INTRODUCTION

Field Study 1 (FS 1) is an integral component of teacher education

programs designed to provide pre-service teachers with practical
experiences in actual educational settings. It is a course focused on
observation, participation, and analysis of teaching and learning
activities in schools. The primary goal of Field Study 1 is to expose
aspiring teachers to the real-world dynamics of the classroom,
allowing them to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge
acquired in academic settings and the practical application of
teaching strategies.
During Field Study 1, pre-service teachers typically spend time in
schools to observe classroom interactions, teaching methodologies,
and the overall school environment. This hands-on experience aims to
familiarize them with the day-to-day challenges and opportunities
encountered in the teaching profession. Through guided observations
and reflections, students are encouraged to critically analyze various
aspects of teaching and learning, such as classroom management,
instructional strategies, and student engagement.
Furthermore, Field Study 1 frequently entails working with supervisors
or mentor teachers who offer insightful counsel and criticism. Pre-
service teachers benefit from this mentorship by honing their
observational skills, learning about successful teaching strategies, and
thinking ahead to their own future roles in education.
FSS Biography

I am Arnold C. Lasit, 21 years old. I was born on December 28, 2001. I am

currently here in Balubad, Bulakan, Bulakan. I am the youngest son of Mr.
Danilo Lasit and Mrs. Antonia Lasit. Actually, my home is in Mahaplag,
Leyte, but because of financial problems, my mother came here to work
for almost 10 years at Marby until now, and I really appreciated those
sacrifices of my mother. Because of those sacrifices, my brother
graduated from college last 2 years ago and also I was able to study at
the Bulacan State University Meneses Campus, taking a bachelor of
secondary education major in sciences. Actually, this is not my dream
course because of financially unstable I didn’t pursue my dream job,
which is to become a seaman. My hobbies in life are riding motorbikes,
playing basketball, playing online games, and i love eating any kind of
seafood.
When I grew up thinking that I would become a police officer because I
really liked to buy a toy gun or a water gun, me and my brother played by
that. As time went by, when I was a teenager, I realized that my dream job
was to become a seaman. However, it feels like it’s not on my side
because of financial problems, and I decided to become a teacher. I know
that this is not my dream job; it challenges me to build up personality.

Mission
The BALAGTAS AGRICULTURAL HIGH SCHOOL (BAHS), Pulong Gubat, Balagtas,
Bulacan shall be a training institution that offers a curriculum that cultivates the
pursuit of excellence in academic, agriculture, leadership development and high
morals in character in its students.

and enhance their skills and abilities to fulfill their maximum potentials. Provides the
necessary modern farming methods and technology and extension services that are
related to farming which will contribute in the social upliftment and economic growth
of the country.

Vission
We envision this school to be the best in providing quality education that will enable
the students to become locally and globally competent for the new millennium
especially in the field of agriculture movers of society in agri-technology
development, public service and business; developing the Cs: COMMITMENT,
CHARACTER, and COMPETENCE among the students in maintaining a habit of
hard work and sense of responsibility, values necessary for a productive life and
excellence dedicated to the service of god and to our country towards spiritually,
morally upright citizens.
Beliefs on
teaching and learning
Teaching and learning are inseparable because when you teach,
the students must really learn, and you can't say you are an
effective teacher if your student doesn't learn from you
because we have different strategies when it comes to teaching,
especially when it comes to science. because this is one of the
most difficult subjects.

During my observations, I encountered the prevailing belief that

teachers act as facilitators rather than mere transmitters of
knowledge. This approach encourages teachers to guide
students through the learning process, fostering a dynamic and
interactive classroom environment. I witnessed teachers
skillfully orchestrating discussions, posing thought-provoking
questions, and creating opportunities for students to construct
their understanding. The role of a facilitator, I realized,
empowers students to take ownership of their learning journey.
As a future educator I want my student to understand not just
memorize because this is also one of the wrong things we do
instead of learning or reading.

DEPLOYMENT DAY
MY REFLECTIONS
ON THE FIELD
STUDY 1
Reflection 1
September
The first day of my field study was nothing short
of an exhilarating adventure. Eager and full of
anticipation, our journey began as we arrived at
Balagtas National School at the crack of dawn,
5:30 am. The air buzzed with a mix of nervous

28, 2023 excitement and curiosity about what awaited us in

the realm of practical application.
The punctuality and discipline observed at
Balagtas National set the tone for the day.
Day 1 Waiting for Ma'am Ermina, the head teacher of
the science department, added a layer of
suspense, intensifying the eagerness to dive into
the day's activities.

When Ma'am Ermina arrived at 8:30 am, there

was an immediate shift in the atmosphere. She
quickly took charge, efficiently assigning each of
us to our cooperating teachers (CTs). It was at
this point that my journey became more

The class is in progress as I arrive. I do value the way he used a portion of the time he

while he was explaining to the students that, like me, he went by the same procedure,
and he would like to make a request for. To be treated by all the same standards that a
teacher needs to handled. I'm astounded by the students' responses as they were
informed. Teaching genuinely has these kinds of miraculous things in a way that any
pupils could accept advice from a teacher. I've noticed that the subject of the topic of
discussion for the classes was heredity, specifically inheritance and variations. The 9th
grade Dandalion continued with their group exercise, Ms. Sairah's style of giving
directions is a very wise move.
My second day of being an FS
student was an unforeseen but
rewarding experience. At precisely

responsibility and anticipation. My
cooperating teacher,Ma'am Sairah,

was away at seminars, so I was left to

lead a quiz and assign a PETA
(Performance Task) to the entire
section.

