I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding on the principles of designing and
sewing children’s dress.
B. Performance The learner plan, design and sew children’s dress.
Standard
C. Learning The learner should be able to assemble garments parts of children’s
Competencies dress using a Unit Method of Construction.

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preparatory Activities Prayer, greetings, checking of attendance, checking of assignment, checking
the cleanliness of the classroom.
B. Review Topic: Pre-assembling

Guide questions:
1. ) What is the importance of properly pre-assembling
the front and back portion of the dress?
2.) Why is it important to have pre-assembling steps
before assembling the final dress?

C. Unlocking Difficulties UNIT METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION - it involves sewing the garment


together piece by piece or section by section.

STAYSTITCHING - is a sewing technique used on biased or curved or seams


to secure the fabric and prevent it from stretching or distorting while the
dress is being made.

STRETCHING- is when the fabric or biased seams elongated or distorted.

INTERFACING/INTERLINING - are additional materials placed between


two layers of fabric

ASSEMBLING - bringing together or joining various components to create a


whole.

D. Lesson Proper
a. Activity Motivation: - Would You Rather
Would You Rather is a simple icebreaker that gets students talking. To
play, compile a list of prompts. Then, open the online lesson by asking
students what they would rather do.

"Would you rather" questions related to assembling an A-line dress:

1. Would you rather sew the hem by hand or use a sewing machine for
precision?
2. Would you rather add pockets to the dress for functionality or keep it
sleek and pocket-free for a cleaner silhouette?
3. Would you rather gather the fabric for the skirt by hand or use a
gathering foot attachment on the sewing machine for efficiency?
4. Would you rather use a traditional zipper closure or try a modern
alternative like an invisible zipper for a seamless look?
5. Would you rather finish the seams with a serger for a professional look
or use a zigzag stitch on a regular sewing machine for simplicity?
6. Would you rather add decorative topstitching along the seams for
embellishment or keep the construction understated for a classic look?
7. Would you rather line the dress for added structure and comfort or
leave it unlined for a lighter feel?
8. Would you rather use a traditional fabric like cotton for a casual vibe
or experiment with a luxurious fabric like silk for a special occasion dress?

3. Each student will apply the given task using the activity rubrics with
teacher’s supervision.

with sharp pointed ends.
d. Application Individual Activity
Simultaneous Demonstration
The students will assembling the pattern. They will do the
following:

1. Prepare the tools and materials needed to the activity.


2. Sew the cut pieces using the unit method of constructions (Pre-
assembled)
3. Observe safety precautions while doing the activity
IV. Assessment
Students will rate their output according to the rubric given by the teacher
below. They will encircle their ratings/ score on the area provided.

V. Assignment Submit the finished A-line dress together with the accomplish activity sheet
on May 11-15, 2024
