IV. PROCEDURES
A. Review Instruction: Write your answer on the show me board, as the teacher
flashes the cards with additional facts.
B. Presentation of the 1. The teacher will present a story problem which is written on a
Lesson tarppapel and post it on the chalkboard. She will read the story. Tell the
class that they will just listen and observe first and study the procedure.
Show some illustration using the place value chart. Tell the class that in
adding numbers, It should start from the right to the left. From ones, tens,
& hundreds.

Say: The numbers in the ones place are 0 & 3. In the tens place are 2 & 2
and in the hundreds place are 1 and 2. Here are the steps. Step 1 – Add
the ones 0 and 3 = 3 Step 2 – Add the tens 2 and 3 = 5 – Add the
hundreds 1 and 2 = 3
.This is the short way of adding.

apparatus to the learners.
C. Development of the The teacher will give another story problem posted on the board. The

Say:
Let us analyse the problem:
❖ Who was the boy in the story (Answer Roy)
❖ What did he deliver to the canteen? (Ice candies)
❖ How many ice candies did he deliver yesterday? (936 ice
candies)
❖ How many ice candies did he deliver today? (52 ice candies)
❖ Who made the ice candies? (Roy‟s mother)
Ask:
If you were Roy, will you help your mother too? Why?
❖ Call a pupil to illustrate how to add using the story problem presented
awhile ago with the use of the amazing addition apparatus guided by the
teacher.
