3 UKM 0830 – 0900 Class Time Attendance 1030 - 1130 World of Self, Lesson 1 Topic My New House Theme Family and Friends Skills Main: Language Arts Complementary: Speaking Content 5.1 Enjoy and appreciate rhymes, poems and 2.3 Communicate appropriately to a small or large Standard songs group 5.1.2 Say the words in simple texts, and sing 2.3.1 Narrate very short basic stories and events Learning simple songs with intelligible pronunciation, Standard rhythm and intonation In addition to Year 2 text types: simple poems Objectives By the end of the lesson most pupils will be able to: 1. Say the words in simple texts, and sing simple songs with intelligible pronunciation, rhythm and intonation In addition to Year 2 text types: simple poems Success Criteria Pupils will be assessed on their ability to: 1. Listen and do the actions on the story. 2. Present the story in groups. Learning Outlines 1. Pupils carry out warm-up activity. Pupils look at pictures of long grass, river and village. Starter 2. Pupils listen to the teacher's explanation of the lesson objectives and success criteria to be achieved and their relevance to the topic of the lesson. 3. Pupils listen to teacher’s explanation of the learning content. 4. Pupils carry out activity with guidance. Pupils stand in a circle. Pupils listen to the teacher telling a story about “We’re going home”. Pupils join in with the actions. Pupils listen to the story again and do the actions and say the words. Main Activities Clarify with pupils that there is one more place to go through before they are home. Pupils suggest possible places to go through (e.g. forest, rice field, jungle, tunnel, school, shopping centre) In groups, pupils finish the story with another verse and to practise their story and the actions. Each pupil is given a handout of the story as guidance. 5. Pupils complete the exercise based on the topic that has been discussed. 6. Pupils carry out post lesson activity with guidance. Some groups are asked to perform their story. Plenary Pupils who are not performing are asked to identify the new place in the final verse. 7. Pupils listen to teacher’s conclusion and summaries from the whole of today’s learning.
