Pronunciation Practice

Practice pronunciation with your teacher by reading the following words.

Sound 1: /g/

Tip: To produce this sound, the back of your tongue should touch the top of your mouth to
stop air. Then, move the back of your tongue away from the top of your mouth to release
air. You produce this sound using your throat.

Pronunciation Practice

Practice pronunciation with your teacher by reading the following paragraph.


Mark had an exam at college. The students were separated into groups and they all
went into the room when the clock showed it was their time to begin. The teacher
gave them all papers with questions they had to answer. Mark had to name all breeds
of cats and to give the location of their habitat. His friend had to name all types of
dogs and their basic characteristics. They both passed the exam, picked up their
bags, and headed out to their rehearsal. They had a garage band where Mark played
the keyboard. They were getting ready for their first concert.
