work
Good job everyone! How was your
experience in the activity? It was fun ma’am, we
learn and enjoy a lot.
That’s Great! I am glad that you learned
and had fun.

D. Explain Now let us all learn about plate tectonics

E. Developing
mastery
(20 minutes) Plate tectonics .
is a scientific
theory that
explains the
movement and
interaction of Earth's lithosphere, which
is divided into several large and small
plates. These tectonic plates are
responsible for shaping the Earth's
surface, including the formation of
continents, mountains, earthquakes,
and volcanoes.

Lithosphere: The
outermost layer, which
includes the Earth's
crust and the rigid upper
part of the mantle. This
layer is broken into
tectonic plates. .

The theory of
plate tectonics
builds on
earlier ideas,
like
continental
drift, proposed by Alfred
Wegener in the early 20th
century. He suggested that the
continents were once joined
together in a supercontinent
called Pangaea, which later
broke apart. Plate tectonics
provided the mechanism (plate
movement) that explained how
continents could drift over time.
3 Types of Plate Boundaries
1. Convergent boundary
2. Divergent boundary
3. Transform fault boundary

Convergent
Boundaries: Plates
move towards each
other. When they collide,
one plate may be forced
below the other (a process called
subduction). This can lead to the
formation of mountain ranges (e.g., the
Himalayas) or deep ocean trenches
(e.g., the Mariana Trench).

Divergent
Boundaries:
Plates move apart
from each other.
Magma rises from
below the Earth's
surface to fill the
gap, creating new crust. This process
occurs at mid-ocean ridges, like the Mid-
Atlantic Ridge, where new ocean floor is
continuously created.

Transform
Boundaries: Plates
slide past each other
horizontally. The
friction between them can cause
earthquakes. A famous example is the Yes ma’am!
San Andreas Fault in California.
Did you understand class?
Yes ma’am, we clearly
know.
Did you learn the lesson?

None ma’am.

application of topic.
concepts in daily
living. To summarize your learnings, let’s have
(10 minutes) another activity. This activity is named
“COMPLETE ME”

Instruction: .
With the same group, all you have to do
is to discuss the plate tectonics using
different puzzle materials. Every group
will be assigned to different tasks.
Each group will be given a
corresponding question for them to be
able to answer and complete the
assigned puzzle to them. The purpose of
this activity is to build their memory so
they can recall the entire lesson.
