from the
root word sheber that means breaking,
fracture, crushing, breach, crash, ruin,
shattering. It is first found in Scripture in Gen
19:9 where the Messengers went to Lots house
before the destruction and crashing of Sodom
and Gomorrah, making them into ruins. These
people lived immoral lives and wanted to have
relations with the two men Lot lodged and
protected.
Spiritual Application: The broken foot and
broken hand shows us that there is an issue with the way they walk, their
halacha and with their deeds (hands) that are perverse and immoral.
Believers who engage in these immoral deeds or relationships are not
allowed to serve as Priests in YHVHs House.
Another form of this is when your walk can be right but your hand broken.
You can live a righteous life but never accomplish anything for YHVH, or
your hand can be good but your foot was broken. You can accomplish
many good things, but you cause issues along the way as you do them,
walking unrighteous, destroying YHVHs people as you go. These two are
examples of people in the Kingdom who are not to be part of YHVHs
Priesthood.
7
Hunchback This is the word ]bg gibben that means arched or
contracted. This word is made up of two parts; the last two letters
bet-nun ]b that is ben that means son and the first two letters
8
The passage in Matt 7:15 describes these false teachings that are taught
by false prophets who are wolves in sheeps clothing, devouring the flock
with their teachings. This warning goes back to the time of Ezekiel.
Eze 22:25-29 The conspiracy of
her prophets[b] in her midst is like
a roaring lion tearing the prey;
they have devoured people; they
have taken treasure and precious
things; they have made many
widows in her midst. 26 Her
priests have violated My Torah
and profaned My holy things; they
have not distinguished between
the holy and unholy, nor have they
made known the difference between the unclean and the clean;
and they have hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, so that I am
profaned among them. 27 Her princes in her midst are like wolves
tearing the prey, to shed blood, to destroy people, and to get
dishonest gain. 28 Her prophets plastered them with
untempered mortar, seeing false visions, and divining lies for
them, saying, Thus says the Lord God, when YHVH had not
spoken.
These doctrines and teachings are far removed from YHVHs Torah and
are messages that destroy the people and allow them to receive
dishonest gain. The skinny ones or least in the Kingdom are
devouring the prosperous ones, the People of YHVH through false
teachings. They feed on the flocks but do not teach YHVHs Word, His
Holy things and Feasts, regarding clean and unclean, and they disregard
YHVHs Sabbath. Pastors who teach these things are false Prophets who
are ravening wolves and not part of YHVHs Priesthood or
Bride. They are the least in the Kingdom and will not rule with
Messiah.
Eye defect or blemish in the eye This is the word tevalul
that comes from the root word balal that means to mix,
mingle and confuse. This word is first found in Scripture in Gen
11:7 where YHVH confused the languages when man constructed
the Tower of Babel, trying to become like YHVH. Tower
is the word migdal and means elevated and is a
symbol of pride. This was the sin that causes Lucifer to
fall when he said he said in Isa 14:14 I will be like
the Most High; I will ascend above the clouds and
raising my throne above the stars of YHVH.
Spiritual Application: If there is something wrong with your eye it
means that there is something wrong with the way you see things.
From these examples in Scripture we find that this problem is rooted in
pride where people see themselves elevated above other people and
fell into the same trap Lucifer fell, building the Tower of Babel. Pride will
distort your vision, and you will step on others to elevate yourself.
Prides motive is not to serve YHVH but is a form of self-worship.
9
Believers in Messiah with pride in their lives will not be part of the Bride
or YHVHs Priesthood.
Skin problem like eczema or scab This is the word garav that
means scab, itch and to scratch and is found in Scripture in Deut 28
where YHVH spoke blessings and curses over His people as a result of
their obedience or rebellion against His Commandments.
Deut 28:15,27 But it shall come to pass, if thou
will not listen to the voice of YHVH your Elohim,
to observe to do all his Commandments and his
Statutes which I command you this day; that all
these curses shall come upon you, and overtake
you: 27 YHVH will smite you with the boil of
Egypt, and with the tumour, and with the scab,
and with the itch, whereof you cannot be healed.