Taking on the role of an instructor to

facilitate the quiz and PETA presented an
immediate challenge. Even though I was
still anxious, I relied on the advice and
insight Ma'am Sairah gave me at our first
meeting. I was able to assess the students'
comprehension of the material and observe
various learning styles in the classroom by
designing the quiz.

Although it seemed daunting at first, Ma'am Sairah's absence ended up being a godsend. I
was forced to step outside of my comfort zone and discover my potential as a teacher. The
event served as evidence of how crucial flexibility and rapid thinking are in a classroom
setting.
After giving this activity to the student I came
back to faculty and check all of the papers..
while i checking all the papers ,I realized that
this topic that was previously in Punnet
Square was very difficult for me, but now it's
easy, and I observe that the majority of
students, based on their activity and quiz, are
learning, and the rest is really lacking. After
checking, I chatted with my CT, and I said that
everything has been checked and is already
on the table.
Reflection 3
On the third day of our journey, Sir Carlito
and I agreed that we should attend in the october
afternoon at BNAHS. The school schedules
classes for grades 7 and 9 in the morning,

9, 2023
while grades 8 and 10 have classes in the
afternoon. Our cooperating teacher (CT) is Sir
Gab for me and Ma'am KC for Sir Carlito.
Sir Gab, my cooperating teacher,
warmly welcomed me into his
classroom, providing insights into the
teaching methods and the curriculum. It
was a valuable opportunity to observe
and learn from an experienced
educator. Meanwhile, Sir Carlito had the
chance to collaborate with Ma'am KC,
his cooperating teacher, in a classroom
filled with inquisitive minds.

The afternoon class started at 10;30 am until

4;30 pm . During the afternoon session sir
Carlito and i was assigned to our respective
cooperating teachers.. while I’m observing sir *-N

Gab ask me for help to teach their students at

the back how to solve the W=Fd and we decided
to check their work one by one their chair. I’ve
noticed that there are many student who didn’t
answer and some of their wasn’t learned. after
that we came back to the faculty Sir Gab told me
that if you are a teacher someday you must
have to value and don’t give up you have to
stand out and accept all the challenges of being
a teacher.
I really appreciate those techniques that he told me but, sadly he said that (parang
siya ang may kulang) because every time he teach there are majority of class did
not learn and most of that are learned,. he didn’t know what he supposed to do. As
a future educator , I cannot blame myself if gave my very best for them to learn it
is not our fault, it’s either the child or the parents. I’m so very thankful he shared
on me all their experiences and challenges to become an effective teacher that
inspired me to pursue this path.
Reflection 4

Today, 12th of October, marks another
significant day in my Field Study 1 journey.
Over the past three days, we arrived at school
6;50 am and I’m actually late because of Sir
Carlito , when we in school we go to our
respective classrooms.
I have something to share this moments,
unlucky when i sat at back of the class i didn’t
check the chair if it is good ( ayun nahulog ako
sa kanya). This day was very actively
participated the class , I really admire those
techniques and strategies of Ma’am Sairah there
is an engagement of the students and very
smooth discussion. And While I was observing,
he began recalling topics about cells. Despite
being behind, I felt the urge to answer. Before
we went home, Ma'am Sairah told me to come in
tomorrow so that we could administer her quiz
and PETA since she had a seminar.
I am looking forward to assisting with the quiz
and PETA, and I will ensure everything is well-
prepared for the students in Ma'am Sairah's
absence. This opportunity will not only allow me
to contribute to the smooth running of the class
but also provide valuable experience in handling
assessments and maintaining an organized
learning environment.
Reflection 5
october
13, 2023
We arrived at school precisely at 6:20 in the morning, eager to prepare myself for
administering the PETA to my students for the second time. When Ma'am Alona suggested
that I include Sir Carlito in administering the quiz, we promptly organized ourselves. At
exactly 6:30, we proceeded to the classrooms.
I took charge of instructing the students on how to approach the quiz. Before beginning, I
allocated five minutes for them to review their notes. Following the review period, Sir Carlito
assisted me in distributing the questionnaires. Wanting clarification on whether we would
check the papers immediately after completion, I approached Ma'am Sairah. She advised
against it, suggesting that we leave the papers on the table and they will be the one who
check next meeting.
After successfully collecting and distributing
all the sections of the quiz, we made our way
back to the faculty room precisely at 12 pm.
Upon our return, Ma'am Ermina inquired
about the completion of our assigned task.
Confirming that our responsibilities were
fulfilled, we informed her that everything was
done. To our delight, she granted us the
option to leave if we had no other pressing
matters, acknowledging that we might have
tasks awaiting us at home.

