Area: SCIENCE
(EARTH
SCIENCE)
Teaching 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM Quarter: 1ST QUARTER
Dates and
Time:
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content The learners should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the
Standard relationship among the locations of volcanoes, earthquake
epicenters, and mountain ranges.
B. Performance The learners should emphasize understanding key concepts,
Standards conducting experiments, and applying knowledge to real-world
situations.
C. Learning
Describe the different types of plate boundaries. (S10ES –Ia-j-36.2)
Competency
At the end of this lesson, the students should be able to :
1. Identify and define the plate boundaries
2. Label and the different types and part of plate boundaries
3. Discuss the plate tectonics by creating different model.

➢ Greetings
Good morning class! Today I will be your
class instructor
My name is Jasmine Calanday you can
call me ma’am Jas.
➢ Checking of Attendance
Is there any absent today in this class?
How about late?
None ma’am
Very good! I am glad that all of you are
here today.
Very good! Our topic last meeting is all Continental drift theory
about Continental drift theory.
Student’s answer
Direction:
1. Each group will assigned to name and Possible answer
label the different parts of plate
boundaries; Convergent boundary,
Divergent boundary, and Transform Lithosphere
fault boundary. Lithosphere
2. Once the task is finished, 6
representative from each group will
explain their answer in front of class, 2 Oceanic crust
representative in every boundary.
Asthenosphere
Are you done class? Yes ma’am!
Lithosphere: The
outermost layer, which
includes the Earth's
crust and the rigid upper
part of the mantle. This
layer is broken into
tectonic plates. .
The theory of
plate tectonics
builds on
earlier ideas,
like
continental
drift, proposed by Alfred
Wegener in the early 20th
century. He suggested that the
continents were once joined
together in a supercontinent
called Pangaea, which later
broke apart. Plate tectonics
provided the mechanism (plate
movement) that explained how
continents could drift over time.
3 Types of Plate Boundaries
1. Convergent boundary
2. Divergent boundary
3. Transform fault boundary
Convergent
Boundaries: Plates
move towards each
other. When they collide,
one plate may be forced
below the other (a process called
subduction). This can lead to the
formation of mountain ranges (e.g., the
Himalayas) or deep ocean trenches
(e.g., the Mariana Trench).
Divergent
Boundaries:
Plates move apart
from each other.
Magma rises from
below the Earth's
surface to fill the
gap, creating new crust. This process
occurs at mid-ocean ridges, like the Mid-
Atlantic Ridge, where new ocean floor is
continuously created.
Transform
Boundaries: Plates
slide past each other
horizontally. The
friction between them can cause
earthquakes. A famous example is the Yes ma’am!
San Andreas Fault in California.
Did you understand class?
Yes ma’am, we clearly
know.
Did you learn the lesson?
None ma’am.

application of topic.
concepts in daily
living. To summarize your learnings, let’s have
(10 minutes) another activity. This activity is named
“COMPLETE ME”
Instruction: .
With the same group, all you have to do
is to discuss the plate tectonics using
different puzzle materials. Every group
will be assigned to different tasks.
Each group will be given a
corresponding question for them to be
able to answer and complete the
assigned puzzle to them. The purpose of
this activity is to build their memory so
they can recall the entire lesson.
Materials:
Pieces of puzzle
Students answer:
Guide questions: Group 1:
Alfred
Group 1: He proposed the continental Wegener
drift theory.
