PARAMETRIC TESTS

CORRELATION

Pearson’s R - test used to measure relationship between 2 interval variables

• Analyze – correlate – bivariate – check Pearson

• Graphs – Legacy Dialogs – Scatter/Dot – Simple Scatter – Define – Key in Variables to Y and X
Axis – Ok
• Double click the output (graph) – Clic Add Fit Line at Total in Chart Editor – Fit Line – Linear

Point Biserial – test used to measure relationship between interval and nominal (dichotomous)
variables

• Analyze – descriptive statistics – crosstabs – key in the variables – statistics – check

correlations – Ok

Lambda – test used to measure relationship between two nominal variables

• Analyze – descriptive statistics – crosstabs – key in the variables – statistics – check

correlations - Lambda – Ok

Gamma – test used to measure relationship between two ordinal variables

• Analyze – descriptive statistics – crosstabs – key in the variables – statistics – check

correlations – Gamma – Ok

Eta – test used to measure relationship between nominal and interval variables

• Analyze – descriptive statistics – crosstabs – key in the variables – statistics – check

correlations – Eta – Ok

REGRESSION ANALYSIS

Simple Linear Regression – test used to predict the dependent variable from the given
independent variable

• Analyze – Regression – Linear

Multiple Linear Regression – test used to predict the dependent variable from several independent
variables

• Analyze – Regression – Linear

DIFFERENCE AMONG MEANS

One Sample T-test – test used to compare population mean to sample mean

• Analyze – compare means – one-sample T-test – input Test Value (population mean)

T-test for Dependent Sample – test used to compare means from the same groups

• Analyze – compare means – paired sample T-test

• Get effect size if significant (Cohen’s d)
T-test for Independent Sample – test used to compare means from two different (independent)
groups

• Analyze – compare means – independent sample – define groups

One-way ANOVA – test used to compare three or more means

• Analyze – compare means – One-way ANOVA

• Run Post Hoc Analysis if significance is detected. (click Post Hoc – Sheffe)

FREQUENCY COUNTS

Chi-square – test between two nominal variables

• Analyze – descriptive statistics – crosstabs – place variables – statistics – chi-square

NON-PARAMETRIC TESTS

CORRELATION

Spearman rho – non parametric test used to measure relationship between interval variables.

• Analyze – correlate – bivariate – check Spearman

DIFFERENCE AMONG MEANS

Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test – non parametric test used to compare two dependent/related groups

• Analyze – nonparametric test – Legacy Dialogs – 2 Related Samples

Mann-Whitney U Test – non parametric test used to compare two independent/different groups

• Analyze – nonparametric test – Legacy Dialogs – 2 Independent Samples
