LESSON PLAN

Topic: Vocabulary: Things at home

Grammar: The use of Preposition of place

Level: Pre-Intermediate

Age: 8-12 years

Length: 45 minutes

Language Skills: Speaking and Listening

Lesson objectives: By the end of the lesson the students will be able to:

- Recognize the meaning and pronunciation of some


words about things at home
- Memorize the words introduced
- Vocabulary:

+ Television, rug, window, sofa, lamp, armchair, door, table,


bookcase, wall, mirror, picture.

- Use the grammar:

+ Where is……? It’s in/on/under the ………..

Resources: Flashcards, markers, whiteboard, chairs, paper, worksheet.


Stage Activity Description Resource Timing

Warm Run to the Present: 6 mins


up board 1. Divide students into 2 teams
2. Let students choose their team
names then write them on the board
3. The teacher explains the game
+ Teacher chooses topic “things at
classroom” then writes it on the board.
+ The 1st student of each team needs to
run to the board as fast as they can,
write one word about the topic
+ The student goes back to the end of
the line.
+ Students have 45 seconds for each
round.
+ When time is up, students stop
writing.
+ Teacher checks the answers and
announces the winner.
+ Give students a big applause then
ask them come back to their seats.

Teaching Vocabulary: Purpose: To introduce 12 new words Flashcards 10 mins

Flashcard

Present:
1. Grab all students’ attention
2. Show one flashcard (word) silently
3. Repeat the word 5 times, students
listen only
4. Ask students to listen and repeat by
groups/left side/right side
5. Choose randomly students to
pronounce the word. Correct the
students if he/she pronounces wrong
6. Write the word on the white board
7. Review with the flashcard once
8. Keep doing the same with the other
5 flashcards
9. Review all flashcards once
10. Check understanding
+ Point to the flashcard, ask “What is
this?”

Present:
1. Review all the new words once
2. Put 6 flashcards on the floor, in the
middle of the class in a straight line
3. Divide class into 2 teams, let them
choose their team names, write them
on the white board.
4. Pair students in each group by
number (if odd number, give a student
two numbers)
5. Ask 2 teams to make 2 lines
6. Invite 1 person of each line to do as
an example
7. Teacher says one word, then 2
students need to jump to the word then
say it out loud. Who is faster will get 1
point
8. Each round will have 2 times
9. After finishing, the student comes to
the end of the line. Next turn for next
student
10. Team has more points will be the
winner
11. Give all students big applause then
invite them to come back their seat

Teaching Teaching Grammar: “Where is it?" - "It’s 10 mins


2 Preposition of in/on/under …”
Place Present:
1. Teacher use 1 pen and 1 box to
describe the preposition of place.
2. Let students repeat 3 times to
remember preposition of place.
3. Invite some students come to the
board then teacher say the Prep,
student act as teacher say.
Eg: Teacher say “in front of” =>
Students put the pen in front of the
box. Then students need to say “It’s in
front of of box”
4. Teacher shows some pictures that
contain preposition of place, ask some
students to say it in sentence.
5. Practice asking and answering:
“Where is it? It’s ………….”
