D. Discussion
“As you can see, our topic for today is all
about passive and active voice, but before
we proceed to our topic. Let’s define what
is voice.” The students are listening.

Voice
The term ‘voice’ is a term that is used to
denote the form of the verb which shows if
the subject in a given sentence is the doer or The students are taking down
receiver of the action. notes.

“There are two voices in the English

language and here they are as follows:”

1. Active Voice
The active voice, in a sentence, denotes that
the noun or pronoun that acts as the subject
in the sentence is the doer of the action. In
other words, the subject performs the action
or acts upon the verb.

“Again, what is active voice?” “It is where the subject

performs the action, Ma’am.”

Examples:
I am cooking a meal.
They wore a sweater.
John flew the kite.

of voice.” “Yes, Ma’am.”

2. Passive Voice - The passive voice, on the

other hand, represents that the subject is one
acted upon by the action or verb in the
sentence. It can also be said that the passive
voice indicates that the subject in the
sentence is no longer active but passive.

Examples:
A meal is being cooked by me.
The sweater is worn by them.
The kite was flown by John.
