SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 7

I. Objectives
At the end of the discussion, the students should be able to:
A. differentiate belief from conviction;
B. familiarize expressions in stating beliefs/convictions;
C. communicate beliefs/convictions according to one’s culture and experiences;
D. and 4. express one’s beliefs/convictions based on a material viewed

B. Review of the Past Lesson


The teacher will conduct a review about the past lesson which was about “Recognizing myself”.

C. Motivation
Believe it or Not.
Here the following statement that shows the Filipino beliefs and convictions. Then the students will say agree or disagree, but
let’s make it change. When you say agree, say hooray. If you say disagree, then say hep hep.

1. Pagmamano as an act of respect, usually done to someone either older or a person of the religious order usually a priest

2. Sweeping the floor at night will drive away incoming blessings.

3. When you bite your tongue, someone is thinking of you.


4. Singing while cooking will make you single for the rest of your life.

D. Lesson Proper
 The teacher will discuss first what is belief
is something that an individual considers as the truth. It is shaped by the individual’s background
experiences and is based on one’s cultural or personal faith, morality, or values
 Also the teacher will discuss what is conviction
 is a firm belief on something that an individual is convinced of to be convinced you need to
obtain all related information like;
 statistical data - based on analysis of statistics;
 observational data - based on what the person has observed or perceived they observed
 causal data - based on what fact has caused a particular factual result; and
 experiential data - based on what experience shows can be inferred from the facts.

Belief of one, Belief of many!


In whole sheet of paper draw the images presented in this activity. Decide whether you agree or
disagree to the given statements. If you agree with what most people believe, then you may write
your stand on the speech bubble on their side. However, if you believe otherwise, write on the
other speech bubble that is opposite to the image of the crowd.

In your own words tell the differences and similarities of belief from conviction using the Venn
Diagram.