Spiritual Application: This condition is linked to not doing YHVHs
Commandments and thus allowing this curse to come upon those who
rebel against YHVH. This condition manifests on the skin just like
Leprosy and shares the same roots namely sin and rebellion. People
who refuse to listen to YHVHs Word and conform to His Ways are like
people with an itch, always scratching the same issue and not moving
on, embracing YHVHs whole Truth. Is your flesh disqualifying you to
achieve anything for YHVH? Rebellious and stubborn Believers like this
cannot be used by YHVH and will not be part of His Priesthood.
A Eunuch This is someone who have his stones broken or his
testicles damaged.
Spiritual Application: Testicles has to do with fruitfulness
and having an offspring, in other words, bear fruit. Yshua
said in Matt 7:20 that you will know a tree by its fruit and in
Matt 21:18-22 He cursed the Fig Tree for not having any
fruit. This is an example of believers not carrying the Fruit
of YHVHs Sprit:
o Love This is the Heading for the Commandments of YHVH; Love
YHVH with all your heart soul and strength and your neighbour as
yourself. Love should always be present in whatever you do and the
motive by which you do all the other Commandments that is a proof
of loving YHVH. Yshua said in John 14:15 if you love Me you will
do My Commandments.
o Joy - Joy in the Hope that we have in Him will carry you through any
situation. Joy in your life is the sign that you have faith and hope.
James said that you have to count it all joy when you go through trials
and tribulations. This joy is a proof of your faith in YHVHs outcome.
10
o Peace - YHVH made peace with man through the Blood of
Messiah, and we can have His peace within us, with the help of
His Spirit.
o Longsuffering - Patience is linked to Faith and is
the process required so that faith can manifest the
outcome YHVH has provided. Patience is needed so that
a work that can be done within you, while you wait.
James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when you
fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your
faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect
work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking
nothing.
o Gentleness or Kindness This concept of kindness is
found in Gen 19:19 where Lot showed kindness to the Messengers
and YHVH showed kindness towards Lot before destroying Sodom
and Gomorrah. Kindness is the key to unlocking YHVHs mercy upon
your life.
Gen 19:19 Indeed now, your servant has found favour in your
sight, and you have increased your kindness (chesed) which you
have shown me by saving my life.
Goodness Goodness is based on doing good to others, and this is
the Hebrew word mitzvot or good works. These good works were
created beforehand (Commandments) so that you can walk in them.
These good works refer to all the positive Commandments that
relates to your relationship with your neighbours and how you show
that you love them.
Eph 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Messiah
Yshua for good works, which YHVH prepared beforehand that
we should walk in them.
Faith (faithfulness) Faith is the word amunah that comes from the
word aman that means truth. True faith can only be based upon the
truth. Faith is not passive and something you believe to be true. Faith
or amunah actually means faithfulness, and that means to act on
the truth you have received. We should have faith like our faithful
father Abraham who was a servant of YHVH whom YHVH made ruler
of over many things because he was faithful in one thing YHVH asked
of him, sacrificing His only beloved son.
Matt 25:21 His Master said to him, Well done, good
and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will
make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your
Master.
Meekness Humility is one of the gifts that will help you to reach
people from a servant's heart, with a motive of helping others and not
to benefit yourself.
Eph 4:2 with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering,
forbearing one another in love.
11
Temperance Self Control is key in managing your flesh and not let it
overpower your spirit-man. Without self-control you will be fleshly and
not able to live a life that reflects the character of the one you
represent.
2 Pet 1:5-7 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence,
add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-
control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,
to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
As you can see, all the Fruit of the Spirit are tools through which you can
reach people for the Kingdom as His Priests. They are the means to drawing
people into the light and help you to become like Yshua, your High Priest, the
One you represent here on earth. Remember we are His hands and feet, we
need to walk as He walked and did the things He did to fulfil His Restoration
Plan through His Priesthood here on earth.
When Yshua walked the earth, He did a lot of miracles and healings. Have you
ever connected these healings to the requirements for His Priesthood? Most of
the healings He did was related to the Standards of the Priesthood and how He
prophetically started the process of transforming His Bride into His Priesthood
that will become His hands and feet after He ascended to His Father. We need
His Word and His Spirit to be transformed so that we can become part of His
work here on earth until He returns one day.
