GUIDE CARD

Hi! Learners!

Have you ever the term “multiple meaning word”?

Many words we use every day are multiple-meaning
words, or words that have more than one meaning.
When listening to or reading something, the
meaning might be determined by the rest of the
conversation or passage. Pictures and sounds may
also give a clue to the meaning of words.

Let’s go!
LEARN AND REMEMBER

Before we start, let us recall the

meaning about multiple Meaning
Words.

Multiple Meaning Words are words that have several meanings depending upon
on how they are used in a sentence. We use them every day and sometimes they can
be confusing.

Example:

The elephant carried the trunk with its trunk while walking around
the tree trunk.

This sounds like a silly sentence, but it isn’t. the first ‘trunk’ is used, it refers to a large
piece of luggage. The second ‘trunk’ used, it refers to the nose of an elephant, and the
last ‘trunk’ refers to the main stem of a tree.

Multiple-meaning words may sound and be spelled alike, but have different meanings.
ACTIVITY CARD 1
Now Let us read the story of Kite
Flying celebration!

KITE FLYING
By Alexes Anne F. Cruz

In Japan, kite flying is celebrated every fourth day of May. Kites are shaped like
carps are flown by the boys in every household. It is believed that kite flying makes boys
persistent and successful in any worthwhile activity. The carp, which is a kite fish is a
symbol of patience and perseverance. The fish tries to swim against the strong currents
although it is small.
In India, the kites look like shields, while in Australia, they look like boats. In
Brazil, the kite is shaped like a falcon which is a small eagle.
Here in the Philippines, kites are shaped like a pretty butterfly.
Every man, woman, boy and girl flies kite in Korea. Children write their names on
kites on January 14 each year. As kites go up high in the air, the children make a wish
for success. They also wish that the kites may carry off all their trouble the whole year.
Then, they cut the strings loose and let their kites fly away.
One day, a Korean general set a lantern upon a dragon-shaped kite. He wanted
to inspire his soldiers who believed that the dragon is a symbol of good luck. He made
them think that a new star had appeared as a sign of divine help. Very much inspired,
the soldiers fought like wild cats. They won the battle and thanked the dragon-shaped
kite which had bought them victory.
Kites also played an important role in China. In olden days, an emperor was held
prisoner in a castle tower. His loyal men made a huge kite and sent it flying near the
tower window. The emperor reached out, held onto the kite and safely escaped from the
tower.

2. In your own words, define what is video production and give one reason why a
teacher like you should know about video production. (10pts)

Video production refers to the process of creating or recording something

and turn it into a video in order to teach, educate and enlighten anyone and give
knowledge to everyone about a certain topic. It’s about making a video out of
moving objects and pictures with a touch of creativity filled with educational
content. Teachers should know about video production because we had to widen
our extremities in order to fulfill learning and give the best to students, most
importantly we have to provide a maximum satisfaction to students for them to be
an excellent learner.
3. Select one of the principles of video production discussed, and give an example to
further expounding the principle (5pts)

Non-cognitive elements that impact engagement

For example, short videos can teach more, it keeps students’
interest to watch the video until it’s finished. The speaker in the video is
enthusiastic and knows how to catch students’ attention with the way he or
she communicates and explains the lesson. The voice of the speaker is
one key to promote student greater engagement. And also the contents
and pictures used in the video is appropriately for the lesson and the topic
is for the right student and right class level.
