A. Purpose To define the specifications for the Quality of monolithic tempered glass. B. Scope These specifications apply to tempered glass manufactured by Alside, Inc. C. Responsibility It is the responsibility of the Quality Manager to maintain these specifications and update as necessary. It is the responsibility of the Sales Manager to assure that Alsides customers review these specifications when developing new sales contracts. D. Specifications 1. 3. Bow Inspection - Vertical Method a.Equipment A true straight edge or string long enough to span any edge being checked; ruler with mm increments. b. Instruction The glass is to be placed on two or more blocks located at the quarter points of the longest edge of the glass and supported in a free standing position. Each edge is checked for overall bow by positioning the straight edge device against the concave portion of the glass within 0.5 inches of the edge and parallel to the glass edge. The span length is determined by measuring the distance between the two adjacent points of contact of the straight edge device and the glass surface.
4. Visual Quality of Clear and Coated Tempered Glass All glass has discontinuities in both annealed and tempered states. Tempered glass has more discontinuities than annealed by virtue of the tempering process itself. For evalutation of acceptability see Quality Specification 23.100.
