Terminal Objective:
At the end of the training, the participants are expected to create a
comprehensive approach to teaching reading comprehension that equips
students with the skills and strategies necessary for success in academic
and real-world contexts.
Enabling Objectives;
At the end of the session, the participants are expected to equip

with basic skills on crafting assessment tools. Specifically, the training
aims to:
Knowledge: Discuss “ pre- reading”, “during reading” and “post-reading”
activities/strategies.
Skills: Develop a lesson with pre,during and post reading
activities/strategies.
Attitudes: Practice critical thinking in developing a lesson plan with
pre,during and post reading activities.

Executive Summary

The session began with a short opening program; Prayer and National
anthem. This was immediately followed by an overview of the
importance and relevance of reading comprehension strategies in
Learning in the context of education, highlighting its potential impact on
teaching and learning outcomes.

The training commenced with an overview of the importance of reading


comprehension skills and their impact on academic success.
Facilitator introduced key concepts and research findings related to
effective reading comprehension strategies.

Facilitator provided examples and practical tips for implementing each


strategy in the classroom.

Participants worked in small groups to analyze case studies illustrating


the application of reading comprehension strategies in different
educational contexts.
Groups identified challenges and opportunities for integrating
comprehension techniques into lesson plans and instructional practices.
Facilitator facilitated group discussions and provided guidance on
effective implementation strategies.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many


highlighting the practical relevance and applicability of the strategies
covered in the workshop. Participants appreciated the interactive nature
of the training and the opportunity for hands-on practice and feedback.
Suggestions for improvement included additional case studies and follow-
up support resources.

The Reading Comprehension Strategies Workshop provided participants


with valuable insights and practical tools to support student literacy
development. Moving forward, continued support and opportunities for
collaboration will be essential in maximizing the impact of the training
and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in reading instruction
across diverse educational settings.
