SEMI DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATH 4

I. OBJECTIVE

Content Objective : Demonstrates understanding of whole numbers up to 100,000


Performance Standard : Is able to recognize and represent whole numbers up to 100, 000 in various
forms and contexts.
Competency : Reads and write numbers up to hundred thousand in symbol and in words.

II. Subject Matter


Topic : Reads and Writes Numbers up to 100,000 in symbols and in words
Reference : K-12 Grade 4 curriculum , LM in Math Grade 4 pages ,9-11.
Materials : Flash Cards , PPT, chalk

III. Learning Procedure


A. Preliminary activity

1. Drill
Teacher will conduct a drill on reading numbers using flash cards .

2. Review
Write the missing numbers in the shape below

3. Motivation
Teacher will distribute a set of cards with numbers written in symbol and another set of
cards with their equivalent in words. The pupils will find their match . The first pair to match
will wins. Post the number pairs on the board.

B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation
The Teacher will show the problem on the ppt slide.

The total amount of Ana’s father income in fishing in one month is thirty-one thousand
nine hundred four.

Is it correct to write the number as 31 904 ?

What is the correct way of writing this number ?

How many digits does the number have ? Can you read ?

How do you write numbers in words ? Do you need to write zero when writing words ? why ?

Teacher will also ask the students the importance of fisherman in our country.
2. Performing the activities
Divide the class into three groups . Assign each group a task .Read and write the numbers in
words

Ask: How will you able to do your task
call some students from the group to write the numbers.

Ask: How did you write the numbers in words ?


How did you separate the ten thousands and thousands from digits hundred , tens and
ones ?

4. Summarizing the lesson


Guide the students to give generalization by asking .” How do we read numbers from 10 001 to
100 000 ?

To write numbers ,reads the digits in the first period at the left ,say the period
where the digits are . Then , say only the digits in the units period
To write numbers from 10 001 to 100 000, the digits are separated by a comma
or space in groups of 3 called periods starting from the right.
