ADVANCED AUTOMATIVE SYSTEM

1-Explain hydraulic power steering system ?
A hydraulic power steering system is a steering technology that uses hydraulic fluid to assist
the driver in steering the vehicle. It consists of a hydraulic pump, a valve, a power cylinder,
and a reservoir. The pump is driven by the engine and generates hydraulic pressure. The
valve controls the flow of hydraulic fluid to the power cylinder, which applies force to the
steering linkage. The amount of assistance depends on the steering wheel torque, the
vehicle speed, and the system settings. A hydraulic power steering system reduces the
driver's effort and improves the steering feel and feedback.

2-Explain electronic power steering system ?

A Electronic Power Steering (EPS) is a system that uses an electric motor to assist the driver
in steering the vehicle. It replaces traditional hydraulic power steering systems with a more
efficient electric motor, which is controlled by an Electronic Control Unit (ECU). The ECU
receives input from sensors like the torque sensor and steering angle sensor to determine
the amount of assistance needed. This system is known for providing variable power assist,
which means it can adjust the steering effort based on the vehicle's speed, offering lighter
steering during low-speed maneuvers and firmer steering at higher speeds.

3-Explain linkage power steering system ?

Linkage power steering is a type of hydraulic power steering that uses a power cylinder
connected to the steering linkage to provide assistance to the driver. The power cylinder has
a valve that controls the oil flow based on the torque applied by the driver to the steering
wheel. The oil pressure in the power cylinder moves the piston and the rod, which turn the
steering linkage and the wheels.

4-Explain integral power steering system ?

Integral power steering is a type of hydraulic power steering that uses a worm-and-ball
bearing nut steering gear with a hydraulic rack piston along the worm shaft. The rack
piston can move the nut in any direction with the help of oil pressure. A reaction contact
valve is connected to the worm shaft and controls the oil flow based on the torque applied
by the driver to the steering wheel. The oil pressure in the rack piston helps the driver to turn
the steering wheel with less effort.

5-Explain torque converter ?

A torque converter is a device that transfers rotational power from the engine to the
transmission using a fluid medium. It allows the engine to spin independently of the vehicle's
speed and provides torque multiplication. It consists of three main components: the impeller,
the turbine, and the stator.
6-Explain automated manual transmission system ?
An automated manual transmission system (AMT) is a type of transmission that uses the
same gear and clutch setup as a manual transmission, but with an electronic control unit
that automatically operates them. The control unit decides when to shift gears and actuates
the clutch and gears using electrohydraulic or electric actuators. This provides the
convenience of an automatic transmission without compromising the fuel efficiency and
performance of a manual transmission.

7-Explain Continues Variable Transmission system ?

A CVT is an automated transmission that can change through a continuous range of gear
ratios without any fixed steps or shifts. This contrasts with other transmissions that provide a
limited number of gear ratios in fixed steps. The flexibility of a CVT allows the engine to
operate at a constant angular velocity while the vehicle moves at varying speeds.

8-Explain Air Braking system ?

An air brake system is a mechanism that utilizes compressed air to facilitate efficient
deceleration and stopping of vehicles by applying pressure to brake components. This
system stands as a pinnacle of safety and efficiency in various vehicles, ranging from
automobiles to heavy-duty trucks and trains.
Air Compressor -The compressor operates continuously while the engine is running.
Air Reservoir -The number and size of reservoirs depend on the vehicle's brake
chambers and parking brake configuration.
Brake Chambers -When air pressure is applied it pushes the diaphragm operating
the cam actuating lever and applying the brake.
