EPERIMENT-7

AIM:- To identify the presence of acidic and basic radical in the given inorganic compound.

MATERIAL REQUIRED: - Given inorganic compound, Test tubes, Test tube holders, Beaker,
Glass rod, Dropper, Water Bottle, and Burner

OBSERVATION TABLE:-

1. TEST FOR ACIDIC RADICAL:

2. Bring a glass rod dipped in NaOH White dense fumes appear. Chloride (Cl-) is
solution to the mouth of test tube. confirmed.

3. Silver Nitrate Test: To a given Curdy white ppt. which is Chloride (Cl-) is

Colour of Inorganic salt is observed. Mn2+ is absent.

2. Smell Ammonical. NH4+ ( Zero group) may

be present
3. To a given inorganic salt in a test Formation of white fumes with NH4+ may be present
tube add 1 ml conc. NaOH solution ammonical smell
and then heat.
4. To a given inorganic salt add water Formation of brown colour ppt. NH4+ confirmed.
and then add Nessler’s reagent along
the sides of a test tube
5. Salt solution + Conc. HCl and then Dense white fumes appear. NH4+ may be present
bring a glass rod dipped in HCl to
the mouth of test tube.

RESULT: - The given unknown inorganic compound contains:

Acidic Radical: Chloride (Cl-) ion

Basic Radical: Ammonium (NH4+) ion (Zero Group)
