About this ebook
Although space travel has been a topic of great interest to many, few have an understanding of the ultimate limits that will determine its possibilities. One thing is certain. No matter the advancement in technology, whether earthling or extraterrestrial, energy requirements will determine ultimate success in space travel. True, technology will play a part. Among other things, it will determine the kinds of fuels that will be useable in deep space travel and that will, in the end, determine its successes.
Are we ultimately going to be able to travel outside our own solar system to reach other worlds? Have extraterrestrials really visited us in the past? These are the questions addressed in this book. It is written for the layman, and does not require a technical background.

PREFACE
About the Book:
Although space travel has been a topic of great interest to many, few have an understanding of the ultimate limits that will determine its possibilities. One thing is certain. No matter the advancement in technology, whether earthling or extraterrestrial, energy requirements will determine ultimate success in space travel. True, technology will play a part. Among other things, it will determine the kinds of fuels that will be useable in deep space travel and that will, in the end, determine our successes. Are we ultimately going to be able to travel outside our own solar system to reach other worlds? Have extraterrestrial beings visited us in the past or will they in the future? These are the questions addressed in this book. It is written for the layperson, and does not require a technical background.
How to read the book:
The book begins with a short section explaining in simple terms how Einstein’s Special Relativity applies in long distance space travel. Such long distance flights into space will seem possible, even one across our Galaxy in a round trip from Earth. But when we begin to consider the energy requirements of such flights, our enthusiasm and hopes for such ventures will change. In fact, the reader will come to some understanding of the upper limits that can ever be expected for any round trip travel into space. All of the fuel types including nuclear and antimatter will be considered. This limitation of success as it turns out will be very general, applying to exterrestrials as well as to Earthlings.
The technical section at the end of the Book is not intended for the lay reader, but is included for those who might want to see how the energy equations for the round trips are derived.

SPACE TRAVEL – INTRODUCTION
Space travel has been a fascinating prospect of man, even before science has made it a possibility. Cartoons and comic strips have made it seem easy and natural. Movies make it look like the coming thing. But what would travel into space, across our Galaxy or to other galaxies entail? What would be the likelihood of such ventures? What are the limitations?
We live in an indescribably large universe. At first glance, it would seem forever impossible
