Technology Objective: Students Will Be Able To . . . interact and engage in the material presented in a virtual environment. A. This lesson will be given near the end of a unit where students will have read Arthur Millers The Crucible. B. To help encourage student engagement and ability to understand the point-of-view of a Salem citizen, all students will participate individually on the provided website that will take them through the drama of the witch trials.

C. After the website activity is finished, the students will be asked to share their results through a show of hands: they will have either survived, or perished. D. The students will then be directed to the second website, where they will pursue further options, and the consequences of the different actions that they could have taken as a Salem citizen. Practice A. Bell RingerThe students will be asked to respond to the question: Have you ever been accused of something that you didnt do? How did you react? How did it make you feel? Why would someone wrongly accuse someone else? B. Teacher InputThe teacher will provide that days agenda, directing the students to the teachers website and where to find that days interactive websites. It should only take a few minutes for the students to locate and load the websites. C. Independent PracticeThe students will work independently on the interactive websites. All students should have their own computer available with internet access. The first website should take about 15 minutes. Student Results: A. Student answers to the bell ringer B. Teacher will facilitate student progress as they work on the website C. Students will share their results of the website Review the activity: The teacher will revisit the objective, and then ask the students to explain the reasoning behind the Salem Witch Trials Methods of Assessment: For homework, the students will write a brief essay explaining the cause and effect of the mass hysteria in historical Salem. Using the second website, they will use what information they have to explain which outcome they believed to be the most reasonable and why, including the results that they got from national Geographics interactive website.
