1. Financial protection for your family – Paying premium regularly will ensure financial protection for you and your family in case of
any unforeseen event.
2. Tax Rebate for you – As per prevailing tax laws, premium(s) paid and payouts received by you or your beneficiaries are eligible for
income tax rebate. Ongoing source of funds– In certain plans, the premiums paid by you are invested thereby providing you a
steady return on investment over a period of time.
3. Certain plans allow you the flexibility of partially withdrawing the amount in case of financial emergencies.
Lapsing an existing policy and/ or buying a new policy may have the following disadvantages:
• You may pay higher premiums on the new policy on account of change in age or health conditions. In addition you may be re-
quired to undergo a medical examination
• You may have to pay Surrender charges on the existing policy. A new policy will attract fixed charges such as admin fees again.
• Contestability period of two years, restarts again on a new policy
• You may lose all accrued benefits on your existing policy
• You are at risk of having no cover between cancellation & new policy commencement
