Garnier Micellar Water

Product Review
I love makeup, but I will be the first person to say
that taking it off is an absolute drag. The way some
foundations just refuse to stop clinging to your
skin, the way some lipsticks are way too
committed to lasting for 24-hours, and of course-
the dreaded mascara clumps. All of those
problems- and many more- used to make the entire
experience of removing makeup a complete hassle
for me.

So, one day, I decided to try and buy a new

makeup remover. With little knowledge of the
giant market of this product, I simply searched up
which makeup removers were the best. As soon as
I clicked enter, an overwhelming number of results
popped up- most pointing to a single makeup
remover: Garnier’s micellar water. Once a foreign
beauty product, it has now become one of my
favourite skincare staples of all time, and has
completely improved the way I take off my
makeup.

This product is, as its name states, a micellar water. Micellar water is a skincare product with
a wide variety of purposes, and is beloved by both dermatologists and influencers. It’s made
up of purified water, moisturizers like glycerin, and mild surfactants, which are compounds
used for cleansing. It’s known to be both incredibly gentle and highly effective at removing
any dirt, oil, and makeup present on the skin- it even helps clear out your pores while acting
as a toner to your skin.

At the low price range of Rp. 100.000 or less for 400 ml of product, this product’s cost
certainly won’t be a problem for you! The packaging is pretty simple- there isn’t much to talk
about in terms of appearance. This product does contain a range of skin-friendly ingredients
as well- a range that includes glycerin, which is a substance that can increase your skin
hydration and relieve you of any skin dryness. Garnier Micellar Water doesn't contain any
sulfates or parabens either, so you won’t have to worry about that. If you’re worried about
whether this product will be too harsh on the skin- don’t worry, there is a variant specially
made for sensitive skin too! Other variants include mattifying and hydrating ones, along with
an oil-infused one for particularly stubborn makeup!

Using this product is quite easy too! I usually shake the bottle for a while, before squeezing
some of the product onto a cotton pad. I then start wiping the makeup off my face, and that’s
it! This product is fantastic at wiping off makeup, especially for swatches, where one swipe
will usually do the trick! This product is also really useful for a variety of tasks, like how you
can use it to wipe off makeup stains on clothes, or even as a daily cleanser!
However, this makeup remover does have its cons, just like any other product. For example, I
found it difficult to use the product without the use of any tools, like cotton pads or buds. You
can try using your hands, but it makes the process much messier. There’s also the fact that if
you get it into your eye… let’s just say that it’ll sting for a second or two. I have no issue
using it around the eye though, but I will say that taking off dreaded mascara clumps is still
somewhat difficult (though much easier compared to other cleansers). When removing
mascara, it’s best to press the pad on your eye for a while, just to loosen up the product.

While its low price tag may make some users suspicious, this product is widely considered as
a dupe to the cult-classic (and much more expensive) Bioderma Sensibio H2O, which is used
by world-class makeup artists. While Bioderma’s micellar water is more refreshing and
comfortable for those with sensitive skin, Garnier Micellar Water is still a formidable
opponent against it, especially with its variant for sensitive skin. Garnier Micellar Water is
also considered as a dupe for other expensive makeup removers, such as Yves Saint Laurent
Toning & Cleansing Micellar Water and Lancôme Eau Micellaire Douceur.

In the end, two specific things make Garnier Micellar Water stand out from the rest of these
much more expensive makeup removers: its low price, and its availability. Compared to
Bioderma’s official price of Rp. 148.500 for 100 ml, Yves Saint Laurent’s price range of Rp.
190.000 (and higher) for 200 ml, and Lancôme’s price range of Rp. 400.000 (and higher) for
400 ml, Garnier is clearly the most inexpensive option of the bunch. It’s arguably much
easier for you to find a bottle of Garnier Micellar Water than a bottle of any other makeup
remover on the market, and definitely much easier for you to find a bottle of Garnier Micellar
Water than its more expensive counterparts.

For its price tag, award-winning formula, and general ease of application, I’d recommend this
to any makeup-user who needs an inexpensive way to get rid of stubborn foundation patches,
uneven eyeliner lines, and many more. I’d also recommend it for people who are particularly
clumsy with their makeup- I cannot stress how efficient this product is at removing makeup
from clothes and even furniture! Younger girls should also look into this product for its low
price and its effective formula.

Overall, the Garnier Micellar Water is a fantastic product that lives up to all its hype and
awards- a rarity, in that it provides an incredible formula at a low cost. The price and
effectiveness of this product definitely makes up for its need for extra tools and slight
difficulty in removing extra-stubborn products. Just remember to always test out new
skincare products in mini versions before implementing them into your daily routine- this
will always make sure that the product is a good fit for you and your skin!
