INTRODUCTION

**For PN’s ALL

TASK 52-11-13-871-801-A01
Introduction
1. General
A. This manual is written to the iSpec 2200 and in ASD Simplified Technical English (STE). The
international SI units of measurement are used in this manual, with imperial units shown in
parentheses.
B. The manual contains data about maintenance on the component in a workshop. It does not
contain data about maintenance on the component when it is installed in the aircraft.
C. Only approved persons with the necessary skills are permitted to do the maintenance procedures
in this manual.
D. Maintenance Task Oriented Support System (MTOSS) task and subtask identification is used in
this manual. The maintenance tasks and other data have special MTOSS numbers for Electronic
Data Processing (EDP). The user of the manual can ignore the MTOSS numbers.
E. This manual contains:
- Technical data for the component
- Maintenance and repair procedures about the component
- An Illustrated Parts List (IPL) with data for the component parts. Parts are identified in all
sections of the manual by the IPL-Figure and item number.
F. We verified the DISASSEMBLY, TESTING and ASSEMBLY procedures by simulation.
2. How to use the Manual
A. Make sure that the manual contains the information applicable to your component.
B. If you need to identify a part or find a part number, use the search function.
C. You must use the instructions in this manual for all the component maintenance. Read all the
applicable WARNINGS and CAUTIONS before you do the work on the component.

A. Disassembly
(1) Unsafety nut (30). Remove rod end (10), nut (30) and cap (40). Retain washer (20).
(2) Separate rod body (50) from spring/piston assembly.
(3) Remove rivet (120). Remove rod end (60). Retain bushes (90), spring (100) or spring
washers (110), and stem (80).

dry compressed air.

(1) Uncrimp one side of rod end (60) accommodating spherical bearing using fly cutter set
P/N 6810226614-2 (with guide P/N 6810226614-201). Press out and discard bearing.
(2) Check that new spherical bearing (70) is perfectly clean, as well as rod end (60) bore.

WARNING : BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE MATERIAL NO. 09-001 FUEL TANK
SEALANT POLYSULFIDE. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER’S
INSTRUCTIONS.
(3) Apply a thin coat of Material No. 09-001 Fuel Tank Sealant Polysulfide to inside of rod
end bore and outer surface of spherical bearing.
(4) Press fit bearing making certain that fitting is started squarely.
(5) Crimping with a drilling machine:

WARNING : BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE MATERIAL NO. 06-011 SOLID FILM
LUBRICANT. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER’S
INSTRUCTIONS.
(a) Place 68101NSA8133-04 Fly Cutter Set an work table of a drilling machine having a
spindle speed of 100 to 150 rpm. Install revolving tool in drill chuck ; lubricate
working faces of tool with Material No. 06-011 Solid Film Lubricant
(b) Slightly crimp one side, making certain that bearing is squarely seated.
(c) Crimp the other side of rod end, then complete crimping of slightly crimped side.

ETHYL-KETONE. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER’S
INSTRUCTIONS.
(d) Clean with Material No. 11-003 Methyl-Ethyl-Ketone.
(6) Crimping with a press:
(a) Install spherical bearing between punches of 96827238-04 Crimping Tool placed on
press.
(b) Apply a force of 3000 to 3500 daN (6800 to 7800 lbf.).

ETHYL-KETONE. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER’S
INSTRUCTIONS.
(c) Clean with Material No. 11-003 Methyl-Ethyl-Ketone.
(7) Ensure that perfect contact between crimped flanges and rod end chamfers is obtained.
(8) Crimped surface must be free from cracks, scores and metal pick-up.
(9) Crimping must conform to FIGURE 52-11-13-991-002-A.

A. Assembly

WARNING : BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE MATERIAL NO. 04-004 SYNTHETIC ESTER
BASED GREASE HIGH PRESSURE. OBEY THE MATERIAL
MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS.
(1) Coat all moving parts with Material No. 04-004 Synthetic Ester Based Grease High
Pressure (Air 4210B or MIL-G-23827).
(2) Install one bush (90) on stein (80), then washers(110) in opposition or spring (100).
(3) Install second bush (90). Fully tighten rod end (60). Install rivet (120).
(4) Install above assembled component in rod body (50). Install and tighten cap (40) ; safety
cap (40) with Material No. 08-002A General Purpose Dimethacrylate Green. (MIL-R-46082
Type I).

CORROSION RESISTANT STEEL. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER’S
INSTRUCTIONS.

(5) Install nut (30) and locking device (20) on bearing rod end (10). Install and tighten rod end
(10) into rod body (50). Safety nut (30) with Material No. 19-026 Lockwire, corrosion
resistant Steel.

Fits and Clearances
1. General
A. How to use the Fits and Clearances Table (See Sample TABLE 1)
(1) A NOTE above the table gives the reference to the related CMM figure.
(2) Column 1 gives the location number (LOC NO.) of the part.
(3) Column 2 gives links to the IPL figure item numbers of the mating parts.
(4) Column 3 gives the dimensions and the assembly clearances of the original manufacturer
(MFR) limits.
(5) Column 4 gives the dimension limits and the maximum allowable clearance of the in-
service wear limits.

NOTE : It is necessary to replace the parts which are not in the limits (See
DISASSEMBLY, REPAIR and ASSEMBLY).
