The invention of telescope is where all things began about Astronomy, it is

the root of all discoveries in earlier century in the Solar system. The likes of
Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, Johannes Kepler, etc. has contributed on
improving the telescope back in the 17th century. Our telescope wouldn’t be
this advanced without their contributions not only in the enhancement of
telescope but also their remarkable discoveries that put a lot of questions in
our heads that even scientists are curious and that curiosity has led into the
advancement of our technology for a much higher possibilities to discover
something in the heavenly body. No instrument has so wonderfully forwarded
our knowledge of the secrets of nature as the telescope. Its invention
changed the whole science, and problems were solved which no one had
ever thought of. By its aid we have discovered the nature of heavenly bodies,
have been able to understand their movements, and on it is founded our
insight into the law that governs the universe. (Doberck, 1873). Telescopes
might be amusing but as always, a pros and cons are present. There are 3
types of telescopes that are being used by people. The refractor which is a
telescope that uses lenses, a Reflector telescope that uses mirrors, then a
Compound telescope which uses both lens and mirror. The Pros and Cons of
a Refractor Telescope is that it can be used on certain times of observation
like Planetary, Solar and Lunar. It is travel friendly because it can be
assembled and disassemble unlike the two but it is prone to chromatic
aberration and is complex, when we say complex, it typically refers to
telescope whom has advance features, that’s why it’s not a beginner
friendly type telescope. The next one is the Reflector telescope, It is simple
but is prone to spherical aberrations. It is easy to align unlike the Refractor
because it has a much simpler features that can be used even by beginners.
The compound or Catadioptric Telescope is so expensive, it is not advisable if
you’re looking for a budget friendly telescopes. Refractor is a much cheaper
than the other twos. Telescope mounts are required if the telescope is to
track the apparent movement of the heavens. (Jane Clark, 2015). Mounts are
the body of the telescope, it is the one who’s holding the telescope and
maintaining its balance. It is needed to be adjust based on your location. The
main point of the Mounts is to be the guide of the telescope. There are also
types Telescope mounts, the Altitude-Azimuth Mount (Alt-Az) and the
Equatorial Mount. Altitude – Azimuth Mount are usually used by larger
telescopes because compared to Equatorial mount, it is much easier and
cheaper to build around a massive telescope. The Equatorial Mount are
typically for smaller telescope because it has a axis aligned to the Earth’s
celestial pole which is parallel to the earth’s rotation. Eyepieces are applied
for visual use such as in telescopes or microscopes. The eyepiece must be
designed so that the pupil of the objective (to be precise, the objective’s exit
pupil) is re-imaged onto the iris of the human eye. Gross et al. (2008).
Eyepiece is where we can see the gathered light by the Telescope, it is where
the image is visible. It’s signifance are very highly recognized because of its
many bright stars that can be seen by our naked eye.

What I have learned about this topic is that every parts of a telescope has its
own function, has its own contribution. The great way to explain my
understanding is by comparing a telescope to myself. Just like I said, all of its
part has its own function just like a people, Eyepiece is where we can see the
beauty of stars and planets and our eyes is where we can see people’s smile,
brighter than any other stars. A mounting plate, the center of the telescope,
it’s the guide of the telescope. Our body is the mounting plate because it’s
where all the movement came from. The importance of telescope might not
be amusing to others, but it’s a key thing for a new generation succession.
Others might not appreciate its significance, it’s much appealing view
through the Eyepiece is a joy that makes others happy and in the end of the
day, it is the most important invention in the world. Many discoveries made
an impact on our livelihoods, it is a great opportunity for everyone to have a
knowledge about the unknown universe. Astronomers, Scientists, Professors
and even students, we came a long way for not appreciating the sacrifices
that astronomers have done before, we are more advance than before.
