D. Lesson Proper

ACTIVITY
MOTIVATION

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

“Okay, class, before we proceed to our (Students volunteered to read)
discussion, can I have some volunteers
to read some words for me?”
“Now class, I have a question, as the (Some students say “first” some say
volunteers read the word, which is the “second”)
loudest syllables there?”
“Okay, another question. Do believe that “Yes, ma’am”
each word here can create not just one
meaning but can create different
meanings?
“Why do you say so?” “Because it depends on how you
pronounce it.”
“That’s right!”
“Another question, when you feel so “I will shout, ma’am.”
stress, what do you usually do? I mean
how do you react when you are
stressed?”
“Oh, I see. Thank you for sharing.”

ANALYSIS

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

“Now class, based on this activity and “I think our topic is all about stress,
my questions to you, what do you think ma’am”
is our topic for today?”
“Excellent guess! Our topic for today is
all about stress.”

ABSTRACTION (DISCUSSION)

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

“Today, class, what we will be doing is just “Stress is the emphasis placed
somehow the same as what we did yesterday. on a sound, syllable or word by
You are going to enhance your vocabulary skills saying it relatively more loudly
and at the same time, enhancing your reading and
skills. Let us first define what is stress, may I forcefully.”
ask someone to please read.
“Thank you. Now class, Think about the word “Yes, ma’am”
banana. Do you pronounce all the syllables the
same? Do you say BA-NA-NA? Definitely NOT!
We can hear that one syllable is stronger and
more emphasized, right? ba-NA-na. That’s what
we call WORD STRESS in English!

It also says here that A stressed syllable has a

longer, louder, and higher sound than the other
syllables in the word.

Now, class, remember that pronouncing words

with the correct stress can make a big
difference to your English. Your English will
immediately sound clearer and more natural.
And the great news is that there are simple
rules that will help you pronounce these words
correctly when you use them in spoken English.
Is it clear, class?
“Alright, let’s go to rule no. 1, can someone read (A student volunteered to read)
these please?”
“Thank you. That is rule number 1 class (Student volunteered to read)
*teacher explains further* How about for rule
#2? Can someone read?”
“Thank you. That is rule number 2 class (Student volunteered to read)
*teacher explains further* How about for rule
#3? Can someone read?”
“Thank you. That is rule number 3 class (Student volunteered to read)
*teacher explains further* And lastly, for rule
#3? Can someone read?”
“Alright! Thank you! Now class, are these clear “None, so far, ma’am”
to you? Do you have any questions? Please
don’t hesitate to ask questions.”

APPLICATION

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

give white board with marker for each

given word. Copy the word first then just
put underline to what syllable are you
going to put a stress. Are you ready?”