Given the opportunity to head home early, and considering the morning schedule
of our responsibilities, we took a moment to prepare for departure. We dutifully
signed our Daily Time Record (DTR) before officially leaving the faculty room. The
clock indicated 12:10 as we exited the school premises, appreciating the
unexpected chance to conclude our day a bit earlier than usual.
Reflection 6
october
19, 2023
A cloudy morning, I arriving at the
school premises precisely at 6:43
am. Admittedly, I was running a bit
behind schedule. Despite my
tardiness, I headed straight to
Ma'am Sairah's class, where the
day's academic journey had already
begun for the grade 9 stargazer
students. The class initiated by
reviewing the last activity I had
assigned the previous week.

After two sections, we returned to the

faculty room. I saw Sir Carlito and
Ma'am Malou preparing sopas. I help
them during our vacant time with Ma'am
Sairah. After a satisfying meal, we
proceeded to the Cathleya and
Dandalion sections. Upon concluding
the session, we made our way back to
the faculty room.
when we are the faculty room Ma'am
Sairah approached me, seeking
assistance in checking the

papers. I gladly accepted the responsibility, contributing to the collective effort of

ensuring the academic progress of the students.
Reflection 7
october
27, 2023

Today is Friday, and it marks the second day of the periodical exams at BHAHS, and it was
7th day of being an FS students. My role for the day was to assist the children during their
examinations, a task that involved managing potential technical issues as they took their
exams on laptops. The unique challenge presented by the occasional technical glitches
required me to troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly. In instances where the problems
persisted, I sought guidance from Ma'am Sairah, whose expertise proved invaluable in
ensuring a smooth examination process.
Actually , i was amazed because during my high school years, taking exams on a laptop
was entirely foreign to me. Witnessing the students seamlessly navigating their exams on
electronic devices highlighted the evolution of educational practices. It became evident that
technology had become an integral part of the learning experience, providing students with
new avenues for academic assessment.
Reflection 8
November
16, 2023
On the 16th day of November, I
experienced a rather exhausting
day, primarily due to being unwell.
Despite my condition, I managed to
arrive at school, around 6:50 am.
Upon reaching the class of Ma'am
Sairah, I found myself engaged in a
new learning experience. The day's
lesson involved a review of the
periodic table, a topic that had been
previously covered last year.

Although I’m mot feeling well that time, Ma'am Sairah delved into the various
sections of the periodic table. Her explanation provided a comprehensive
understanding of this fundamental concept in chemistry. The day's discussion
served as a valuable recap for me, reinforcing my grasp of the parts of periodic
table.
Since it was our vaccant time, Ma'am
KC asked me to watch over her
students because there was an
emergency meeting, so I went to her
class and I had them write what was on
the board that Ma'am discussed so it
wouldn't be noisy and messy. After
that, Ma'am came back and continued
the discussion, and I also returned to
the faculty, and at exactly 12:10, we
went home.
Reflection 9
November
23, 2023

On the 23rd of November, numerous science teachers were absent due to a

seminar, including Ma'am KC and Ma'am Sairah. In light of this, Carlito and I were
tasked with administering their quizzes for the day. The responsibility fell on us as
Grade 7 students awaited their turn to take the quizzes. And Ma’am KC said that we
should be patient because we will handle grade 7.
It is challenging to us handling grade 7 it is very hard to maintain order and
reprimand mischievous behavior. Before 10 am we go to the grade 9 building,
when we were in grade 9 it was quite nice not too noisy. I realized that as a teacher,
you really need a lot of patience, especially if you are teaching in grade 7, because
it is very difficult as if their thinking is still in elementary school, so you really need
to be patient in the way you handle it.
Reflection 10
November
30, 2023

I arrived at 6:25, and it marked my last day of observation as the following week was
designated for science week, on the 30th of November. On this particular day, there
was a shortened schedule due to the students needing time for Science week
practice. Ma'am Sairah utilized the available time to discuss the ionic bonds with the
class. Due to shortened period the class was end at exactly 10 am. After the 4
sections, Ma'am Siarah give me a task of checking the activities of her students. This
hands-on experience provided me with a more comprehensive understanding of the
students' grasp of the subject matter
.
Later in the day, Ma'am Alona extended her assistance to us for preparing her
Science Song Advisory for the upcoming Science Week. Collaborating on this project
allowed for a blend of creativity and educational engagement.
Reflection 11
december
1, 2023

1st day of December it was our last day at BNAHS Sir Carlito and I decided to express
our gratitude by purchasing pizza and banana cake as a token of appreciation for
guiding us during our FS 1 journey. They played a significant role in our learning
experience, and we gained valuable insights from their mentorship. Despite not being
directly responsible for a class, we acknowledge that it was our oversight not to
approach them to take on teaching responsibilities. Nevertheless, they trusted and
supported us throughout.

In addition to being mentors, they proved to be enjoyable companions, and we found

them to be very approachable, especially Ma'am Ermina. I sincerely hope that our
paths cross again, as I am contemplating taking on FS 2. For me BNAHS is very far
actually but the positive experiences and the knowledge gained make it a worthwhile
journey.
